Summer 2026 Transfer Window

Firstly no intention to wind up Rico ( but it is a bonus) by starting this more than forty eight hours ahead of January window closing BUT as a squad we are all over the fucking place and even at this early stage I would imagine we all would have opinions on what need to happen over the summer.

Appreciate that certain things might be addressed in the remaining forty eight odd hours of the winter one BUT given our performance to date, coupled to us being manager less, I wouldn't stake any money on it

I can't see many good players wanting to drop down to the Championship to play for us next season.

Where do we start? 

mitov is good keeper with a solid/good defense ahead of him. I think it will be hard on any keeper to excel with shite infront. I’d stick with the keepers we have for the sake of not overhauling so much. He’s not been great but worth keeping for now.

right back is fine, lobban with devlin as back up.

Left back frame and a signing, gyamfi just doesn’t look like an athlete or good enough. 

central defense, I’d sign McIntyre, keep Milne and kneuster, and a marquee £££ central defender needed bought. Molloy back up for LB and CB.

weve got to spend in midfield. Need proper right and left wingers, topi is back up. Bilalovic too who could come good. Punt milanovic.

center mid, much like central defense, need a legit signing. I’d keep Geiger, give him a preseason and I think he’s our cammy devlin. You have shinnie and Kjarten to give competition in there. Afeez too although yet to see anything to suggest he can play.

Sign Cameron or a legit 10, and him, Armstrong, and Marshall compete for that position.

up top I think we need a legit 9, plus nisbet to compete for the starting job. Lazetic too although he’s done little to suggest he’s a long term player for us.

we have few players who we have to keep but I just don’t think a total overhaul helps us,  again. We have to retain some to build around, it can’t be another 10 plus signings. Quality over quantity this summer which is very difficult. I also think we have a good few followers who have the ability to perform with new quality leaders around them.

6 signings essential/starting quality needed - central defender, right wing, left wing, center mid, 10, and 9. That’s a really hard ask, most likely impossible, but a much needed 6 to build around if we want to be a top 6 team.

I think it would be a big risk to keep Geiger on existing showings. I think we could do a lot better. Motherwell have about 4 better midfielders than him already! I'm not writing him off, because there is the possibility that he's just getting up to speed, but it looks to me like he's just not quite good enough in several areas. Players like that can be quite deceptive, I usually describe them as Milsom types, they look good because they have good balance, a nice touch etc, but they just turn out to be nothing players. However, if he can work on his athleticism, the average parts could turn into real attributes, if he's first to second balls and does the coverage and work required of a top midfielder. I think he has to do it this season though, or else we'll end up making the Palaversa error with him.

Maybe, I’m just trying to build on some players rather than a total overhaul. Plus he’s been thrown in at the deep end, unfit, lack of match practice, with a managerless team with no confidence. He’s played 100 plus games in a good league, I think there’s something there.

Agreed, we'll see where he is at the end of the season. It's almost always a case of better the devil you know, which is why managers tend to stick with known quantities, and I don't blame them. Imagine we'd kept McGrath for example? Shinnie has to be worth a new deal on those grounds alone. If Cameron does anything between now and the end of the season then he would also be worth a punt (at present, I'd not break the bank for him, he flatters to deceive a bit despite a lot of effort).

I don't think he has really added much to us since our arrival.

We need to upgrade so many areas, that it isn't happening in the summer.

We just have to hope that our new manager can turnaround the fortunes of what we do have and our recruitment can pull a couple of gems up from somewhere.

Hopefully the lad Marshall  signs up and kicks on

I think he’s been good from what I have seen. Obviously hasn’t scored but is the 10 we’ve needed for a long time, creative, wants on the ball, set pieces etc. But like Geiger, not match sharp/fit, coming into a shit team with zero confidence, a team with more turnover in January, plus he played ahead of two center mids who for the most part have been and are poor. If we can pick both him and Geiger up for a good price I’d add them both.

We dont agree on much but we can shake hands on this. Cameron is not the messiah some seem to think he is, probably out of desperation, but he isn't and I'm not just saying that because he's on loan from the Huns.

He's powder puff. Only marginally better than that Leighton Clarkson.
