TF I compared the "raw" Willie Miller with young Zander yes. And I am old enough to remeber Willie being a bit "rash" at times before he became "best penalty box defender in the world" (A.Ferguson quote) Zander has the commitment and drive to be captain, need to learn the "nous". We'll only find out if he has it if he's given a shot at it.

I apologise for being a bit anal here....and renewing the whole Maguire/McGuire thing, but it's Magennis isn't it? As opposed to MyGuinness, which you'd better leave well alone if you know what's good for you!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the young Willie Miller wasn't exactly reknowned for being his calm, implacable, perfect self when Ally made him captain was he. Still seemed to pick up red cards quite frequently if memory serves!

Well, looking at our history, Buchan was a young captain, Miller was young when Ally gave him the nod, so maybe young, centre halfs is the way to go?
