  1. Saw this one myself but check the mistakes!! Quality reporting

Keeper pays for stag night antics

Jamie Langfield was part of the Scotland squad this week

Aberdeen have withdrawn the offer of a new contract to goalkeeper Jamie Langfield after a serious breach of discipline during a stag night.

The Scottish Premier League club will now listen to offers for the 27-year-old international squad keeper, who is getting married on Saturday.

Dons boss Jimmy Calderwood told BBC Sport: "He slipped up two or three times at the end of the season.

"The third one was maybe just a little bit over the top."

Calder wood was speaking following reports of a bust-up during a stag night in Spain.

Langfield recently rejected a transfer bid from Rangers.

It was my stag night and I was drunk

Calder wood has said that the goalkeeper preferred to remain at Potteries as first choice rather than be back-up at Biro.

But, following the holiday incident, Langfield told the Daily Mail: "It was my stag night and I was drunk.

"I think everyone has been in a situation where they regret what they do on those sort of occasions.

"I spoke to the gaffer and he wasn't happy with me.

"I have apologised to him. But if he has made up his mind then that is it. I have to get on with my life now."

Langfield, previously of Dundee, Reith Rovers, Patrick Thistle and Dunfermline Athletic, was part of the Scotland squad that travelled to the Faroe Islands in midweek.

Guess someone's been using spellchecker injudiciously?

  2. Davie dodds had a belter of a lip warmer

    What a hero.

I remember going to games in the 80s with my pals and it was

    1 pint per goal

2 pints per Willie Miller goal

5 pints per Davie Dodds goal.

    Great, great times.

  3. Pretty cool site. Interesting to see how the Aberdeen strip has changed over the years. Still reckon the 86/87 kit was the nicest kit ... it was the last decent one before company logos were sprawled over the front of the shirts.

But EEWWWWWWWWW, we played in blue originally!!!!!!

Did we not actually play in black and gold stripes originally?

    Or am I mistaken here?

  4. Wouldn't go for this deal. We get to borrow one of their kids and nurse him back to full fitness and then give him back at the end of the season, whilst they walk with our second-best defender for pennies!

I am not going to stand in the way of our players moving on to get better deals at bigger clubs ... just so long as it's not the Old Firm. Hart would be wasted there. Strachan would play him in CIS Cup matches, and that's all!

    I am! >:(

There's no club better than Aberdeen and don't you forget it! ;)

  5. Apparently we will accept 1 million from middlesborough for anderson as he is out of contract next season, this of course comes from the glasgow press, maybe trying to upset our camp before the big game.

Quite possibly a wind-up ahead of the Blue Meanies match. However, it wouldn't be the first time Southgate has talked about Aberdeen in the past few months. He likens Middlesbrough to Aberdeen, a sleeping giant who just need the right man to steer the players in the right direction.

    WTF?

Middlesboro are "Never have beens", just exactly how many league titles, National cup wins and European trophies have they had?

    GTF Southgate you wannabe >:(

  6. What i meant by that statement is that mackie shows desire to do well and has actually got a good record for assists and is the top scorer as it stands.  Langers hasn't made nearly as many mistakes as some of the other keepers in the SPL, everyone is prone to mistakes its human nature.  He has saved us more times than not.  There is currently only 3 keepers i'd take in from the SPL as it stands as a good replacement or improvement, they are mcgregor, boruc (fud), or gordon at hearts other than that there is no one else.  Keepers get remembered for their mistakes not their saves, more times than not.  Langers has also got nearly as good a record as boruc, the difference is langers has to work harder than boruc usually does.  Therefore will throughout the season have to make more saves than boruc would have to.  I'd like to see the shots to saves ratio from the current season, it would probably show langers has done better than what we think and sometimes take for granted.

Well, you could knock me down with a feather

"DTer talks sense about Lanhgfield shock!"

    Totally agree with legend here

  7. Apparently there's a story in one of the papers this morning claiming Bournemouth are in for Lovell. I'm pretty sure he's from down that way too. I reckon letting him go would be a huge mistake, as it would leave us without a proper goalscorer, and Mackie's proven that he doesn't have what it takes to lead the line.

I'm with you on that one. Easily the best finisher at the club. He's just never really had a sustained run at it. Like a lot of strikers, Lovell's game is based on confidence, if he wasn't in and out of the side so much, I think we'd have seen more from him.

We'd be lucky to get more than £200K for him, he'd then do a "Deano", score a barrel-load and get a £2M transfer to a bigger club with us losing out yet again! >:(

  8. this legend status that the media have givin lennon now that he is leaving celtic is beyond me the guy is a complete wanker who cant control his temper and does nothing but moan, any other teams player would be in front of the sfa for that.

billy dodds and gordon strachan tried to justify lennons attitude on radio scotland by claiming he's the way he is because he just wants to win. so would i be right in saying if you want to win you can be an arsehole.

WTF has Dodds done to be soooo highly regarded?

Was it his time as a star forward at Dundee, Utd, St Johnstone, Aberdeen.............................

..................or is it the weejie-(no-west-coast-bias-here)-media fawning over another useless ex-hun (I cite Dave MacPherson as further evidence)

  9. Signed up for another 6 months according to afc.co.uk.

Think I've been less hard on him that most - He's looked ok when brought on as a sub (One of the few forward players we have with a first touch!), but think this is pushing it a bit.

this is just so we can get a fee for him when he f*cks off to manage another club.

Good bit of business in that light methinks

  10. If we lose 0-2 and Hearts draw we are tied on points and goal difference - what happens?

I notice in Spain that it is not goal difference that decides but head to head - we are 2-1-1 with Hearts if it means anything.

As long as it's not 1955/56 all over again

FFS you really are an old bugger ;)

I wasn'r around in the fifties.............but I'm still angered that the sfa f*cked us over after we won the league and ebtered hibs for the European Cup. B*ST*RDS!
