Midfield: Hard to judge based on one friendly how Robinson sees it shaping up (I've a few players out of position there simply just to fit them in). It could even be more of a 4-2-3-1 with Nisbet and Mouloua starting together and switching. Maybe a 4-3-1-2 with Keskinen and Armstrong deeper. 

Anyway, thoughts at this stage are we need to ship out the dead wood, I pray that defence is solid, and jury remains out on whether Yogane & Olusanya will be at the level we require. I also do look at that midfield and think it still lacks one top player who can dictate games, but not seen enough of Briedl or Ronan yet.

1 up front? Really?

I would prefer 2 up front and if that means a 5-3-2 then so be it.

As was said Jensen was certainly not the worst signing, but summed up the massive recruitment issues we’ve had as he was totally unsuited to this league.

Unbelievably negative player too, constantly turned backwards when on the ball. Hugely frustrating.

Yengi can fuck off anywhere, anytime he likes.

Get our money back on Topi I’ll bite yer hand off too. Has attributes, but is without doubt one of the thickest footballers I’ve ever seen on a fitba park…

No, not really, if you read the post before replying.

If you're referring to the graphic, I used the formation we played against Cove. Also, 4-3-3 is rarely considered to be one up front.

I also in my blurb suggested two other formations that would involve playing two strikers.

Having a future at Aberdeen may well mean he's just picking up a wage and not going to play. The lesser of two evils if we can't get rid. He'll have been told that they'll be actively trying to get him a move but might be expecting a fee so can't let others know he's worthless

Norwegian club Brann lining up a move to sign Kjartansson on a permanent deal.

Unless they are offering crazy money, which would seem highly unlikely, I'd personally keep him.

Not sure how we would pay decent money for the potential he apparently has and then do nothing to develop that potential. If he isn't ready for our first team, then get him out on loan somewhere where he will get decent game time surely

REVEALED: Norway’s Brann weighing up transfer bid for Aberdeen midfielder Kjartan Mar Kjartansson

Bergen-based Brann are understood to be weighing up making an official bid to land Kjartansson on a permanent transfer.

Norwegian side Brann are interested in signing Icelandic midfielder Kjartan Mar Kjartansson from Aberdeen.

The 19-year-old joined Aberdeen last summer for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £250,000, from Stjarnan in his homeland.

However, the Iceland youth international had a low-key debut campaign in what was a dismal season for the Dons, making just two league starts from seven appearances overall.

Bergen-based Brann are now understood to be weighing up making an official bid to land Kjartansson on a permanent transfer – though The Press and Journal understands there is yet to be any contact between Brann and Aberdeen.

Kjartansson, who is contracted to Aberdeen until 2029, is currently with his Dons team-mates in Delden, in the Netherlands, on a week-long warm weather pre-season training camp.

Robinson has said Kjartansson needs loan amid midfield reinforcements

The Reds manager who signed Kjartansson, Jimmy Thelin, was axed in January, but current Dons head coach Stephen Robinson has talked up the prospect’s “talent” since his appointment in March.

Aberdeen could be unwilling to sanction the promising project player’s permanent departure.

Robinson has stated Kjartansson is a candidate for a loan in the new season, with Aberdeen having since signed midfielders Brad Lyons, Alexander Briedl and Connor Ronan as part of their summer rebuild.

After the season-ending Premiership defeat at Dundee, Robinson said: “Kjartan is 19 and still a young boy.

 

“He’s a project and shouldn’t be starting week in, week out for Aberdeen.

“He’s one of many projects that we need to loan out or get game-time.

“However, Kjartan has shown he has got talent and he is a good boy.

“But certainly his lack of game-time showed at certain periods (against Dundee), although he wasn’t the only one.”

 

Aberdeen have done midfield business with Brann – currently managerless following the sacking of Freyr Alexandersson – recently.

Ex-boss Thelin signed then-Brann captain Sivert Heltne Nilsen in 2024. Nilsen left Pittodrie for Haugesund, back in Norway, in March following Robinson’s appointment.

We have finalized a deal for a Moroccan striker named Ayoub Mouloua from FUS Rabat.

He's 23, can play across the front line, and bagged 6 goals in 21 games last season in the Moroccan top flight. This will be his first move outside of Morocco.

Definitely fits the mold of buying young talent with high re-sale value. Given our issues with clinical finishing last season, hopefully he hits the ground running. To be honest, targeting the Moroccan market right now is a massive chess move. The overall level of Moroccan players has been skyrocketing over the last few years, which you can easily see from their performances in the previous World Cup and the current 2026 tournament.

I'd take the money for Kjartansson if it matches what we paid. An Icelandic Dean Campbell in my opinion. That's not a criticism, I liked Campbell. I think he'll need a few years of development though and I'm not sure we're in the right place to offer that, and we've got enough project players on our hands as it is. I'd be attempting to unwind as much of our trading over the last two years as possible. His value won't be increasing for another couple of seasons at least, and I think we should look to recoup now rather than wait. If there weren't so many other duds in the squad, I'd suggest keeping him.

I know it's pre season but Kjartansson's 45 mins at Cove was as poor as I've seen from any of our "prospects".  Having someone like him on hold for a season or two is a luxury we can do without if, and that's a big if, someone is genuinely offering a decent wedge for him. He was vastly out played by a few Cove young loons including two that we have recently, and probably correctly, released from our academy.

Wouldn't argue overly strongly with either of you to be honest.

I don't imagine he is on a huge wage and not sure his value is likely to be any greater now than potentially in twelve months time which is why I still feel we should keep him but send him on loan to a championship team (Arbroath or similar).

If he doesn't cut the mustard, then that to me would be the time to sell.

Either way however, not going to challenge you guys to a square go over it

That was not my impression even remotely.  I thought he worked hard and pressed well with only his passing letting him down. I personally think he's worth keeping, stick him on loan to the championship and I would wager he comes on in leaps and bounds with regular game time.
