Images of the planned new look for the site of the former Aberdeen City Council headquarters have been unveiled.

Muse Developments was chosen to deliver the new £107m shape of the St Nicholas House area.

Demolition work is ongoing, and the aim is for the scheme - including pedestrianisation of part of Broad Street - to be completed in 2017.

The plans are being lodged later this month.

The vision includes offices with 250 car spaces, civic spaces, a 125-bed four-star hotel, and restaurants.

Whatever your views on the Marischal Square proposals, I would encourage the Aberdeen public to make them known”

    Marie Boulton Deputy council leader

The full Marischal Square plans and images can be seen at Aberdeen Art Gallery on Friday and Saturday, then in the reception area of Marischal College from Monday until 17 April.

Muse's regional director for Scotland, Steve Turner, said: "The Marischal Square proposal fulfils the vision of the city's Bon Accord master plan by providing a new civic square, creating a fitting setting for Marischal College, as well as delivering a vibrant new mixed-use development in keeping with Aberdeen's justifiable position as one of the UK's leading business destinations.

"Marischal Square has the potential to make a long-term impact on the local economy and it is vital the city has the right mix of office and commercial space to capitalise on the opportunities that will arise.

"We will be replacing the former St Nicholas House building with new office and commercial buildings that will respect the city's granite history and be no more than seven storeys high, and that again is something the public were keen to see reflected in Marischal Square."

  3. Poor performances from several players and lapses on concentration. Pawlett didnt look fit and did an horrendously embarrassing dive. Highlight of the night was Robson running at full pelt to have a shite.

Police afterwards were ridiculous, barriers, police horses going into people waiting for the barrier to open & police vans blocking the road....

  4.

  5. Bobby Madden and William Collum have been appointed as referees to this season’s William Hill Scottish Cup semi-finals.

SPECIAL trains will be put on for Dons fans travelling to Glasgow for the Scottish Cup semi-final next month.

Aberdeen FC take on St Johnstone in the showdown at Ibrox on April 13.

And with the game kicking off at an early time of 12.45pm, ScotRail have announced they will provide two additional services for fans to get to the game.

The first train leaves Aberdeen at 8.35am and will arrive at Glasgow Queen Street at 11.10am.

The return journey will leave Glasgow at 4.45pm and arrive back in Aberdeen at 7.14pm.

A second train will be arranged if there are sufficient numbers and will depart Aberdeen at 8.58am, arriving in Glasgow Queen Street at 11.34am.

The return journey to Aberdeen departs at 5.12pm, arriving at 7.44pm.

A £50 adult return ticket will apply and is valid only on these special services. And a family return ticket of one adult and one child is £65.

Tickets are available only from ScotRail staff at the ScotRail Travel Centre at Aberdeen Station.

Tickets for children are £15 and each child must be accompanied by an adult.

Aberdeen FC received an initial ticket allocation of 20,000 for the match.

  7. Nipped out to the supermarket at FT yesterday, some really cuntish Jambos about. Firstly intimidating a hibs grandfather and about a 5y/o grandson screaming abuse in their faces as they waited for a bus, I honestly though the grandfather was going to get attacked. In the supermarket one drunken neep was knocking over displays shouting 5-1 and then three young guys dancing and loudy talking through how they had punched a hibs fan and ran away. Fucking hate them!

  8. Rangers has reported losses of £3.5m in the six months to 31 December 2013 - down from £7.2m for the seven month period to the end of the previous year.

Interim accounts published on Thursday show cash reserves of £3.5m, down from £21.2m the previous year.

About £1.7m of that £3.5m relates to money that is "not immediately available as working capital".

Auditors Deloitte warned the club's ability to keep trading could be hit by fans withholding season ticket funds.

Well done, losing £580,000 a month is better than £1m a month......  ::)
