Happy New Year to you all! Curious to know how 2022 can out do 2020 and 2021. From Covid to American politics (not quite sure how that thread can be so quiet!), itās certainly been a fucked up couple of years over here!! As for the dons, hoping the January window brings some excitement. Not too worried about losing Ferguson or hedges, even Ramsey, as it will bring in money. Hope we spend it wisely!!! However, of the three, Iād hope Ramsey stays another year or two as Ferguson has done, we shall see. Wish me luck for 2022, relocating my family 2500 miles in June, from LA back to Orlando. Driving a 3 year old and a 6 year old, plus two dogs, not quite sure how I survive that!

January transfer window and the squad as it stands
OrlandoDon replied to baggy89's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I actually donāt think we have a bad squad, but itās key players we need to add, not squad fillers. we have a good keeper, and very strong young left and right back. Bates, Gallagher, and mccrorie, plus considine and I think weāre solid in the middle. If Ramsey goes we need a new right back. brown and Campbell are solid in central mid, plus if bates and Gallagher are fit Iād like to see mccrorie in central midfield. Iām assuming Ferguson is gone and Iām happy with those 3 filling the two central mid spots. the three keys players we need are two wingers and a number 10. Hedges is away Iām assuming. Jet is a good back up for one of the spots, but heās not your regular starter to rely on. up front I do like Ramirez but he needs the service. We do need to sign a back up when Ramirez needs rested, injured, or playing gash. I think itās a definite 4 we need, 5 if Ramsey goes. Interested to see what January brings. -
When glass came in ojo worked his arse off and we saw the results. Much like Jon Gallagher did when he came to the club. But effort can only take you so far, talent is needed at this level.

New phone and my name from roughly 15 years agoā¦ā¦but moving back to Orlando in the summer so no real need to change. have a good day everyone!

Iāve replied twice and then delete it because I donāt want to get involved in this type of argument. It drives me crazy hearing people blame the anti vaxxers. I hear that regularly from joe Biden and heās doing his best to ruin the US, including pulling people apart when we should be bringing people together. I also donāt know what itās like in the UK but itās so political over here, itās disgusting. The majority of people I hear in the news getting the newest strain are vaccinated. But I donāt watch the news much now because itās not really news any more, itās agenda. We donāt get full transparency, but what do I know. Itās such a complex issue, and Iāll even throw out the objectives of government when you hear Pfizer has earned $33 billion to date from Covid, and they help finance government. Big pharma benefits from Covid, and thereās a reason you arenāt hearing much of alternative treatments. Anyone who speakers out against vaccines is a conspiracy theorist, anti vaxxer etc when all we want if full and clear information. The vaccine also damages and kills people but thatās getting shut down instead of acknowledged and studied. Why? Covid isnāt going away, everyone isnāt getting vaccinated, and everyone can spread. We need to learn to live with it without turning on each other. If you believe vaccinations keep you healthy get them, if you donāt donāt. I donāt believe in mandates, segregation, and lockdowns but some do. They donāt help culture and societies. Sad times. I have got involved in the obesity argument too. Covid thrives on fat cells. Why arenāt we educating people on how to be healthier? That doesnāt benefit government and big pharma. Just saying. Iām also as much concerned about the mental health issue, substance abuse, suicides etc, all are through the roof. Mandates, forcing the vaccines, and blaming each other are simply dividing people are making all of those situations worse.

I think thereās a difference between food preservatives and injecting a new type of and relatively unknown vaccine/medical procedure (with no history) into your blood. Itās irreversible. There have been very documented and publicized results of Covid but thereās also a ton of Covid vaccine damaged people out there. I understand the hesitancy, hence I donāt support mandating this vaccine. much like with all other medical procedures and drugs, the side effects should be very clearly stated for people to choose. Thereās not enough known yet about the vaccine to state the side effects. Even now you see the J&J vaccine is not being recommended because of side effects when millions already have taken it because they were told it was safe. im not anti vax but feel I understand both sides. Wife works with a number of doctors who are treating Covid vaccine damaged patients. Itās scary

Ooft, I didnāt catch that. 4 is 10 days is a killer, especially at the end of a long season when many of our players also had limited time off with the euros last summer and limited rest there too. I suppose itās 4 in 10 for all teams in the group though? Will certainly stretch a squad and having the republic and Armenia as games 3 and 4 is better than seeing Ukraine depleted and tired.

January transfer window and the squad as it stands

Heard this before obviously, but not seen him enough to know what heās like as a player? Any good? Creative?? The #10 we crave?? Would love us to offer cash plus the likes of kennedy, the size of the squad canāt help us, one in one out isnāt a bad thing right now. -
How financially sound are they? COVID fucked every club, Iād think theyād take the money. While theyāll battle relegation, the money would allow them to bring in more than one player, plus a loan or two, even from us. Cash and Kennedy perhaps?

Well, 3 wins in a row and weāre a point off fourth with a better goal difference, plus 6 off hearts in third with plenty of games to play. Weāve been far from convincing and many have doubts, including me, when third is clearly very achievable. Worse is certainly achievable too. I do feel a decent January window is most certainly needed. With terrible injuries the picture doesnāt seem that bad now, especially if we were to do well in the Scottish cup. But shipping a few out and bringing in a couple of quality players is huge. Could still see hedges and Ferguson leaving this window though so we could see a bit of January change. -
Wouldnāt mind seeing mcinnes at hibs. I think itās understated about how much financial support Aberdeen gave him, both in transfers and in wages. Not sure if heād bring them any success with the greater limit in money, but Iād be happy to have him there.

I donāt see that in mclennan. I see a modern day Darren Mackie. Plenty of pace and the odd good thing, but more often than not itās miscontrol and mistake/poor decision. Half the time mclennan beats himself. I havenāt seen a change in him since heās broken in to the first team, think heās worth cutting loose. -
Jet is a luxury item. He certainly draws attention and creates space for others. Did some nice stuff from what I saw but certainly can be frustrating too. As I said during the week, if we have workers alongside that compensate for him weāre fine, but heās not the most active off the ball. If weāre in a relegation scrap I donāt think we can afford to play him. Today, like livi, heās fine.
-
4-1. Didnāt see the second half but sounds like it could have been even more convincing? Given the season we cannot complain about anything. Good confidence building week.
-
2 up after 9 mins. Who is this team in red and what have they done with our beloved dons???
-
Jet is not a bad player. Heās skilled and creative. But heās not the brightest and not hard working. With the right players around him he can produce. But if we expect the work rate of Marley Watkins and the brain of (insert smart player here) thatās not happening. If weāre a bottom 6 team fighting for survival heās not in my 11. Luxury we canāt afford there. from what I saw tonight, we were solid and livi were gash. Once they went down to 10 there was only one winner. I also thought we were sloppy and a sharp/confident on form Aberdeen wins by 4 or 5 tonight. Good game for jet to look good.
-
Didnāt see much of the game but from what I saw it was very similar to a mcinnes old firm game. Painful to watch us be so dominated then struggle to keep the ball unless we went sideways and backwards. Hart had one good save, did we have a shot on goal in the second half, especially when we went behind? Yes it was 2-1 and Lewis didnāt have many saves to make, but not a fun watch by any means. Didnāt see us getting anything from the game at any point. Iāve yet to criticize glass but, jack gurr? Glass talked highly of him, said fans would like him, and that he wasnāt signing squad fillers. Guy is not close to what I expect Aberdeen standard. Did glass underestimate the level of this league??

Wales are still a solid team, not doubting that, plus we have to travel and it will be some atmosphere. Fair to say their best two players are still Ramsey and Bale who both have a fair chance of getting injured and missing the game???
-
Other than a home final Iād say thatās more or less the best we could have hoped for. If we win the semi, away to wales or Austria isnāt so scary. Saying this, iām sure all 4 countries are happy with this grouping! and yes, italy or Portugal wonāt make the World Cup.
-
I tend to agree, plus with a solid defense I feel you get the luck and the breaks. When you are piss at the back you get punished for all your mistakes. Right now our weaknesses are exposed and many claim we are āunlucky.ā Tighten up at the back and I bet our luck changes.
-
Iād say our biggest problem is the lack of flair and creativity in the side. We have enough possession in pretty much every game yet donāt nearly create enough. With the amount of the ball we have we donāt create chances. we pretty much have two creative players in hedges (who, as mentioned in other posts, has his downside) and Ramsey and thatās more or less it. Iād add jet but heās a passenger in most games he plays and is certainly not the brightest or hard working. We need two wingers and a creative attacking mid. (Hayes, mcginn, and Christie from a few years back and weād be blasting our way through the league!) I rate Ramirez and if he was playing with those three from a few years back heād be banging them in every game! As has been mentioned by many over the weeks, we have such an imbalanced squad and are so predictable. Easy to stop us and, as you mention, weāve had the defensive injuries and donāt have a secure and comfortable defensive unit.

Got a hunch it will be Ukraine. Although I certainly wouldnāt mind Austria again, or Poland.
