  1. I'd love us to get six (who wouldn't, even Mizer wants us to win these days ;) ) but can't see it. Personally since i'm not sure if i'm going tomorrow yet, I'd rather a draw there and a win against the hunnery since I think this will be the make or break of my mate becoming an Abedeen fan  But also, i've never seen us beat the hunnery in person so would love for it to happen!

I've gone fo 3 points though.

  2. I'd personally prefer to see JDV in for Mackie. I know Mackie has helped create a couple of goals in the last couple of games, but JDV can keep the ball and is an intelligent passer.  Miller's craft and Aluko's speed and skill will cause them enough problems if we can get the ball to them.

Completely agree. One of my favorite goals from last season was the Miller one set up by JdV. Fantastic vision and awareness.

  3. Quite nervous about this one to be honest, or maybe wary would be a better word. Every time i've been optimistic about games against Celtic at home, we lose. As I Padre said, our defence looks a bit shakey, but I think our forward play isn't too shabby at the moment. Putting mackie up front might not be a bad idea, he's scored a few against Boruc hasn't he?

  4. GS is that really you?? ;) Thats a very positive post, keep it up

Chuffed with the result, kinda wish I'd gone now, but oh well, gave a good big cheer in the bar I was at   It does concern me though that the defence sounded woeful in the first half right before we play the gruesome twosome  :(

But a great result ! Lets hope we get something from the Oirish imposters

    :ultras: :ultras:

  5. Just back in from having 8 pints and so far munched through:

    6 packets McCoy's crisps

1 beef fajita i found in the fridge left over from Friday

    2 fruit pancakes

Im still hungry but refuse to eat the block of Edam cheese in the fridge although its very tempting. :-\ Thank feck im off work the morn. :hammer:

    Fat bastard ;)

  6. Maybe so, but they'd have to fork out compensation if he's under contract, and shell out more money for a new manager, unless they go for McCoist or Souness. Every little helps on the road to the huns' bankruptcy.

Could also argue, whilst he's been at stybrox, he's spent millions on useless players. So the longer he's there, the more he costs them ;)

  7. Ive just moved to belfast and am wanting to know if there are any other dandies over here? I know there used to be a Northern Ireland supporters club but AFC have told me the club no longer exists. If any other dons fans fancy meeting up to watch some games then could they PM me?

Check MAD. Someone posted after you

  8. Reds draw East Fife at home in the Scottish cup

Dons aim is unhappy return for Crawford

    By Michael Gannon

    Published: 12/01/2009

Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood wants to make Steve Crawford’s return to Pittodrie an unhappy one after the Dons were paired with East Fife in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.

The Dons were pushed all the way by Alloa Athletic on Saturday but sealed their place after a scrappy 2-1 win at Recreation Park.

The reward is a home tie against the Fifers and Calderwood expects another close game when Dave Baikie brings his team north.

He said: “With all due respect to East Fife, a home draw against a lower league team was the best we could have hoped for in the draw but, as we saw on Saturday, games against lower league teams are always dangerous.

“It is a great draw for Stevie and I am sure he will want to come back to Pittodrie and do well against his former club.

“We will have to do our homework on them.â€

Lee Miller, the scorer of Aberdeen’s first goal on Saturday, admitted he was relieved to avoid Celtic or Rangers.

The 25-year-old said: “You always want to avoid the Old Firm. You would like to see them drawn together at some stage and maybe get one of them in the latter stages.

“If you want to win the cup you will probably have to beat one of them at some point.â€

Miller was not satisfied despite firing the Dons into the fifth round of the cup and picking up the SPL player of the month award for December.

The forward was disappointed with his performance in Saturday's 2-1 cup victory at Alloa, particularly because Scotland coach Steven Pressley was in the stands at Recreation Park.

Miller impressed in Scotland's friendly against Argentina and if he maintains his current form should be part of national coach George Burley's squad for the World Cup qualifier against Holland in Amsterdam in March.

Miller's recent displays have not gone unnoticed, but despite some reports yesterday linking him to Rangers and Leeds United, Aberdeen have not received any enquiries about the attacker and Miller is happy at Pittodrie.

Miller grabbed an early lead for the Dons but Aberdeen allowed the Wasps back in the match when Miller conceded a penalty.

It took a second-half goal from Sone Aluko to ensure progress.

Miller said: “I was grateful to score because it at least made up for my performance. I was disappointed with the way I played because I set myself high standards and you want to reach them every week. My touch was not there and it was one of those days when not much went right.

“I know Steven Pressley was in the crowd but I do not think I did myself justice. I can play much better.â€

Miller was not the only one not at the races as Aberdeen toiled to overcome the stubborn Second Division side in horrendous weather conditions.

He said: “A few of the players were not at their best, but we managed to grind out the result.

“Alloa made it difficult for us. The conditions were not the best but they were the same for both teams. The artificial pitch was difficult to play on, but fair play to Alloa, they set their stall out and passed the ball well and a lot of credit has to go to them.

“I thought the penalty was harsh, that kind of thing happens all the time. It got them back into it but they probably deserved it because they created a few chances. We were not at the races but we are in the next round.â€

  9. Greetings Dons! Just a message from the manager of The Old Brewery. I'd like to thank any of you guys who were in the pub before, during (due to the pish weather) and after the game. I've looked at the posts on this site and others and while we are generally a family pub who wouldn't welcome "hoardes of drunk footie fans" I was never going to turn you away. We were a bit short staffed due to illness and I thought you guys were both patient and polite. I'd like to point out that I'm not from Alloa and have been managing the OB for only 6 months, but it is Alloa, they are not used to footie fans drunk or otherwise! I know there were a few unhappy Dons we had to ask to leave but there were a bunch of Hun casuals trying to cause trouble for us. I got your guys out first then got all of them out rather than the other way around. They were basically hanging around waiting on you lot getting back. Unfortunatly I think they headed to the ground and caused trouble there.

Finally that Website skin is a bit outdated. I've beeen trying to employ girls who are not all related to each other. Quite a challenge in Alloa!

Again, thanks and good luck. I've travelled all round Europe with my club and I appreciate a song and some banter and thats what I got yesterday.

    Tony.

Cheers! Was a good laugh, just a shame we kept being told to keep quiet by the bouncers, but it didn't dampen our spirits! Cheers!

  10. When Mackie missed it actually looked like it hit the bar and the ball ended up in the gman's hands. I could hear jute saying "keep a hold of it, keep it keep it"

I fucking grabbed it off of gman and threw it back on to the pitch. I didn't want the game to go on any longer than necessary.

I think it did, but still, only just just ;) Should have burried it!

  11. And Mackie missed an open goal from two yards apparently!

It was an absolutely shocking miss. How he did it I will never know, well I do, because it was Mackie. What a shite hole Alloa is, horrendous game/food queue/weather. Just glad to get the result we needed! Good finish by Aluko for the winner

  12. He's a goner. :(

    Is he offski? ;)

Seriously though, would be a big loss considering his experience. Not been his biggest fan for the past two seasons, but as BB said, the though of a lineup without him seems a bit scary. We'd be really lightweight.
