Everything posted by Mackie's ace!

  1. Must have been a while since you were last at Pittodrie.
  2. I see the EE have started revealing names before it's been officially announced by the police (at least there is no press release about it yet).
  3. Just saw a Sea King fly over having taken off from the hospital.
  4. Sky News saying it's a Bond helicopter again.
  5. He played with the Gothenburg Greats against the Paul Lawrie Select at half time in the Man Utd game in the summer. He was alright from what you saw in a 5 minute game...
  6. This cup upset thing doesn't entirely wash with me though. It happens to every team at some time or another - even the Chelseas and the Liverpools of this world! Okay so we've had 3 bad results against lower league teams under Jimmy's reign, but 2 of them were in penalty shoot outs (and anything can happen in them). I'm in no way excusing the results, but the whole point of the cup means lower league teams try harder and sometimes determination beats quality.
  7. Mark McGhee has an awesome cup record: out to Dundee, Hamilton, St Mirren and Rangers. Without a semi final in sight, too. You can see why he's held in such high esteem by Aberdeen fans.
  8. If WM was to come out in the press and give his manager anything other than support while he is still in charge of Aberdeen FC I would be embarrassed and it would certainly be unprofessional. The same goes for the players. Equally well while JC is still in charge - and as it seems he will be until the end of the season - we should be united. As pointed out 3rd is not an impossibility, but by some of the reactions I have seen/heard recently some people would be happier if we missed top 6 so we'd have an excuse to sack Jimmy!
  9. I will be very unhappy if we sack Calderwood only to replace him with another SPL manager. Hardly aiming to move us forward if these managers have largely, for the last 4 years, led their teams to finish behind Aberdeen.
  10. You need to change for BST under Look and Layout Settings in your profile. There's an autodetect setting but it's still 20 minutes behind.
  11. Hopefully be a good crowd tonight, I've heard a few folk going along who don't normally go or aren't Aberdeen fans.
  12. Very good! I'm not taking it personally, I'm responded to a post on a similar topic to which I posted, which is what forums are for... Don't think it warrants "get a fucking grip", as other people seem to manage to discuss his current drop in form civilly.
  13. I'm not making him a boo boy target, it's just an observation of the last 3 games I've seen him play in (Utd, Kilmarnock, Hamilton). I know he's young, and I know on his day he can be brilliant, but yesterday again like in the Kilmarnock game (I think) he took too long deciding what to do with the ball instead of getting it in the box. Hopefully he's saving himself for Wednesday.
  14. He certainly wasn't the sole target today. I don't know what it is with him, just young I guess and going through a rough patch.
  15. Maguire seemed to be Hamilton's target for putting two players on today.
  16. I noticed that too. Smith obviously still lacking match fitness and practice but once he has this it could make a difference. Have to rely on Aluko getting some form back too though.
  17. I forgot about Aluko. Probably because again he was quite poor. He really needs to stop fannying about on the ball and just play it into the box. Admittedly he was unlucky not to score in the first half, it was a good block. Also, Mackie when he came on got a massive cheer! Clearly G&WR wasn't at Pittodrie today.
  18. I would have to agree that it doesn't sound like something JN would say about JC in an interview...
  19. The game was pretty bad, but the wind had a lot to do with and neither team could do much about it - although Cerny's kicking was terrible! Maguire played very well, glad he got the sponsor's and Sportsound MOTM. Chased everything, was unlucky not to get a second from the header, not afraid to take the shot that led to the goal. Nobody else really stood out given the overall quality of the match. Mulgrew wasn't quite so bad this week, Mair was alright I think. Wright played quite well but was unlucky in getting an early yellow card as the ref clearly had no sympathy for him for the rest of the game. Comedy moments - Cerny, Hamilton number 17 taking a hissy fit that we weren't putting the ball back up quickly enough for a free kick, and the Hamilton player who got a yellow card at the end for being an arse. Also a special mention to the guy a few rows behind me who is part of JMG but someone how I have failed to notice his rants before. Today's quote of the day was "We're not at a fucking Sunday school picnic, get on with it" before going on to yell at Jimmy it was a fucking disgrace. Have to agree though that the current quality of refereeing is absolutely atrocious these days. The last 3 games at Pittodrie have certainly highlighted this! 3 points and United and Hearts losing was the best possible outcome today, so well done Aberdeen.
  20. It's a nice day and not too cold but very windy further up the coast. I think we're going to win, yasss!
  21. And have an even bigger stadium half empty! Good idea! I don't have the best luck at penalty shoot outs, the underdog has always won. I'll settle for 2-0, Mackie and Foster,
