When did we last play Stirling Albion? Must be a while ago. Be quite a tight schedule in that early part of the season, we should probably consider rotating the squad a little for that Raith game.
-
It's fairly straight forward. We don't currently have a left sided centre half, so we absolutely need to sign one of those. It's in the top three priority wise (I'd say the top, but it doesn't matter). If we sign Hector, then we've got two very expensive centre backs on the bench (plus McRorie as cover for that position if required). We're not going to turn down signing Hector because we want to play Gallagher, but because we've already got Gallagher and it might be difficult to offload him. My point throughout has been that we shouldn't sign players without offloading others first. I actually don't know what you're suggesting? Is it that you think we can not sign a left sided centre back? Or do you think we can have a squad containing Gallagher, Bates and Hector? Otherwise we're in agreement, that Hector could only join in place of one of the existing players (although I wouldn't be entirely comfortable with a player like Bates on the bench, that'd be expensive).
-
We have two right sided centre backs and no left sided centre backs. McRorie can also cover on the right. All three are shite on the left. We've just had an entire season of proof of how disastrous that is. I've never seen Hector play on his wrong side to pass comment, but you don't actively sign a player to play on his weaker side for obvious reasons (it's fine if it happens due to injury of course). We should only sign players who are an improvement if we're removing others from the squad. Otherwise that budget is taken from another area on the pitch. The last thing we need is the expense of both Bates and Gallagher on the bench when we could spend that on a good attacking midfielder. At our level, it's always an either or.

I actually thought it was an alright signing, he clearly had something about him at st Johnstone and McInnes had tried to sign him previously. What was weird was St Johnstone sending him out on loan when he'd done enough at us to suggest he'd be okay in this league. Suggestions that he's going down South anyway.
-
I think we need to stop signing players in positions that we have shit loads of cover just because they're available. Call it the McGeouch protocol. If we get rid of Bates and Gallagher then we could get him.
-
When's our European draw?
-
Aye, I'd have him here. Great asset to a team. Pursists wouldn't appreciate him, but I'd love to seem him tanking up the line and booting fuck out of folk.
-
Saints smash caley 4-0 to win the playoff 6-2. Davidson must stay.
-
Get Rooney called up instead of Paterson.
-
Aye, I guess that just sums up where we are as a squad. I think Scott Wright (through gritted teeth) should be in there, because other than Christie, I don't see anyone else with that drop of shoulder and change of pace to create something out of nothing. Otherwise, I can't really think of anyone pushing for a place further forward (and the lad Jacob Brown is clearly pish). Our midfield is fairly sewn up too, so a token call up for Ferguson is just that.

Dons' win the cup?

I'd be interested to see if there are official guidelines at the club for players. It is virtually impossible for a player to go to a game and not be photographed in today's society, so there is no way that McRorie could have gone without it getting back. There are also bound to be situations outwith the player's control in terms of song singing, crowds etc that will occur when they are there that might show them in a worse light than intended. All that is very obvious, so it makes me wonder if the club have protocols or if they don't give a shit either way? For example, not commenting on the other SPFL premiership teams on social media, having to seek permission to attend a rival's game etc. Or do we think that the "training" is very basic?

Very interesting. It looks like they haven't pursued legal action, just asked the EPL to investigate. Would be very interesting to see if that brought up anything untoward, but I imagine that if it did it would be months and months in the future. I can't see a quick investigation taking place, say in time to save Leeds or Burnley from relegation. It'd be interesting to see if they pursued compensation if an investigation does find something, or legal action if the EPL refuse to investigate. Everton's losses do seem to be suspiciously high. In terms of the Huns, the financial fair play rules will be easy for them to get round I expect. I actually don't know what they're set at in terms of losses in this country, but it's likely to be significantly weighted in their favour allowing them losses that will exceed the combined turnover of all other clubs.
-
Yep, but unless it's an issue that the club are willing to tackle then the problem will still exist. I'm guessing that the hatred may even be profitable for them. I mean it's fairly difficult to turn off, even for the most sensible of fans. I'm correctly expected to hate the Huns in every single way until the brief period that one of them joins us, then he's ours. I'm expected to hate Jack and Wright for doing the opposite of McRorie. I was very happy when they lost in Europe, but should I rethink that position? Because, let's be honest, the whole partisan thing is total bollocks that should have been left in the playground, but it's also why we're Aberdeen fans. It's really difficult.

Looks and sounds like a bellend. Classic Hibs.
-
Fucking ban them. It's only old cunts that post on here anyway.
-
No, that's all it was, plus his brother still plays for them. McGinn was regularly abused by the Dons support for being a Tim, culminating in the "he disnae try against them" nonsense. I agree with you, there should be no issue, but there will be. Who are these kids that want other Scottish teams do well? That doesn't sound like a thing.
-
If you think it through properly, you don't go. Although, I've not seen any verification of the only photo I've seen I should add. It'd just be nice to sit at pittodrie and not have many of the support hating a current player for who he supports and constantly questioning their loyalty. The problem for McRorie is that he's not good enough at fitba to be doing things like this. Any doubts about his ability will just get magnified now and supporters will be even quicker to turn on him. I'd like to see the club address it if he is there. Either to force an apology from the player or to back him and tell fans to get over it. We either expect our players to be absolutely loyal on and off the pitch while they're here, or we want to get rid of the tiring toxicity surrounding every single player who once played or supported the scum.

I was frightened to look at the internet all night. Safe to breathe again. Unless you're in Seville of course, although I've a feeling that they'll be too hot and tired for angry violence.
-
I agree, but I've kind of already consigned myself to the fact that they're favourites and it's a game that they will likely win. The most annoying part is that there's nothing particularly jammy or cheatery about their run. It's not like when Smith shitfested them to a final in 2008, they've played some really good teams and deserved to beat them. If it wasn't for who they are, and how they got to their current position, I'd say that they deserve... I can't bring myself to say it. In case of any doubt I might just have raised, I really hope that they lose. With Jack and Wright getting injured. Their fans to get taught a lesson by the Portuguese authorities.

The population of Seville?

You're right, I can't deny that if we were better in midfield and forward there would be less defending and less pressure. That's why I've said so in every reply. You're initial point was that you think that Bates and Gallagher would be a fine pairing for next season (that's the point I've been arguing against until now for avoidance of doubt). I'm saying that there are fundamental issues with that pairing that would suggest otherwise; and lots of them. Putting better midfielders (which I've suggested we might struggle to get better than Ferguson, Brown, McRorie and Barron) might paper over a few cracks. If we get a good front line, we might even score more than we concede. The evidence is fairly overwhelming that they've been terrible as a partnership though, you're definitely the one with the controversial opinion here, in case you're in any doubt! Lastly, I doubt anyone would accuse me, ever, of not digging deeper to make a point!

What about the other 30?
-
Three windows I'd say. If there's no sign of progress at the start of the season after next then let him go. You're right, one season isn't enough, but we should know past January if we're getting a good return on our signings and then another dig at it in the summer. I've got a feeling we'll keep Kennedy, and he'll be Goodwin's Ojo type project (and maybe a little bit of pragmatism). I'd still like to see Campbell here, because he just seems to have so much unfulfilled potential, and not in a Craig Storie kind of way, he actually looks like he could be very good.
-
Okay. You're probably in a minority of one who believes that there is nothing wrong with the pairing of Bates and Gallagher. I'm not for a minute suggesting that others haven't collaborated in our downfall (I specifically said otherwise), and I was purely using Considine and the percentages as an illustrative example - I thought that was fairly obvious. I think I've been fairly diplomatic about it, if you sat near me and heard the abuse that the pair get at pittodrie you'd think I was being too conservative! "Bring back Ifil and Bus" was shouted at one point. That's the level people see these two at, and it's not surprising given our worst finish in 18 years. I think the biggest problem for fans in the ground is that they're just so passive whilst they're fucking things up. It's certainly the worst pairing we've had since McGhee was here. Diamond and Ifil perhaps?
