"Jimmy Calderwood has based the club on young players and Aberdeen have a lot of good ones. That is their best way forward."
I don't think that, I always thought Jimmy generally based them around the more experienced age bracket.

I see Stockport are about to sign the guy Thompson for 100K.

I see Anthony Elding has been left out of Leeds tour of Ireland, he had a 1 in 2 record for Stockport before moving to Leeds in January. Worth a look?
Definitely. I've been keeping an eye on him for a few years (mate of mine is a stockport fan) and thought he wouldn't be out of our league. But i doubt he's on AFC's radar.

I'd say the online translator got it near enough right, word order is obviously wrong but yeah, the gist is right.

What's the lad Stuart Smith like?
Seemed to do ok from what I could actually see on Saturday. Internet connection was a bit dodgy though.
-
Good to hear Stuart Smith might be brought through. Another signing perhaps? Would be good to get Macnamee on board too. Fingers crossed these things actually happen, though still slightly reserved about Wright.

We've sold more season tickets this season than last season, source - ticket office. Whether that's in total, or more than at this point last season, I'm not sure.
I'm surprised by that. But I would imagine t would have been at this point last year as surely the signing of Macnamara would have shifted a fair few.

Not criticising Calderwood, I'm criticising the club.
Calderwood doesn't write the cheques or refuse to meet transfer demands. That would be our board.
And regardless of Calderwood's success, the CLUB has displayed the same ineptitude over transfers for the last decade.
You need to read for content before you start with the rolling eyes, Sparky.
I'd agree with that. Thing is though, we don't know how the club is being run or the transfer front is being run so its difficult to see who should foot the blame. But as you said, i'm inclined to say it lays at the feet of our board.

Personally, and I know that many will disagree with me, I don't really agree with cheering for the opposition team. They have just beaten my team, so I couldn't really give a damn about them.
Usually I'd agree with this, but because I do like United and obviously appreciate all Fergie did for our club I thought it was a nice touch. Though only because there were actually big stars playing (i.e I would have disagreed with them applauding their youth team off). I just hope our team got some valuable experiences from playing against them.

We're Dooooooooooooooooooooooomed!!!!
I don't think so at all, but we just have a hell of a lot of work to do and its just frustrating as hell since 3rd place was easily there for the taking. If only we'd have reinvested in the team after losing critical players.
And D_D, I completely agree. I just wish the club would act sooner rather than later. Surely it makes sense, and as you say, it allows the team to gel during pre-season. I guess we've never had this and never will. As I said, i'm just trying to embrace this..."wait and see mentality", as much as I hate it as these is not much influence we can have

meant to say as well - i know it was only a friendly, but fuck me, Foster's passing is nothing short of disgraceful.
It was horrendous wasn't it! Everytime the commentators mentioned his name, he lost the ball. Thought Miller and JdV played well and it wasn't the worst friendly i've seen us play. It was good to see the Aberdeen fans applaud the united players off as well. I just wish I could have seen Scholes and Giggs, true legends of the game and could teach our lot a thing or 10 on how to be professionals. JC was in the paper today saying Mackie's goal should have stood.
-
I dread to think what will happen should we pick up a couple of injuries! Imagine if we lost Diamond/Miller to a long term injury?
Been having the same concerns. It was threadbare last season, and its only got smaller. But there is still time, granted not long before the season, but I am really just trying to stay positive until the season starts.

Aye the stream from that site is pretty decent. Will be using it more often for live stuff
My stream has been terrible. Better in the second half mind, but the screen keeps freezing. Not a bad game though. Good save from Bossu.

I'm gutted I can't go, seeing vidic would be awesome. Him and Ferdinand could teach our defenders how to defend. Hell, Shame Edwin wasn't there to teach clangers how to kick.

I am quite happy to see AFC trying to secure signings for as little as they can get away with. Its what every business does and they would be neglegant in their duties if they didn't do it. The problem as I see it is I just don't think that JC and the others involved in securing these players are particularly good at their job. Guys like Levein and Hughes are just steadily getting on with the job of building their squads without all the bravado and gusto that surrounds our club. I'm not convinced Aberdeen have an effective plan to build a decent squad for next year and every player we are involved with, both internally and externally, only serves to compound that view as deals collapse or players hold out forever before rubber dicking the club. All of the problems that frustrate the hell out of us all are down to poor management from top to bottom. There may be people at the club who are capable in certain areas but we are woefully short of some outstanding stewardship at the Aberdeen FC, thats the long and short of it for me.
Completely agree Ajja.

Luton's 30 point deduction, should we maybe join the vultures that are circulating, cheeky bid for Parkin?
Scored a shed load at Swindon a few season ago so we know for sure he can score, still only 27, if I remember he's a big lad, and has a Scottish mum.
That would surely require some foresight from AFC? Pah There are a few decent players there aren't there? Or have the majority of them been moved on already?
-
3rd choice makes it worrying who our 4th choice is going to be???
I can believe that Afc would have tried to offer this guy less money. But i also believe this guy was prob playing us against his club for more money rather than uproot to Scotland.
Possibly, but he did mention he still wanted to try and play abroad. So when, not if, when FC Volendam get relegated, he'll seek a move again. But I'd hope by that stage we'd have found someone else
-
Funny how he says that players just disappear up here.
who else plays for darlington?
It's not his fault. He's backward cunt. Was it Darlington where they all send hate mail to their chairman who built a huge stadium that never gets filled?
-
if we have actually bid £100k for him then JC is taking a big risk on this one. as you say£100k is big money to us so if this guy ends up shyte then JC will lose even more fans.
Its a huge risk! I would have thought fair play if it was the guy killie were after who's an international etc...but then again, no risk, no gain. We'll just have to trust JC on this one.
-
We've bid £100,000 for this lad.
Sauce?
-
I would have thought we'd have matched the 2K a week. Bit crazy really. But then again, he's not an international (i know we wouldn't be able to get one) and he wasn't our top pick. Slightly worrying though that we couldn't even convince him to join. Oh well, onwards and upwards.
-
Last I heard Mulgrew was staying with Wolves.
Was there not some ridiculous fee (in our terms) being touted around?
-
I actually agree with most of you said. I'm not overly concerned about the beginning of the season just yet, but we need to make a couple of decent signings before then to allay any fears.
-
Alas I don't think our club had/has the foresight to act upon this. As you said, seems to be able to finish well enough. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens in the next month or so.

Is that what they call Feyenoord these days?
