I had a silly thought during the Jute game ... during our wasteful dominance in the first half ... (not unusual for me to have silly thoughts ... but ... ) ... 'If we could bring on Shady Mo for 'Kesko', and Duncan Shearer for 'Nisbo' ... we'd hae the game won afore half time

I was very excited by Karlsson's early performances ... no doubt a talented footballer, but his obvious skills don't produce enough in team play. Kjartansen produced more in terms of creative effectiveness with one pass v Celtic than Karlsson has produced with all his time on the ball in the last 2,3, 4 .... games. Seriously ... don't laugh ... but I think losing Karlsson and giving Keskinen more game time on the left would be an improvement ... although, we surely have 'other' options.

Yep ... that's what I see as well .. and what I was referring to n a post some time ago re. clever/creative/flair players being ineffective ... whilst guys who quietly do the basics ... from the Jute game, Milne, Knoester, are actually the 'creators' in that they are effective in connecting the team and initiating forward moves. (Polvara and Armstrong would usually be in this category, but both were disappointing v Jute ) Karlsson is obviously a very skilled footballer, but lately reminds me of Duk ... re, the insistence on keeping the ball, bamboozling a few defenders, then losing out when at any point during his possession, he could easily have found a pass to a teammate. ... such a waste. Another thing which puzzled me was ... why don't we take a pop from range more often? Yeah, OK, I know, ex Abmadders will be aware I slated Lewis Ferguson many a time for his 20 yarders clearing the crossbar by about the same margin ... but, fuck ... just hit it! .. any outcome is favourable compared to losing the ball to a team set up to hit on the break ... just hit it! ... anything can happen ... as evidenced by Aouchiche's shot which their keeper failed to hold ... rebound pounced on by Karlsson. Also, on a couple of occasions we did 'just hit it', we won a corner .... which is preferable to an intercepted slack pass and having to race back and defend as their out-ball resulted in them racing toward our goal 2 on 2! Still, if we could transition forward faster, with fewer ACCURATE passes .... everything I've written above ( and much of what others have put time and effort into writing) would be unnecessary. Anyway ... my pants remain dry, I still have faith three's the guts of a good team/squad there - happy days will be here again ... but if nae ... dinna blame me

Stayin' wi' the cheapest sweeties of auld, like maist sweetie shops, the shop across the road fae Kittybrewster Primary School had an array o' big jars on a high up shelf ... the cheapest per quarter was the cinnamon balls .... which Ah loved. Even better, ye didna hae tae buy a full quarter pun ... ye could ask for 2 ounces ... which was plenty for a wee laddie ... an' cost aboot 2 an' a half pence

As a bairn ma fave cheap sweeties ( as in 2, 3 for 1p) were prob Lemfizz, Bazooka Joes, Fruit Salads, Mojos. Ah liked sports mix ... especially cos they were 5 for a penny, but Ah hated the black anes. Many a time Ah would ask "5p o' sports .. nae blacks". .... an' aboot half the time the wifie (it wis nearly ayewis a wifie) would look at ma wi an expression which read "Are you haein a fuckin fun??" and would stick the scoop intae the sports mix indiscriminately an' coont oot the sweeties intae the bag .... blacks 'unfiltered'. Actually, Ah think there wis usually a disproportionate number o' black anes - oot o' spite, in reaction tae fit Ah thought wis a reasonable request. Still, like a bampot, Ah'd hand ower ma 5p. Anither firm fave wis 'Crispets' ... ye can still get them, but they cost a fkn fortune ... same goes wi Chelsea Whoppers
