RicoS321 Posted 5 hours ago Report Posted 5 hours ago Starting this one early, as I happened to watch the Haiti v Peru highlights from last night. Haiti weren't amazing, but they have pace on the counter attack. Isidor looks like a good player and Pierrot looks like a very good athlete. Both will cause us big problems, and I worry about Hanley in a back four when we're defending high up. I wonder if we might go back three instead? Defensively they weren't great, and their midfield could be passed through with ease. Gilmour would have been absolutely perfect for this game, and, to a lesser degree, Lennon Miller. Without those two, it'll almost certainly have to be McLean, who is by far our best option at slowing down counter attacks as well as moving it quickly forward. That means a decision to be made between McGinn, Christie, Doak, Curtis. Because of that, I'd expect us just to play one up front, so that we can get as many of the preferred players in. I'd much rather we played two, Dykes and Shankland, but I suspect it'll be just Adams on his own. Quote
Ajja Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago Hopefully Clarke doesn’t shut the bed and stick one up top. This is a must win game and we should be taking the game to them not closing down the game and hoping for a breakaway. Adams works hard but he’s not the finisher that Shankland is. Quote

I don't know why I found "shut the bed" quite so funny! I'm not sure it'll be shitting the bed, so much as trying to get all his best midfielders on the park. The good thing about this world cup is that it'll be fucking roasting. Clarke will have to use every outfield member of his squad in the three games and so it'll be much easier for him to drop guys he ordinarily wouldn't with a view to preserving them. It won't necessarily be about getting his best 11 footballers all on at once. That should hopefully allow him to let Adams take the bench for Haiti. Quote

Just don’t want to see us over think the Haiti game like we did against Hungary. We can’t afford to read it wrong and get caught out or we’re on our heels immediately. Quote
