Dons vs Livi 13/9/2025

Livi have proved to be stuffy as expected, so again, what should be an easy game won’t be. Interesting to see what changes given the signings we’ve made, although I’d expect karlsson and Armstrong will be a while away. Nisbet should be fit and should start. We can’t afford to fuck about with Yengi at all. I’d expect Milanovic to miss out having travelled back from NZ this week. You’d think we might even get a glimpse of Gyamfi, at least for the last 20 mins or something.

Can't get the team to post, but it's like mine, but Aouchiche in for Lazetic and Dorrington for Milne. Decent lineup.

Yer welcome.

Glad I spent so much time this week making Yengi graphics and talking at length about him faking his brother, only for him not to be in the squad.

Anyway, have secured these bad boys down in Glasgow (it's a rowie though, min) and feeling a sweet 2-0 win.

Good balance of experience and youth there. I suppose we should look at nisbet kind of as a player coming back from injury versus a new signing. Knows the club manager and many players.
lazetic (and Armstrong?) should get 20 mins or so, keen to see us hit form!

Unsurprisingly, I meant facing.

Where's the sub editors here?

Definitely clunky, but it can’t be perfect immediately. We definitely need a goal for confidence. Hey one and I think we’ll see more.

Topi is pish

No shots on goal in the first forty five

Seriously need to up the ante here otherwise can see a sucker punch incoming as Livi look to time waste at every opportunity and hope to hit us on the counter

Looks like the system and the set up is working, it's the finishing touch that's missing.

Topi and adil just don't really work. Running about but achieving fuck all.

Karlsson did ok on debut. Our delivery is poor, Jensen takes too long to fire it across way too often.

Palaversa gave the ball away more in ten minutes than Nilsen did the whole game but somehow Nilsen gets stuck.

Only positive is we looked solid at the back today.

The balance in the credit column is decreasing week on week.

I really have nothing else to say right now.

Far too pedestrian. Too slow to get the ball forward, too slow to get to loose balls, too slow to take fucking throw ins. Gyamfi and Karlsson looked good though.

Aye, that was gash. That was a Livi team that didn't come just to sit in too. They, justifiably, felt they could match us. We were dogshite. First half we were fine, working our way into it, but Aouchiche was gash. Keskinen winning the ball well then proceeding to make the wrong decision every fucking time is a bit tedious, as is Jensen being Jensen. Nilsen and Shinnie were fine, Gyamfi fine. The subs were of a manager who doesn't know what the fuck he's doing. Just a fucking mess. Complete disarray from the first inexplicable sub onward. Just throwing players on for the sake of it. Palaversa was exceptional in his shiteness. Lazetic very ropey.

Nothing good about this team at present, and nothing to suggest otherwise from the new signings. Disagree about Karlsson, thought he looked distinctly average. Could come good, but looked like a guy who could be easily marked out the game in our league. Gyamfi is a unit, unexpectedly. Armstrong coming on in midfield (as opposed to the McGrath role) is a massive worry.

I fully expected him to replace topi in our team

Positives, we didn’t lose or conceded. Think our left back looks decent. Karlsson created for himself and others. Not much but it’s there. Main negative, no win no goals.

willing to give us time, it’s been a huge overhaul in players over the last year. But we were slow and clunky. We need to gel and get chemistry fast. Very clear we’re a bunch of players who don’t know each others play or habits.
concerted topi and adil are too similar, run around a lot with minimal end product. I’d be inclined to go with milanovic and karlsson wide with Armstrong at 10. No clue who our best two center mids are and what partnership works. Can’t stand seeing polvara at left mid. Would rather see the new young Swede who is a winger.

similarly to rangers, we are a team without chemistry or identity, and look rather lost. Certainly hope we pull it together. Although we’re prob similar to man utd bringing in so many players year after year, they have looked lost for years. Brings me back to Scottish players and identity, hope we find it with a core of long term consistent players.

We seem to be entirely predictable to defend against.

A note on Clarkson, somebody I think who should be starting every game as he’s our best passer. Fucks knows what he was doing out on left wing, very bizarre tactics. Then he got involved with somebody in the South Stand (not quite at the level of what McKimmie did) which was sad to see.

Problem with Clarkson is I don’t think he suits a 4-2-3-1. At the same time I don’t know if we have two deeper midfielders who suit this formation. Think we may be better suited to a 4-1-4-1 where one player sits with two more advanced/attack minded. Think that would suit the likes of Clarkson palaversa Armstrong shinnie and polvara, most of our central midfielders actually.

That seemed to be what he attempted to a degree when Clarkson came on. Palaversa was quite central, with Armstrong and Clarkson ahead. Whether that was deliberate or not is debatable.

Aye, they weren't great. Very similar to our performance.

Yet another unfamiliar front three not quite getting it together, but individually I thought we weren't too bad save for a large spell in the second half.

Created some really good chances. Aouchiche has two, Nisbet one, Jensen and Palaversa forced good saves, Polvara hits a post, Karlsson goes close too.

There was a few times too there was a touch of the Elfsborg about us; Dorrington picking the front three out and we were on their back line. Sometimes you can see moves that have come from the training ground, but we just don't quite get it to work in a match.

It'll click at some point, I'm sure of it.

And, defensively we were okay too. Gyamfi isn't going to be racing up the byline much by the looks of things, but he's like another centre half at times and compliments Knoester well in that respect.

Got to remember we had four debutants today (although granted one of those was Nisbet). Those four plus Lazetic are all lacking games and match sharpness. We'll see more from all of them. Crucially, all look like they have seen a football before.

The next three games (Motherwell twice and Dundee United away) will be interesting as they both look handy up front, but are conceding for fun at the back.

Just watch the highlights and we certainly had chances, couple of really good ones too in aouchiche right at the start, karlsson, and Clarkson in particular. It still has to click, with chemistry, and a bunch of players still not fully match sharp, plus the two today who have never played in the SPL, and others while little Scottish experience. I think we’ll come good, and based on results everyone is taking points off everyone except Celtic and hearts. I hate that the transfer window is open for a month of our season. I also hope we reflect on the number of preseason games we play. We look slow and need game time. It will come!

This is why I prefer DT. Constructive reviews of the game, as opposed to FB which is just filled with "sack everyone"
