Any reason why Rae wouldn't make the move MG? or just personal opinion?

The idea of Smith getting back this week un-nerves me. As much as his creativity is missed, I'd hate to see him back too soon. Take the extra week and be back at full speed in time for the last game of the season. Same with Nicholson

I hear you BB. I just feel that Langfield is a good keeper he is not a great keeper. He does an adequate job there. If there were a keeper out there that Aberdeen could sign given their financial structure who we would think "why isn't this guy in Red?" about, I would be the first to say he isn't top drawer and demand better but I cannot think of anyone to bring in.

Brewster brings a toughness that no other striker in our current squad has. Although he has lost a step in the stamina department (I don't like the idea of playing him a full 90) he can wear down defenders for 70 minutes then we can bring on a Miller who will get better chances to finish with fresh legs and stronger aerial attack. That said, If a 2 or 3 dimensional player (someone who brings more to the table) who won't cost us a mint is available, I'd agree to seeing Brewster in a Player/Coach role.

What role was Dan Smith being asked to play within the defense? I get the feeling that like our Strike force (4 1 dimensional players that fit well together) Smith might be a good cog in the Defense when say Ando, Hart and Considine are his partners but perhaps he isn't used to working with Byrne? Just a thought...

Then how can you not include Langfield's Goals Against average? Compared with Preece & Esson he's ahead on that and ahead on wins.

What is the rule on an Amateur Signing? Can he not just go anywhere?

I agree the'd both look great here. £££ will be the key. Would Rae be able to fit our strike chemistry though? Or would he bring more than 1 facet to the table?

With no Hart or Foster, our defense looks anemic after Anderson & Considine. Diamond is not the same player he has been. How can you fault Langfield?

May be OK to lose a little weight there (squad-wise). I feel our starting 11 are pretty capable; we obviously have some degree of depth. I think our bench isn't complete yet though.

Groin Strains are indicative of "being too cool to stretch out" properly an a day to day basis.

Hate to admit it but I get less and less interested in the make-up of the side with every passing game. Don't get me wrong, I'm as patriotic as they come, I love to see Scotland doing well, but I can't remember the last time I regarded Scotland FC as a genuine "international representative" team. It's the journo's pets picked by an SFA puppet. I had the option to watch the Italy game on TV or go with the U14 shinty team to a game and chose the latter as it actually meant more to me. Don't blame you. If it comes down to watching Scotland or Canada play OR going out with my daughter to either her game or to her dance competitions, my daughter wins every time.

Wish we had an Offensive & Defensive sub caption here gave my vote to Mackie for the goals but I agree that the Captain has been outstanding.

Be honest for a minute here. Rangers can be after them if they want and if £££ is his motivator, he'l be a great #3 for them. If Langfield has a brain in his head, and I believe he does, he'll stay here and be the #1 here when we go to europe. The guy is a good keeper. No he isn't Kjaer or maybe even a Gordon but with the deffense JC puts in front of him, he is more than adequate to do the job for Aberdeen.

Personally I am not worried about Ando playing for Scotland. As much as it is an honour to play for your country, I'd rather have him not risk injury and be healthy for us on Saturday.

Thing with Miller is that he either wins the aerial battle or creates a distraction. That's what his role is. Brewster gives the attacking aggression. Mackie is the speedy guy who when you think its too far seems to beet the ball to the line. Lovell is the shooter type. Unfortunately we don't have the £££ to bring in a complete package.
