  1. Indeed, the Brandywell. Utter shit hole of a stadium but great atmosphere.
  2. What about this one (to European song, bear with me on a few lines): He is a Don, he's Mark McGhee He's not our first choice, but neither were we He's gonna do it, we hope like fuck he'll do it He's gonna do it for you.... He told the Jambos to fuck off He begged the tims for a job When the light of day showed there was no way He was a Dons man through and through. Ohhhhhh.... Or we could just go with: aberdeen aberdeen aberdeen. aberdeen aberdeen aberdee-een. aberdeen aberdeen aberdeen aber-dee-en A-BER-DEEN !
  3. Would he have to attach an image with that ?
  4. No mention of Paton or Pawlett or this Fyvie character that Barca, Real and Brazil have been tracking. Surely we will see young blood in the team next season and the likes of Duff, Young and some other random punter who should be criticised despite me not knowing who he is, will never grace the Pittodrie surface again.
  5. I reckon its quite pish and when ZD models it, it doesn't alter my opinion upwards.
  6. I'm hoping to see the Dons fans here: Their fans at Pittodrie would be a cracking atmosphere also.
  7. Not the best news. If he is only offering around half of the cash required to save them then he is obviously hoping to screw current creditors into accepting reduced amounts as a 'better than nothing' offer. Sounds like the kind of guy who will come in and take ownership at a knock down price and then fuck some shit up for his own gain. Struggling to see what gain there is though. Setanta is not a viable proposition no matter how you cook it. They were late into the market with their product and BSkyB, with an early entry have established the platform that makes all the cash. Any PPV set up who are hoping to use their platform are going to struggle to offer the same product (in this case EPL football) at a competitive rate. Its a shit business model and it will eventually fail. I'm fucked if I know why anyone would invest in it. Much better to wait until they go to the wall and pick up their packages in the resulting fire sale as the rights resort back to the client. This is going to go South. ND.
  8. The good old days when resorting to 4-4-2 against the hun at Ibrox was a defensive move
  9. My sources tell me it will either be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday or sunday.
  10. Is that 3 or 4 Thursdays in a row you have made this bold prediction ? Its a 1 in 7 chance I guess. Looks like it might be announced today and you can tell us all you knew it would be Thursday all along. Genuis.
  11. BBC radio saying today will be the day.
  12. Unless its down the local golf club
  13. Ditto
  14. Unfortunately, this is yet another example of why there is almost no point in time horizons of more than one season for fans of non-OF teams in Scotland. If you manage to secure a manager that can deliver any form of 'success' like 3rd place, cup win or a European run then you have very little possibility of keeping him. Thats why I am all for McGhee, he will give us a good season next year and beyond that is a lottery.
  15. Sure we had this discussion last year as well. I seem to remember that 50% of seeded teams are home first and 50% are away first. No pattern, just a random 50/50 split. Guess that means we have a 50% chance of getting away first
  16. Just watching the England U21 game on Setanta. They are 6-0 up and Pearce has just put his sub keeper on as a centre forward. WTF Taking the utter piss.
  17. Utter nonsense. Aberdeen FC acheived two draws against Dnipro (who were one of favourites to win the fucking thing), a draw against Lokomotiv Moscow, avoided utter humiliation by an Atletico side with the players they had, destroyed a CL side in Copenhagen and drew (almost beat) with Bayern Munich, the favourites for the tournament. Anyone who can suggest that was not an impressive run in Europe for the club that we are now is devoid of any sense of reality or perspective. This view that we only won 1 out of 8 games so we were poor or lucky is just so naive its juvenile.
  18. Its because he is the lyingist, cheatingist, sneakiest, stealingist, lovingist son of the old west... http://www.thedandies.co.uk/messageboard/index.php?topic=8835.30
  19. Jim Spence saying on BBC radio now that McGhee now talking with us and next week will be announced as our next manager.
  20. Spot on Penfold. I have no time for this mythical idea that you can find loyalty and unconditional committment from any professional player or manager. Every manager is in the same position with regards to climbing a career ladder. McGhee has not once come out and said publicly that he is waiting to hear if he is getting a better job (and lets not pretend it is anything other than that) before accepting ours. So all this outpouring of frustration from you lot is presumptious, emotional bullshit. You need to think rationally about the situation. If it does turn out that McGhee has been waiting then so what, the question is will he do a good job for us, its got nothing to do with where he would rather be. I'd rather be sitting in my Tuscan mansion or my yaucht in the Caribbean but in reality I give 110% to my employer because thats where I am. Get over this 'second choice' shite, its a childs view. We are always going to be less than first choice for every player and manager.
  21. Herr Henrik.
  22. Was chatting to a mate who knows a few of the backrom staff at Motherwell the other night. The word over there was that when McGhee was on the plane to see Mad Vlad about the Hearts job he got a call from Celtic/Strachan saying that he was going and the job could be up for grabs at Celtic. Thats why McGhee bumped Hearts. Unfortuantely, Burns threw a seven and so Strachan stayed on at Celtic for another year. I didn't check the timing of these events so its probably all pish but it might go some way to explaining why McGhee is holding out, despite Celtic appearing interested in candidates elsewhere.
  23. I'm sure they don't but have to move to protect their member clubs short term. Someone on Mad is saying ESPN might be in for the rights.
