  1. hmm interesting I suppose, not much interest for summer football, or even an earlier start Preferred Season 39% August - May Season 30% July - May (with winter break) 28% March - Nov Top League Size 10 Teams - 2% 12 Teams - 9% 14 Teams - 15% 16 Teams- 51% 18 Teams - 18% Also 52% claim they don't buy alcohol on match day Other than that is it not just a puff piece for the SFA?
  2. St Johnstone should have won that easily. Going to be a bizarre bottom six with the five city clubs all there while the small town clubs join the Tims in the top half. Wee trip to Edinburgh and Dundee post split makes me more likely to go to a few games and will be interesting to see if McInnes makes any immediate changes. Should have a good chance of signing off with a win at tannadice on Sat
  3. Yup and I'm really looking forward to them, well the next two anyway. Interestingly the bottom six could potentially see Dundee, United, Hearts and Hibs, and hopefully not us but if we are you would have got pretty long odds on all these teams being bottom six.
  4. ach fuck plenty of goals, just there were 4 for them and only 1 for us. Ours was a neat looping over head kick for McManus. 0-2 at half time and then looked like we were back in it with the wind at our backs but we lost a quick goal after getting back into the game and the wrapped up things with time to spare. Bit disappointing but number 3, Craig Murray looked good down the right and Kieran Gibbons was solid in the middle. Noticeable that their bench gave far more instructions, encouragement and criticism than our bench who just sat silently for the most part. They were also pretty pissed at the ref from the off, but then according to the camera man he was a jambo. Great wee set up Hibs have. 2 full size synthetic pitches that were being used by (I guess) their u16 team for a training match. Also about 4 full sized grass pitches plus whatever indoor facilities. Really is an embarrassment we have nothing like this. I know who I would choose to join if offered the choice between Hibs and Aberdeen.
  5. I'll let you know. I've seen then v Celtic twice in the last few weeks and they looked good but did lack a bit of cutting edge up front but their other scores in the league suggest otherwise so guess we'll find out if it was Celtic defence or my curse that was at play
  6. off to watch them play the Hibs kids today, looking forward to a good few goals
  7. Probably for the best, no rush, better to take our time and get it right (ha) and avoids having to listen to Sevconians bleat on about being cheated out of their birth right or something (although I acknowledge this is not a particularly good reason to do anything)
  8. Do they even look at the uefa calander before deciding this? UEFA Cup qualifying round 2: 18th/25th July - 2nd and 3rd from SPL UEFA Cup Qualifying round 3: 1st/8th August - Cup Winners European Cup 2nd Qualifying round: 16–17 July and 23–24 July So everyone could effectively be out by the time the season starts?!
  9. Really, wtf? Why in god's name are we starting the season in August by which time most our teams will be out of Europe? That's almost a 3 month summer break, half the SPL players will be Mark Yardley-esque by then. And yet again we have Sellick swanning off to feather there already well padded nest with a fucking friendly. Does any other league in the world allow pre-season friendlies to take precedence over League games. The sooner the SPL dies the fucking better
  10. How did they manage to have just the SNP speaking? Labour must be going mental. And does Tommy still count as a politician? EDIT: ah I see I misread what you meant, no politicans allowed, everyone agrees but SNP in a huff. Got you.
  11. I read that the organisers were going to quit because various political parties have been trying to take over. Also saw the SSP are quite angry at any attempts by the Labour party to claim any credit for taking part. Any other shit?
  12. The restructing has fuck all to do with rangers. The only noises about rushing them up the leagues are coming from Green and his mouth pieces, nobody else has the slightest interest. Shit Scottish football is still better than what passes as sport in North America
  13. rotten copy and paste job their Mizer. Looking forward to this weekend (perhaps more so after enduring Scotland) Should have won at killie but for the worst pen decision ever, better team v Motherwell and unlucky not to win and a cracking performance at Parkhead let down only be the usual crashing bottle and some bizarrely bad defending at set pieces. Should win on Sat and set us up nicely for a do or die (sic) v United.
  14. The singing section would have 100 folk max in it. Complete waste of space. The should however go back to only allowing kids (or atleast kids prices) in the Merkie. It is empty every week and every stand now has families in wanting to sit down, applaud politely and avoid fucking swearing. To be honest there are only two solutions to improving the atmosphere. 1) WIN FOOTBATCHES 2) Get everyone hammered, a la away games, and shove them all into a small area in one stand, kick out the stewards, let them stand and voila
  15. Wow. Just into administration having having built up massive (dodgy) debts, game against there supposed big rivals and 2,879 turn up? Perhaps they just don't care. I hope they do, would be shame if they went bust, especially as they won't be rushed back into the SFL like Rangers. Will be interesting to see how their administrator acts compared to Duff and Phelps months of doing fuck all at Ibrox.
  16. I'm sure it is from last week actually, so yes it is. Wee Gord did mix it up a bit, I've never seen 6 changes in an International team within a week before but given our complete lack of centre halfs and a treatment room full of midfielders his hands are tied a bit. Having said that the first 30mins v Wales must be some of the most depressing I have witnessed watching Scotland, and that says alot. No idea where we go from here but he has a fucking hard job on his hands. I think some of you (Mav I'm looking at you) are being a bit harsh on Strachan and he needs to be given time but it is going to be a long hard slog.
  17. Jack, Anderson, Considine, Milsom, McGinn, Hayes, Shaughnessy, Pawlett, Osbourne, Magennis,Reynolds. Probably a bit unfair on Robertson and deserves another year to see if he will work out. Magennis has looked our most dangerous forward in recent games, far more direct and physical than anyone else in the team and bags of enthusiasm and confidence which almost no one has. Not the best skilled player by a long shot but he has come on leaps and bounds this year and if Brown concentrated on playing him in his best position striker (or perhaps impact sub) rather than fucking about with him at rb, lb, rw, lw,cb then he would have had more game time, and I would argue on recent performances deserved more game time recently anyway. His performance was just one break away goal like Stewart or Zdricllic. He scored two, set up one and threatened throughout. Much like Mackie and Langfield before him, people seem more intent on hating for hating's sake than actually seeing what he contributes.
  18. Don't know if anyone has been following this story but needless to say it is a completely iniquitous charge that will fail to do what it claims, is impossible to enforce properly, and will hit those with the least and continue the Tory theme of divide and rule. Of course NuLabour set the country on this path and are doing very little to stop the Tories at present. Despite their rhetoric they failed to oppose it in Parliament, have refused to repeal it if they win the GE and have even refused to follow the SNP stance of getting their councils to prevent evictions due to the bedroom tax (presumably only because the SNP thought of it first and not because they don't believe it will work). This on the back of their support for the Tories in retrospectively re-writing the law to force people to work for nothing and refusing to vote against the Iraq War or Trident at Holyrood and you wonder what purpose they serve any more. Only way to prevent more of the same neo-liberal US style crap is to vote Yes next year, but of course you know that. Anyway a couple of good articles, and comments after them too, on how the bedroom tax saves little, will cost councils money they can't afford and the duplicitous behaviour of Labour. http://wingsoverscotland.com/hostages-of-the-bedroom-tax/ http://tinyurl.com/heraldbedroomtax
  19. Ok then, TF how as the average weight of the population changed in the last 10yrs?
  20. call yourself fans? In/Oot: In Prematcher: Lunch in town then the wonder that is Turnstiles Match: Jumping around behind a pillar postmatcher: Back into town to P.A.R.T.Y. Prediction: 0-1
  21. I wonder how the average weight of the population as a whole has changed in that period.
  22. Good, and inevitable, move. This season started with so much promise, and indeed some of the best football I have seen in years, but has petered out like so many before. I'm not sure I blame Brown for that, although some tactical decisions have been overly negative at times. Ryan Fraser leaving and a horrendous number of injuries are more to blame. Anyway strange timing, would have thought they would have waited till after the split which makes me think they have been forced into announcing sooner due to their prime target (?Adams) being pursued by others.
  23. Not sure why folk are so keen on Hartley but not Adams. If Hartley hadn't played a handful of games for us he wouldn't even feature. Is going to come a poor second in the 2nd Div with an Alloa team that is having money thrown at it (in relative terms). He's been a manager for less than a season and hasn't done a huge amount to convince he'll be a great appointment. Adams on the other hand has guided County to a runaway Championship in Div One and looks to have secured top6 with even Europe being discussed as a potential. He also got County to a Cup Final (what ever that is) and has several years of experience and progression under his belt.
