I was lucky enough to see Jim Bett throughout his Aberdeen career and he is, in my opinion, the best Aberdeen midfielder I have seen in the flesh. Without a doubt he was the best passer of the ball. Hignett is more of a disappointment. I remember the Dundee and Celtic games and whilst he did play well I wouldn't put his perfomances in the genius category. The fact that he bailed out so quickly leaves me with an overall feeling of disappointment.

Fit like Reekie? It's all about personal opinion and all that...but I am interested to know why you would pick Hignett who had a couple of good games for us over a player like Jim Bett who had seasons of producing top drawer performances? Likewise, Bisconti was a very good ball winner, enforcer etc. but he didn't have the talent to win a game like Bett could. Not having a go, just interested in your reasoning.

Fun and games in the Egypt Algeria ACN semi. Two soft bookings, the second for a debatable foul to give Egypt a penalty, see Algerian centre half sent off. Resulting penatly the Egypt player seemed to take a pause in the run up before slotting it away. Algeria keeper deems this illegal and chases the ref up the park before putting his head toward the ref's head and he only gets a booking. You cannae beat a good derby. The fitba is pish mind.

Rocket min, I think there are loads of mitigating factors that also have to be taken in to consideration. Finance and geography will be factors on whether players like McLean fancy a move to Aberdeen. I assume the margins are very tight these days so that every penny will count. We are in a shitty position where we run such a tight ship that we cannot afford to take risks by handing out the length of contract that players like McLean want. It now appears that one of the skills that Aberdeen managers need these days is to be a magician in the transfer market. I think the club are a victim of circumstance (no redistribution of wealth in Scottish fitba, the English Championship can easily outspend us) and no one individual is to blame for the situation we are in.
