  1. Rougvie was hardly unique though. He was probably THE stereotypical 80s full back. An athlete with tree trunk legs who'd bomb about all day. Stuart Pearce, Viv Anderson, Mel Sterland, Gary Stevens types. I'd say there has been a move away from that type of fullback though the boy Ivanovic fae Chelsea is a possible. Black = Berbatov?
  2. Nah, Strachan relied on his guile rather than pace to beat a man but he also tucked in quite a lot. Maybe Iniesta rather than Fabrega? I thought about Ayala for WM but Miller was more of a leader. as as mentioned there aren't a whole load of real sweepers playing today. Lucio is as close as I can think of today.
  3. Vidic is probably a better comparison for Big Eck. Jim Leighton - VDS Doug Rougvie - Alex McLeish - Vidic Willie Miller - Lucio John McMaster - Neale Cooper - Gordon Strachan - Fabregas Neil Simpson - Mark McGhee - Tevez Eric Black - Torres? (more like Van Basten but he's hardly contemporary), Pavylucenko? Peter Weir - Messi
  4. If infinite monkey theorem is anything to go by you'll be right once in your life
  5. I have family visiting this weekend and I can't be arsed with alcohol. I'm playing football tomorrow then out for dinner later. I'll round it off enjoying us rip the huns a new arsehole on sunday.
  6. Flying to Edinburgh in a few hours. Papal style. Sans famille. Out tonight, out tomorrow and then a wedding on Sunday in South Queensferry. Very messy.
  7. I didn't really find the movie believable, because it wasn't, but it did have a certain charm that the TV series lacks. I don't like it at all.
  8. He's in transition. My imaginary football mates told me. Tru Fakt.
  9. Fitba tomorrow and then a beach party with a load of people I don't know. Can't wait. .:-/
  10. A dead rat foresees a worrying time in Dundee.
  11. Luck, possibly, but I think that opportunities is a better word for it. A case might be that AFC wouldn't take risks on kids from certain areas in Aberdeen. I'd say that was limited opportunity.

    Andy Murray

If he get's his serve right I really think he's almost unbeatable but his % can fluctuate wildly. Strangely Henman-like in the second respect.
  13. Better than most, since he actually was a sportsman. Like I said it's an interesting theory. Maybe some stats on birthdays could prove that clubs are (or were) adopting an "althlete or larger kids first" philosophy. However, I still think the best will get to the top through talent and hard work.
  14. A quick check shows that Joleon Lescott, Glen Johnson and Phil Jagielka from the current England squad all were born in August. Although it's an interesting idea I'm not sure it stands up to scrutiny. Maybe Mizer could od us a graph.
  15. RIP That's a joke by the way. all the best min.
  16. Why in the name of lumping fuck are those pair of cunts deciding on matters of what amounts to employment law. I despair.
  17. Totally TF. I'm hopeful that this is a great signing now the full sp is known.
  18. I was speaking about the other example.
  19. Someone from an EU member state needs a work permit? WTF. That sounds like a restriction on freedom of movement to me.
  20. The Foster deal begins to make more sense. I think.
