  1. Speaking of which, Muriel Thomson's father was quite a character. Muriel was the first female club pro in the UK (and possibly further afield) and was Europe's no. 1 golfer once upon a time. It was Portlethen where she was the pro and one of triplets, was a unique egg. I liked her where she rubbed many up the wrong way. Her father used to run the NE Alliances and one day this tit came to the desk to sign in and introduced himself as Major so-and-so. "It's gowf we play here laddie, nae sudjers" ???
  2. Speaking of bakery products, I must say that the Lidl on Wellington Road has a splendid range. The wife is just back from there and because we don't have a Waitrose locally and the Fortnum & Mason online isn't immediate, we find we have to rub shoulders with the peasants and the common people from time to time, which is quite ghastly. We only eat bread at the weekends but we can see from the state of you fat cunts who walk the streets that you live on carbs. Get yourselves to Lidl for at least some preservative-free products. I'm sure you will find them rather spiffing and better for you than your processed shite. Your life expectancy may increase by 3 or 4 more years, to almost 50.
  3. Wilco Nienaber, 20 year old South African. Wait until you see this guy hit a Driver. He's just gone 3 under for his first 4 today at Celtic Manor but I have never seen anyone hit it so far in over half a century of watching golf. Last year at the Lytham Trophy I saw him hit Driver, 7 iron into the 7th. Those of you who know that hole on the greatest golf course in the world will appreciate how preposterous that is. And there was NO WIND! They were raving about him at the Brabazon two years ago at Frilford Heath but I never saw him that week. You will all have heard of him before he gets to 22 years of age * * apart from the mutants who aren't interested in golf but who must be heard and pretend to be expert in fields that they're not
  4. Trump's younger brother died. They've not said what he died from but if it was Covid, his critics will have a field day. There's a phrase the origin of which is unknown to me. Tam Cowan was going on yesterday about the origins of well-known phrases and the purple patch was one they were speculating on. A field day as opposed to being inside? Like going out into the community (and contracting a virus) rather than staying in lockdown? Fuck knows.
  5. Agreed. Midnight Express was harrowing. Saw it in the cinema over 40 years ago. Tam Forsyth, known as Jaws, kicked the bucket. He will always be remembered for the tackle on Mick Channon but he was one of the only Rangers players I liked. Hated him performing well against AFC but he was a quality footballer. Of the hard man no-nonsense breed that we don't get nowadays. The modern generations are too pussy and weak.
  6. Any time you play well is a great feeling and yes, the Darley is a great test. Not long but got to keep it straight. It is relentless in this regard. Great course. When we moved to Glasgow, I joined St Meddans because links golf is my preference and I don't like any of the parkland courses in the city. The high precipitation makes them particularly unappealing plus no chance of winter golf, at least competitively. Peter Weir was into his golf in those days (late 80's). Used to see him in the clubhouse quite a bit. Loved the Lochgreen. Longer and more open meant grip it and rip it. Good job they've done on the new clubhouse. Popped in a couple of years ago although I loved the old one. It was always great food, simple menu and cheap. Couldn't take advantage of the pints as was always driving to get there. Great shooting Al ??
  7. Connor 7 under today with 3 to go. Pieters just eagled 11 to go back into the lead. Get in there ??????
  8. In order to escape the cloud and the haar, we got on to the South Deeside Road and headed inland. Great decision. Had lunch at Potarch in the most perfect weather and I mean literally, the best conditions that the world has ever seen, let alone the UK, Scotland and the NE. Folk were swimming in the Dee and it looked magic. Nice drive by Finzean and Strachan etc., great views of Cairn O Mount and much as it's a beautiful part of the world, I couldn't live there. Too many English and English wannabes, a Tory stronghold full of plummy accents and total fuds. However I've never seen the water levels in the Feugh and the Dee so low: -
  9. The odd couple who go Greeeeeetings were talking about this, with that Professor Jason cunt who bores me to death. He's full of reassuring common sense for sure but the diligence he puts in to communicating articulately and the effort he puts in to the precision of his words-pronunciation is exhaustingly excruciating. He did make the point that the rules that the clubs have in place are good but it's the "individual responsibility" aspect that's being compromised. Or that's what I think he said. He was sending me towards sleep whilst driving.
  10. Remember when power steering and electric windows were new features? After you had it, you couldn't go back to a car that didn't have it. In the last 10 years, adaptive cruise control is a feature I couldn't live without, probably rear cameras too but the Pilot Assist function, which I didn't know I had for the first year I had my last car (same model as this one), I can live without. It's just a bit freaky for the car to be driving itself around every bend in the road, even on motorways. Fuck that shit. I very rarely use it. Will probably always stick with automatics now, much as my favourite car is manual and worth less than a grand. The luxury of taking a 10 year old Nissan Micra into toon and not giving a fuck in the car parks if anyone bashes their doors into it is wonderful.
  11. That seems like a plausible position Rico. I haven't read anything about it cos I don't really give a fuck but I was taken aback at the strength of Sturgeon's rhetoric. Fuck off bitch, I would've said to her but I thought it might have been futile for me to talk to my telly. It would not surprise me at all if the idiot classes who find themselves in politics and sports administration in this country would make up rules whilst forgetting about the sanctions.
  12. A show of disgusting snobbery. The man who handed over my new luxury estate was a lovely guy, and successful too by the look of his watch, shoes and clothes. My last five have been estates. Being 5' 3", it's important for me to get a big car and to present myself as a big man. Functionality isn't as important and form. A big car also says that I have a bigger cock. I've saved over five figures twice on my last two however as Mercedes are over-rated. The C Estate is tiny and the E Estate, whilst boosting my cock size was a bore to drive.
  13. Calum Hill a great Scottish prospect. Flying under the radar, he will be well known real soon.
  14. The motor trade is full of conmen and thieves. They only profit from the stupidity of the public. Even on finance, they profit from the buyer not even having basic arithmetic, nor the intellectual capacity to understand what they're signing up for. Fools and their money. It was ever thus.
  15. And please, with sugar on top, don't dare to come back on here to boast that you got a "cracking deal". Only the very stupid do this, for reasons known. People are pussy and for those of us without mortgages, the car is the biggest expense we have. When spending big, or mostly on finance, they're terrified that they paid too much and will swallow the sales patter readily and self-deceivingly.
  16. The stupid cunt gave Bayern the biggest tonic and motivation possible. 8 though. That's biblical ??
  17. But of course, it's probably a used car you're going for.
  18. So, unable to make up your mind, not knowing which cars are excellent, you will waste four figures just so you can touch and smell the product in advance? 25 years ago, every new car (retail, not fleet) was ordered through a dealership. In recent years, the proportion ordered through brokers instead has been increasing steadily. Ok, it's still well over 50% of you who don't but nobody is disputing that the majority of people are stupid. But wake the fuck up. See and drive it if you must but don't negotiate with them.
  19. This great man speaketh great truth. Poignant just now with Ghoulane in the clink and the Murdoch series on iPlayer.
  20. You can't be much of a detective. Nobody goes to a dealership to buy a new car. They did, 20 years ago when there was no choice. I got my new car last month and my wife's new car gets picked up on 1st September but the internet is a wonderful thing, determines the price that the dealership needs to give it to us for and saves lots of money. As the wolf says, get out of the sticks gentlemen. Play new vehicle brokers off one another, not dealerships. You're welcome.
  21. In the Brooks-less Wyndham, another excellent packed leaderboard this weekend. Sad to see Koepka apologising for his arrogance last week. There's a fine line beyond supreme self-confidence and after McIlroy called him out, he didn't have an option. Apologising is normally not sad of course but the hollowness of his words and his soul were laid bare. The golfing gods may strip him of any further chances now. He's not a good enough putter anyway.
  22. You don't understand. You're polluting a thread in which you have no interest. You're trying to save face, taking one word from a post during a conversation you weren't involved in to attempt to dispute a fact and being insulting whilst doing it. Even after you were slapped down, you come back for more. This is not a good use of time. This is behaviour revealing much about you and it's not anything other than tragic to witness. Speaking of wives, got any more jokes for us?
  23. Hagestad got beat at the last and looking at the scoring, in what wasn't a high-quality game. His opponent was 51st in the WAGR. Gupta however, who was down in the back 9 won 3 in 4 to win on the 18th. Brave kid. His opponent was ranked 43rd, 457 places higher. We could be seeing the emergence of a great young talent. Chuffed for him. Forgot they didn't do the quarters and the semi on the same day in the US Am so all getting decided this weekend. Ramsay and Fitzpatrick were the only Scottish and English winners for a century. None of our guys made the last 16.
  24. CNN showed a reporter asking Trump a question. Something like "Do you regret lying to the American people"? He asked the reporter to repeat the question, which he did verbatim. Trump then totally ignored him and moved on, stony-faced to the next question. Failing to respond to questions, even valid ones and hoping that they go away is more stark in the written word on forums such as these. It reveals the shallowness or absence of character.
  25. Trump's latest attack on Kamala is unsurprising but tragic at the same time. In a world where the US and the UK are managed by the mentally ill, it's not surprising that we have mentally ill among us. They voted them in after all. But once upon a time, this was Aberdeen. We used to stand for something. The pollution in society is being reflected in here too, by mad people obsessed with style and self image, not substance.
