The boy at Motherwell has transformed their style in weeks. Is Jimmy over complicating it and they're too busy thinking to play? We've also invested heavily with little sign of progress. Hearts now allegedly spending £1.75m on their new guy suggests we will have some real competition financially. It's hard to make money on players in a struggling team. I agree with whomever said he has three more games. If he doesn't get something he will be gone by Christmas as the stadium will be empty. Quote

I agree with whomever said he has three more games. If he doesn't get something he will be gone by Christmas as the stadium will be empty. The Motherwell lad has apparently transformed their style, but so did Glass with us. It's just that every single goal conceded for both is from an error caused by a player trying to be too intricate and giving it away. It won't be long before the Motherwell fans are bemoaning the passing out from the back, despite its apparent easiness on the eye. I don't think we're overthinking, just that we've got several players who are very average. Coupled with lack of preseason and additional European fixtures and it's showing. I don't think Hearts investment is going to make a huge difference. At best, they'll get a slightly better player. There's not enough difference financially to make a consistent difference. It'll all be down to the things I've already mentioned, which is the balance of the side, pragmatism, experience and a good dose of luck in the transfer window. Our investment hasn't set us apart from the rest to date, and I doubt Hearts will. Quote

Winning the league or consistently challenging for 3rd and getting into Europe most years? If it’s the latter, you’d get similar return out of someone like McInnes/Robinson without having to wait 3 years, especially with the amounts we’ve been spending on transfer fees during the last 3 windows. The proof will be in the pudding re the upside but the aim, I would suggest anyway, is to get a team on the park that consistently is greater than the sum of it's parts. What that looks like in terms of results is always going to be evolving based on who we are playing and what state they are in. E.g beating this current celtic side would be less of an achievment than the one that started last season. Say Thelin gets it right and this time next season we are far more of a honed and settled team then that would be the baseline for a Thelin team. The strategy then is to raise the baseline season after season until the club reaches it's natural ceiling and can't really go any further unless there is a major change in circumstances (in our case there's only one thing that could do that as things stand and that is qualifying for the league phase of CL and all the money that brings). Then you see what happens quite frankly, it's sport.... there's so many variables and anything can happen. 2 Quote

We really need to start seeing something and something positive fast. I would genuinely be shocked if we are in the relegation dogfight come xmas 2bh. Quote

To me, losing to Falkirk was the first real shock result of the season, and even then it was with 10 men after a first half when we should have had a lead. It's result that could happen to everyone. Hearts away, Celtic home, and the Romanian champions away are not worthy of throwing the toys out and demanding Thelin's head. Big September. Livi at home and the Motherwell double header. Win them all and we're motoring, in a semi final, and ready to conquer Europe. 1 Quote

That, and the fact that we're watching players who don't really look that good. We've lost the assists and goals of McGrath, Gueye, Morris and Nisbet, replacing with worse at present. Without something today, I don't think many teams will be frightened of a visit to, or from, the Dons. Quote

And this is the problem at the moment and why a lot of folk on social media are getting their knee jerk on, we just feel a bit toothless other than 20 minutes against FCSB and a few goals against Morton (whose manager had other things on his mind as it turned out). I'm encouraged we are going for it with Nisbet. He defo offers something different and given the average age of the frontline brings good experience too. 1 Quote
