Match day and feels like a big buzz around this one... I don't think I know anyone going who is looking forward to it and know people who are either not now going or gave or trying to give away their tickets. Might be a glorious European nights. Always think we are a better team when no expectation is on us. Still going along, just because I have my ticket and couldn't make the Noah game. Still not fussed about the score and just want no injuries. I reckon we'll have a strong line up for it and my hope of us playing a weakened line up won't happen. I read in the P&J that their manager, used to manage Shinnie at Derby and thinks very highly of him as both a player and a person. Nothing we didn't know, but nice to hear it anyway. COYR

Vyner played in the 2019-20 season. The year we had Greig Leigh too. He was a decent player, lacking a bit of experience and sure he got injured and returned to Bristol, about half way through the season. If I remember correctly, he scored a cracker of a goal for us. I think McCrorie has been linked to EPL clubs, so unlikely he would be back anytime soon. More likely he'd end up back with the zombie outfit.

I was thinking the site at the old Shell building on Wellington Road, could be a decent site for it. No idea if it is big enough I think Shell offerred it to the Council for development

Agreed. £1.5million is really big money for us. If we keeps on improving and becomes an integral part of the team between now and the cup win in May, then it might be worth parting with that sort of cash.

At least Cormack isn't politicising the debate, that's a relief. Using economists who advise the SNP and Westminster Governments will help. I mean, you'd trust the people advising them about as much as a Jimmy Saville creche service. Nobody is arguing that the stadium needs to stay in the city, fuck me the clue is in our name. It boils down to cost and who pays for what. We should be calling out Cormack for even suggesting moving OUR club outside the city boundaries. The club have had decades to build a new stadium, but lets politicise the debate now, after 15+ years of austerity politics, leaving the country without a pot to piss in. The elephant in the room for me, will always be having all that oil and gas a few miles off the coast of Aberdeen and hardly a thing to show for it. Not a fucking thing.

Excellent live. Their singer Gary Daly, is very funny and a good frontman. A group that never quite hit the heights they possibly deserved, but they have been building up a good live following, these past few years. I love their first two albums and Diary of a Hollow Horse.

Aye, those were the days.

You are so correct about seeing familiar faces at gigs in Aberdeen, Rico. There was a couple of old skool punks at the Skids on Saturday night, complete with Mohicans. You'll have seen them about town plenty over the years. The youngsters were going up and asking for selfies with them. I'm sure a Jam tribute act brought out the Weller clones, striving to keeping it real. Fair play to them, but some of the dodgiest barnets around, when you go to a Jam tribute, or even a Weller gig.

That's a fair old effort for a game you're not overly fussed about. Cap doffed.

Article about Strasbourg in the P&J. Went bust about the same time as Oldco and started again as an amateur team, in the French fourth division, keeping their 20k + attendances. Now owned by the same folk that own Chelsea, which their fans aren't best pleased about and do some protest thing at every home game. Difficult game for us, regardless of their form, but sounds like they have a few issues going on, which may help their cause.

I nearly got to the Berlin gig, work got in the way in the end. Would have been cheaper overall than Manchester, which is just mad. They played a gig in Vienna last year and we had a trip booked to Vienna, for the day after, just couldn't make it work. Thought it was never going to happen with them and then up popped their 2026 UK tour, with both Scottish dates, clashing with work. Bit the bullet and splashed out on Manchester. Not so much the tickets, but the hotel and flights were silly money. I miss out on the cup final though, when we go to defend our trophy.

Sounds good that, going to gigs with your daughters. No chance my sons would go to a gig with me. Too big a clash of tastes. I agree with you comments about six music. We might be old, but our coin will be more than welcome, as nigh on impossible for bands to make a living from music now. A lot of youngsters don't want to pay for music and record companies would rather sell the records of their legacy acts than support new bands or singers. If I'm at a gig of a new band or a new band is supporting an established act, I always try and buy some of their merchandise to help them out.

Just back from the Squeeze and Madness gig. Squeeze were so, so good. You'd have to be a very confident band to let a group like Squeeze open for you then have to follow them. No problem for Madness, they have the playing live lark down to an artform. Got a lot of the more unknown hits from their extensive catalogue, which was music to my ears. Tonight was my penultimate gig of the year. I have an ABBA tribute gig at the music hall in two weeks, to finish of the year. I love ABBA. Next year I finally getting to see my all time favourites Kraftwerk down in Manchester. They played the Capitol, Aberdeen , back in 1991 and Karl Bartos was still with them. None of my pals fancied it, as they were quite as reverred as they are now, so didn't bother going. We'll see them next time they are up I said! Better late than never, even though they have become their own tribute band. I'd also like to catch Sparks live too and with Ron in his 80s and Russell not far off, I'd better try and get something sorted.

Wow. As much as i think McGregor is a greeting faced shyte, he's a decent, experienced player who I don't think needs shown a tactics board. Doesn't bode well for the future of their new guy.
-
That is actually a very good point. Maybe Jimmy has someone in his corner now, taking the pressure off and allowing him to get on with winning games.

They are so entitled and yet they can't see it The new manager might well be shit for then, but he has to be given some time to get to speed. I said to my loon the other night, I have a feeling O'Neil might be back to them this season.

Was watching Sportscene last night and that Josh Mulligan at Hibs, would have been a great signing for us in the summer from Dundee. Covers a lot of ground and gets about the pitch getting involved. Always rated him at Dundee, and the Dundee boys at work did always tell me he was the better player than Cameron. Watson at Killie has also looked good, but haven't seen him enough to tell if he would fit in with our style.

In for this one, but my hearts not in it. You feel obliged to go when you purchase the three match ticket. Hadn't really heard of this team before and know little about them. In South Stand Work Home Nae fussed on the score, just hope no injuries picked up ahead of the Killie game, which for me anyway, is far more important.

There is loads of music being released. Probably more than ever. I listen and buy plenty of it and go to gigs of new bands breaking through. I was at the Lambrini Girls gig in Aberdeen last month, a young duo, who are building up quite a following, but still the majority of people at the gig were older and I expected to feel very old at it, but didn't. I believe the largest age group attending the Oasis gigs this year were the 18-30 year olds. That's the only point I am making is that youngsters seem pretty infatuated with music of years gone by and if you go into record shops now, you will find a fair few youngsters going through the vinyl and cd sections and it's great to see.
-
No, I have a decent grasp of new music and the youngsters aren't overly interested in it, like they once would have been. My youngest listens to loads of old stuff, says modern stuff aimed at his age group is mainly pish. His words, not mine. It's music, but not as we knew it. Possibly a lot of it is down to the streaming age and everything being on tap. They'll never know the joy of taping music off the radio, which was once deemed to be the ruination of the music industry.

Has anyone watched tonights Sportscene? Was theres there any reason given as to why a photo of Norm from Cheers (the American TV show, nae the gay bar in Aberdeen), underneath their table holding the league trophy? Very random.

Just back home from The Skids gig. My kind of gig, finished at 9:45. Us rock n rollers. An excellent gig. Richard Jobson came across very well as a front man and gave a little history about the songs played and took the piss out of himself. The band were excellent too. No idea if the bassist was the original one, looked about the right age. Their young guitarist was very good. Stuart Adamson, as a guitarist left big shoes to fill, but the lad filled them well. Amazing how much young folk go to these gigs of bands from yesteryear. I suppose kids don't really have much music scenes to get into now. It's all very safe and sanitised for. the most part. I was too young for The Skids first time around, bar the ones in my pants, but got into all that late 70s early 80s music by having considerably older brothers and sisters who were well into music of all sorts. With Aberdeen winning too, it's been a good day.
