Yeah, I would have been raging if we were 2-0 down and still trying to play fancy triangles with the sweeper keeper with 10 minutes to go. Sorry, but you are highly unlikely to score when passing around your own 18 yard box.

sometimes you have to just mix it up - not as though our defence are very good in the air and the swirling wind made it a lottery. Their manager was going on about being true to their identity- 1st half they passed it around us, even when we had the extra man, but keeper didn’t have one shot in first to save

on the keeper, not convinced he is an upgrade on Mitov. Maybe a bit more composed with ball at his feet, but thought he looked sluggish getting down  to their couple of efforts in the second half

Hope he just needs to get fitter assuming he came out of winter break

I agree with you to an extent. While we played well, they didn’t. I think it’s wrong to say that was all down to us. I’d argue they showed up expecting a cake walk, and I believe that’s luck on our side, they underestimated us, we were lucky they did. I think we were lucky Hatate and Jota were injured, two very good players.

they missed chances, hit the post, hit the bar, I think we were a little fortunate. While we were unlucky with our og, we were certainly lucky with our goal. Most often that would be cleared or the keeper collects. We were lucky that arguably the best forward in the league last season didn’t score in the last couple of mins 1v1 with mitov. Good save but you expect him to score that chance most times.

it was a great final, not trying to downplay our achievement, we did many things extremely well, especially the penalties, but we didn’t outplay them, didn’t create a ton of chances, struggled to keep possession for most of the game, most neutrals won’t give us the credit we deserved for the cup win. But wha a great day and win!!

I'm not sold on Geiger yet. He looked okay, but I thought he looked a poorer version of Aouchiche. Doesn't quite have the legs I'd say, but hopefully it's just him getting up to speed. Agree about the wind, that's how I saw it in real time, although it does look a lot worse on the highlights! I totally disagree about your point in miovski. Last night, he had his eyes on the ball and accidentally caught the player, who was back on his feet in thirty seconds. If he's going to get sent off against the Hun, then there needs to be at least a season ending injury, and preferably in a challenge where he can follow through and take out at least one other Hun. Followed by him screaming in their faces and throwing his top into the Ibrox stands. 

You’ve compared Geiger to aouchiche a couple of times now. I think they are very different. Both have a higher profile back ground, but one is clearly a holding/central mid, whereas Aouchiche was an attacking kid even a wide player. He was only forced deep cos we were piss poor. Aouchiche isn’t a passer, he’s flair with the tricks, Geiger seems much more of a passing play dictator, something we badly need. I’d say Geiger is maybe a little on the Kenny McLean side, but with bite.

I think Geiger will learn the demands of Scotti’s football a could’ve really good, but I like his physicality, much needed. 
a little surprised polvara left his hair for him to wear though. Def needs a tash to complete the look.

Firstly, hitting the post or bar isn't bad luck for them or good luck for us. Those shots were not on target. 

They were also all chances outside of the box. Celtic had few inside the box because very seldom did they manage to cut us open or get in behind us. That's a sign of a very good defensive performance.

But if we're talking big chances, Polvara and Gueye passed up big ones for us in full-time. Gueye passing the ball to Schmiechel when he just had to put it left or right of him was a bigger chance than Maeda's for them, in my opinion. Mitov made a big save, Schmiechel didn't have to.

That suggests we got more luck with our goal than they got for theirs, which isn't true.

Doesn't matter if you expect him to score. Mitov made a great save.

We nullified Celtic. While we took a while to be an attacking threat, we kept our shape, defended well, didn't crumble when 1-0 behind, Thelin made good subs at the right time, outthought Rodgers, and we had three big chances after our goal to win it. We then had fine our homework on penalties.

To call it a fluke or luck is utter tosh.

What next? We were lucky it rained in Gothenburg?
