  1. I'll buy him a pint. Seriously, I would be happy to. He would have to stand and talk to me while he was drinking it though. If I'm buying him a pint, I at least want to find out if it's alcohol that contributed to him thinking signing Stuart Duff was a good idea.

    JVC

So does no-one know why the tops were sold without the sponsor then?

    JVC

Yeah, I do recall seeing some with a logo on, and guessed it was a DIY job. Tippex was another option for getting it on there too.
  4. Just been reading that the OF are removing the sponsors logo from their kids replica shirts, as part of the responsible drinking drive that appears to be in vogue at the moment. This brought me to thinking of my old umbro kit from the late eighties when we were sponsored by JVC, which also did not bear the sponsor's logo on the replica kits. As far as I'm aware, this was the case on all kits, not just the kids ones, so clearly not a previous push to get kids away from electrical goods. This has probably been explained before, but can someone tell me why this happened?
  5. I am going to be popping into the St James Centre shortly. Does anyone want me to pick up a job lot of the new t-shirts they are selling in the club shop? 6. If I had the choice, I wouldn't. In fact, if someone gave me a a choice of doing something that would ensure that I could do nothing - or more accurately, that would see me free to do whatever I choose, then I'd bite their hand off. It's just a job for the vast majority of them. They may start out as fans like the rest of us, they may even go back to being fans when they finish playing, but ultimately it is work and people work to get paid. I had great ideas about a sparkling career when I started out, but things change, work is less important than my personal life, and while I still want to do well professionally, my main concern is getting paid well enough to enjoy the other things life has to offer. Ok, there are status things that come with winning trophies and competing in Europe, but when it comes down to it, it's a living. Playing in Europe could amount to going out to a Scandinavian/Eastern European nobody, and lets face it, we don't exactly have a heaving trophy cabinet at the moment.
  7. Is the game not on Saturday? It's only Tuesday today. How can anyone know? I suspect shoes (probably trainers I would think), trousers (most likely jeans), and something on my top half, ranging from just a t-shirt to t-shirt and some sort of top, and possibly a coat/jacket, depending on the conditions. mon the dons.
  8. While I am pleased for him, I wouldn't think a couple of goals against some Danish kids would have any impact on the need to loan him out to toughen him up, that is still required.
  9. Yeah, it probably was a little excessive thing was, as soon as it happened, you knew what was going to happen and he should have known that too. Stupid booking that probably cost his team a point at least. Incidentally, how did you manage to see what he did from the queue for Bavarian delicacies?
  10. For the long term reasons I gave, I believe that not acheiving top six this season IS excusable. I did state that I made my comment without wanting to overstate the potential of the current side. Clearly they, and the current management team, are not and never will be on the same planet as the side of 83, but even that side could not fight on all fronts (see failing to prevent United winning the league in 83) and this is simply a watered down version of that. The hope is that by having an (excusably) poor league season this year, the players will have learned way more from playing in Europe than they would have from pipping Utd/Motherwell/Hibs for third place. You can't have everything, and I believe that, given the distractions that have been in place, and the additional burden on a threadbare squad, a failure to finish in the top six is excusable.
  11. Without wanting to overplay the potential of the current side, was it not widely acknowledged that one of the most important results for the team in the 80s was the shoeing they took from Liverpool, as they learnt so much from it? Maybe we didn't do well away from home, and maybe we did only win one from 8, but come on, this is the first team a lot of these guys have played in Europe. I noticed a huge change in the level of naivety displayed by the players as the campaign went on and I would hope they can take this on, and we can go back in there next season and do the same again. Ok, I appreciate the case for the 'winner's mentality' but you have to look at it in a more long-term basis, not just one season in isolation. Unfortunately, the squad has not been big/strong enough to sustain as good a league campaign as they did last season, but we still have a chance of Europe again, and hopefully next season can see a repeat of the European adventure, and an improvement in the league - steady progress.

  13. You missed off the free pies at the Copenhagen game...
  14. I am gutted to see that the Firkin in Falkirk has been binned in favour of Behind the Wall. Viagra man must be gutted.
  15. Sorry, I suppose it does make sense if I think about it. I was confused because, as we all know, that Hibs team was better than thhe Brazil 1970 side. I couldn't work out why you had used the example of an inferior side....
  16. Whoa, whoa whoa, sweet child of mine! What about the Hibs team of 2006??
  17. He is Aberdeen defender Ryan Strachan, age 17. Tells you in the article...
  18. Yeah, BBC has him listed as a scorer for that game. Can't have added the Celtic goal on yet obviously, same way they haven't added Makcie's They maybe just update the stats after all the games in each round are finished with...
  19. I feel sorry for the guys in the squad they couldn't fit into the photo...
  20. BBC says one in the league and one in the cup. Redweb says the same.
  21. That said, I know it was scored by him technically, but was the one Alan Combe chucked against Mackie's head really down to striking prowess? It wasn't even down to getting into a dangerous position...
  22. Indeed. Certainly for the semi anyway, as I can't imagine crowd trouble and segregation will be an issue for the QoS game Kings Park if you are playing Rangers...
