Celtic v Aberdeen

Jimmy Thelin's Festive Roadshow rocks up at Parkhead on Sunday 21st with a 3 pm kick-off.

Celtic's Wilfried Nancy is going for a record extending five straight losses, but I don't think he can achieve it.

2-1 Celtic with a winning penalty 16 minutes into stoppage time.

Just imagine if we had performed like that against a good Celtic team?

Don't have nightmares...

Just said to wife can you imagine if we had given that number of chances to a Celtic team with Larsen in it.

That’s why I said it was awful. Could have been absolutely humped today.

new keeper needed. Don’t give a shit about the big saves, the red was his fault (again) and as piss as we were, we were in the game at that point.

we are making a gait now of mistakes and losing goals. Not good.

Surprised at you, saying that wasn’t the worst. I thought we were awful to where I gave up at half time. Only saw we scored when I went to switch and charge my iPad.

What wasn’t that bad???

Don't get me wrong, I thought we played terrible, I just thought there were mitigating circumstances. We've struggled in all our post European games, and we just had more of that jaded flatness that we saw against Killie. I also don't buy into the narrative that the Tims are pish. They've got 5-6 very good players and struggle against teams with an aggression that we lack. They'll put 4-5 past someone shortly and everything will be back to normal. Their manager will be being hailed as a breath of fresh air for Scottish football by the end of January.

It's difficult to muster up much enthusiasm playing them at Parkhead and didn't waste my time following it today.

Doesn't sound like I missed much.

He's made a poor pass, it's a mistake, and it's something many players do (Milne did it in midweek, Keskinen/Lobban both combined to gift the first goal).

The saves he made kept us in the name. He's still a very good goalkeeper.

But that's on Thelin.

Karlsson shouldn't have played 90 minutes in midweek. Aouchiche played 86 minutes. Shinnie being on the bench while a young inexperienced player in Lobban started contributed to how things went.

Problem is, it’s becoming a habit with mitov, costly mistakes in many games, no?? At the same time we’ve had some shutouts, but I just think he’s not that good.

agree on kiseeek, aouchiche karlsson etc should have been rested.

Who in the league would you swap him with?

I still think he's the best goalkeeper in the Premiership, his confidence is rocked just now and yeah, a few too many mistakes are happening - potentially it's a mental thing, just a bit of weariness, and I wouldn't be against Sumans getting a game or two just to let Mitov sit a couple out.

However, I think he absolutely should still be our first choice goalkeeper. Best we've had for years.

Mitov is one of the better shot stoppers in the league but his awareness is next to zero and he is rubbish at crosses and clearances. I would hope there is better out there but asking who I would pick from our league is limiting the choice to a local charity shop and not a good one at that.

Mitov is a goalkeeper

A lot of our problems come from the fact that our manager thinks he’s Franz Beckenbauer

I agree. Sort of. I don't think our squad is that good though, and the luxury of resting Aouchiche and Armstrong isn't a given. There's not a team in our position that hasn't struggled after European games, it's a big factor. I think Thelin got the balance wrong over the two games, but I also don't think it's a glaring error given the difficulty.

Agreed. He's actually not terrible with his feet (better than Joe Lewis was for example), but some of the passes he's attempting are wild. The one to Lobban today is a difficult pass by any standard. If he was told just to keep things simple, I doubt we'd have issues.

Keepers get a lot of hassle for their kicking, but most folk fail to take into account that they're often the ones making the longest and hardest passes that would go wrong 9 times out of 10 for an outfield player. Even worse when they've just had a pass played onto their wrong foot, or right into their feet. It's not an easy game for a goalie.

I guess the "We've struggle in all our post European games" is your summing up of our performances rather that the results because we've won 3 games, lost 3 and drawn 1 after playing in Europe.

Really? I thought Lewis was class, and definitely better! Last season or so Lewis lost confidence, but he was a legit keeper.

Yes, the performances have all felt that we were just trying our best to get through the games. Including the ones we've won.

Pile o' pish

Switched aff after 45

Made the fatal error of switching back o'er from the darts once the "Live Score" advised me we had shocked the football world and actually scored.

Even at that point, I really should have realised that was more likely than the Victims finding a winner was me getting rat arsed on Malbec before I have finished cooking Xmas dinner.

For those that don't quite get that, it has been tradition in our household for the past thirty eight years 😂

Totally agree on the Celtic front, they’ll settle and have the best squad in the league for certain. They’ll move on and I agree, win the league. I think they’ll sign some quality in January and kick on.
I suppose a 3-1 loss isn’t the worst, but another very poor performance. As I said before, that was a Mcinnes type game where I felt we hang on pretty much from kickoff. Thought we could hav been more aggressive, but then I do factor in Europe and did we have the energy to do that. I suppose I was more disappointed with home draws with Motherwell and st mirren. Points lost there.

curious for more thoughts on bilalovic and Kjarten. Can they have a lobban type effect and be regular performers/starters??

Kjartanssan  & Bilalovic looked like they should be starting games

Lazetic was pretty awful with his lack of control  - should've been off much earlier
