  1. I just think there may be more scope for people purchasing kits if there is a more prominent, well known brand plastered on the front of it. Ok the company itself may not do more to promote the club, but it may stick in the head more of people who see the top, and subsequently more attention may be brought upon the club. It may be bollocks, but that's my theory. I still think the point about the better it looks being directly associated to the number we sell being valid though.
  2. Well yeah, I care because the better it looks, the more they sell, and therefore the more money the club gets. Also, a higher profile sponsor can mean more media and market exposure - and also potentially more sales, and therefore the more money the club gets. Still baffled?
  3. I see some mention on Mad that this agency is John Hewitt's mob.
  4. No, no, no. Just; THAT'S A SHIT STRIP AND A RUBBISH SPONSOR. Ah fuck it, it's red I suppose, and as long as that was the best offer of money going then I suppose it'll have to do.
  5. Both look pretty shit really, and clearly the high profile sponsor never materialised. Ah well, that's quite disappointing. Fingers crossed they are getting a decent sum for it, but I can't see it.
  6. Yeah, you could see why last season's increased exposure would initially have attracted prospective backers, but you would have to think that when they realise we are just beack to facing the usual Scottish titans and no-one else, they may cool a little.
  7. It's maybe my age, but I am more interested in who the sponsor is going to than what the kit is going to be like. Financial benefits and profile related issues and all that jazz...
  8. I don't believe for a second that Celtic signed Riordan with the intention of sitting him on the bench for two years. As I have said before, having spoken to someone who has played with Riordan at both Hibs and Celtic, the opinion is that Riordan has not stepped up his level of commitment and effort since moving to Celtic. At Hibs he was a cut above a lot of the players there, and as such knew he was pretty much a certain starter as long as he did on the pitch in games. At Celtic, the difference in quality is not so vast, if evident at all, and as a result you have to move out of your comfort zone and show that you want that place more than the next man - by doing more than moaning to the papers about it. The examples of Caldwell, Wilson (when fit), Brown (until his injury), Robson (after Brown's injury) and McDonald show that if the players show the right attitude and application they will get their chance. As for looking for £1m for him, well I guess that price could be based on an Andy Webster type situation, and I agree it probably is too much for him, given the price they paid and the games he has paid, but I suppose if someone pays it, then that's what he's worth.
  9. If only I had the choice of slots, it's a nightmare playing at that time - far too many projectile objects flying onto the hall. I would like to emphasise I do not share Ajja's interest in youth... Slippiness was an issue initially, but have discovered it's not too bad with astro-turf trainers. Anyway, I bet no-one else cares about any of this.
  10. Quite probably. Especially if you saw me last night. Fucking awful I was. Far too hot in that hall, that's my excuse. I would also like to point out that it is not exclusively a youth club, it is a community centre, for use by all, which also provides youth centre facilities. Just to clear that up...
  11. It's a bit like Woodgate with Kennedy. Needs someone like Boro (us?) to take a chance and give him games and then he can move up the ladder again. That said, I probably agree that our board (quite possibly very wisely) don't want to spend our limited additional cash on a risk such as this. If fit, and if he could get back to his pre-Ganea form, then fair enough, but I just think there is too much of a risk there.
  12. Got that one wrong mate. I know there are a couple who have already played this card, but how can you ignore the 'good to have about the place' factor? You could probably throw in kicking his granny as well, but the chances are that would just be for badness, rather than to get a game...
  13. Sone Aluko. More down to appearance than anything else, but I have also been known to cut inside from the left and have a shot at goal, just like Sone did in Inverness.
  14. 39. After 10 years, someone has worked out we are stuck on a roundabout.
  15. So GS, what you're saying is that Padre had already summarised it? Interesting......
  16. For some reason that link isn't working for me - the clip isn't loading, and the download option is being denied to me by the good old work firewall. What was the gist of what he was saying?
  17. I never said that the football side was fun. I just liked the experience of shouting 'ein'. In a footballing sense, I would say it has to be considered a learning experience for the players, and at this stage, that has to be the point in entering...
  18. For the opportunity to shout 'ein' after the words 'FC Aberdeen'.
  19. Yeah, he might be the French Carlo Cudicini, just keeps moving to clubs with really good first choice keepers...
  20. It is a funny one, but is it not just stolen from people chanting at Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink?
  21. Thank you for being a good professional and giving everything to the AFC cause whilst in the employ of club. You did the job you were paid to do well, and to the best of your abilities, and that is all you can ask of a footballer - and a lot more than you get from a lot of them these days. Hope you get the contract you want in England and do well there. Peace out Barry.
  22. I see Barca have binned Hearts in favour of Hibs as part of their pre-season warm up. This must be down to them not wanting to give the psychological edge to potential Champions League opponents... http://www.sportinglife.com/football/scottishpremier/dundeeutd/news/
  23. I was about to ask if that was jmo, then I saw the url for the photo... It was the Stirling Uni prison walls I recognised.
