  1. If we lose 0-2 and Hearts draw we are tied on points and goal difference - what happens?

I notice in Spain that it is not goal difference that decides but head to head - we are 2-1-1 with Hearts if it means anything.

As long as it's not 1955/56 all over again

  2. I find it laughable that we affected the wee pr*ch sooooo much he had to comment.

No doubt the west-coast-biased-meeja (which doean't exist (NO REALLY it doesn't)) will still find us at fault!

"Aberdeen in 'Supporters Making Noise' shame"

  3. I dont think it is that we are unable to pay 70k, it is that the boy's agent told us that he would be free. Now if I was told that something was free, the sudden inclusion of 70 grand wouldn't exactly be a sweetener.

We do seem to have irons in the fire for once. We have one player on board already for next season, and from the sounds of things there could be at least another two more by the end of the month. I liked the sound of Bodde, but I won't weep salty tears if he goes to Swansea.

WTF, we're signing Davie Irons, thought he'd quit playing!!!! :o

  4. I think we need to look at wether or not Killen , or any other "target" will actually strengthen the current side.

Will another forward do that, or, as has been done to death is it the service to the forwards that needs sorted first?

Also, does he increase competition for places genuinely or is he either a guaranteed start or a back up player in which case no.

No point in paying wages to have a BIG squad, we need to strengthen specific areas and increase competition for places to keep the likes of Seve, Clark, Foster, dare I say Anderson at their best

  5. indeed, but in spite of their money and fanbase, we were probably only 2/3 players away from challenging the huns for 2nd this season.

money talks, but it doesn't always reap the benefits that are expected.

I would hazard a guess that we are a good 5/6 players short of challenging the huns for second.

    Plus a couple of referees?

  6. Just a thought here.....

....how many trophies have we won with a completely tache-less team compared to when we have at least one moustachioed first team regular?

I think you're onto something there MBT. Bobby Connor himself said in an interview with the sun (boo hiss) earlier this season that he thought Scottish football started going down the tubes because of the dearth of moustaches in the modern game. How many teams in the SPL have moustachioed players these days? It's a disgrace.

At our best we had Willie, Bobby Connor, Doug Bell............any others at that time?

  7. the old firm are in the spl, deal with it and challenge them.

Yes. We can compete with two "teams" riding on over 100 years of bigot-fuelled support (no way will we ever have 50000 season tickets or foreign "appeal" because we dont have their "historical" fan base; when did you ever hear someone proudly proclaim they were "Aberdeen-minded"?) that can buy the league year on year.

Remind me again how much the current evil empire spent to "build" their teams and how much we've spent?

I'd rather win the league and compete with them sure, but not at the cost of my soul!

  8. only four points between us, with you to play both the old firm and come too tynecastle.

better get my passport out again ;)

Why, are you going on holiday?

aye, euefa cup as usual.being a jambo you dont half rattle up the airmiles likesy

What the f*ck is that? :o

We'll be in the UEFA cup :D

  9. Personally I am not worried about Ando playing for Scotland.  As much as it is an honour to play for your country, I'd rather have him not risk injury and be healthy for us on Saturday.

Hate to admit it but I get less and less interested in the make-up of the side with every passing game.

Don't get me wrong, I'm as patriotic as they come, I love to see Scotland doing well, but I can't remember the last time I regarded Scotland FC as a genuine "international representative" team. It's the journo's pets picked by an SFA puppet.

I had the option to watch the Italy game on TV or go with the U14 shinty team to a game and chose the latter as it actually meant more to me.

  10. He is probably the third best keeper in Scotland right now. Read into that whatever you want, but only Boruc and Gordon are better than him. McGregor is a decent shot stopper and nothing more. He is a stop gap at best for Rangers. Which other keeper is of any real standard in the SPL? Langfield has been decent if unspectacular, and considering we dont seem to have any better options...

    Hear, hear!

  11. Preece was average at best. I hate it when people turn 'cult' or 'amusing' figures into amazing players in their head.  I would cry if we got Preece back but fair play to him for taking a wage cut etc.

As for Langfield I think if we could get money for him then we should punt him but is there anyone one better we can get......I doubt it.

If we can both make money on the deals and replace him with better then yeah, go for it

BUT I want to see us make money over BOTH deals, not get, say £100K for him then spend that and more on signing fees, wages, scouting, agents etc.

If we're going to be out of pocket at all then I say keep him!
