  1. I saw that on your FB feed

Real head in the sand stuff. The French prosecutors office say possibly 45,000E fine and 5 years in the jail if he find them.

  2. BACK in the days when mortgage payments were problems only the adults in the family had to contend with and season tickets were affordable, I received a letter from Celtic.

It was a small leaflet welcoming me, as an Aberdeen fan, to Celtic Park for the coming season.

This was no mistake, they had not sent the letter in error.

Within the leaflet the late Tommy Burns explained that he felt the atmosphere at Celtic games was always enhanced when there was a strong away support, and that he hoped other supporters would come and back their team in Glasgow from the away end.

This was sent to all opposition season ticket holders. I thought it was a brilliant piece of marketing, and I happily took Mr Burns up on his offer to watch the Dons lose both away games against his side that season.

In those days Celtic were challenging Rangers, they were building a new stadium and getting themselves back on their feet. Celtic fans more than any should appreciate the increased demand for tickets when your club starts to taste success again.

Earlier this season, Aberdeen raised eyebrows when they cut Celtic's ticket allocation for Pittodrie, going from 3800 to 2000.

It was a perfectly justifiable move.

For years, with the team saving the worst of their mediocrity for games against Celtic, you couldn't give the tickets away and therefore it made perfect sense to give the visiting support a vast chunk of tickets.

However, when demand increases from your own fans, of course you are going to try and sell as many as you can to them first, which Aberdeen did this season.

It takes an astonishing level of arrogance to suggest no longer being handed 20% of the available tickets is somehow a slight to your club and your support, and that Celtic should be entitled to tickets for an Aberdeen home game ahead of the club's own fans.

To reason that view with claims of glory-hunting, and questioning where these Aberdeen fans have been for years, is laughable when Celtic have won 20 major trophies between Aberdeen's last two League Cup wins.

The Bhoys aren't selling out games at the moment due to boredom at winning the league, yet expect Aberdeen fans to flock to the stadium to fill it when they're finishing 8th three years in a row.

Shock horror, more fans are enticed to the ground now that the standard is improving and the team is worth watching. This phenomenon is not unique to the North-East of Scotland.

Many would look at Aberdeen's crowds over the years and actually feel the numbers they have taken all over the country was more deserving than successive teams of the past were due, and in fact the Red Army have shown a level of loyalty unmatched by most.

Now, with Aberdeen heading to Celtic Park on March 1 for a rare top of the table clash, the likelihood of a letter arriving from Ronny Deila and Peter Lawwell encouraging Aberdeen fans to the game is nil to none.

Going by recent Celtic home games, there could be as many as 20,000 empty seats at what is the biggest league fixture of the season for both clubs.

  6. Do you happen to know why the rest of the players have missed out on parts of the season?

A graph for each player showing the time spent out for each reason would be helpful in illustrating this.

    Thanks

I could do it but I dont think your little head could comprehend it.

  7. My last memory was at Easter Road and he won a corner and somebody like Cato Gunveit picked up the ball to take it. He wasn’t happy and ran across to take it himself, we all were up giving it the big ZERO, ZERO, ZERO chants and doing the bowing action. After the skill to win the corner he kicks it straight out at the 18 yard box and we groan and sit down, the Hibs fans in the old East stand to a man are up on their feet now giving the big ZERO, ZERO, ZERO chants and doing the bowing action as he runs back down the line. Sums him up great skill but lack of concentration at times.

AS recent years have shown, the fixture between Heart of Midlothian and Celtic at Tynecastle Stadium has become a difficult one. This follows various incidents, including an attack on the Celtic manager and continued sectarian abuse directed at Celtic management, staff and players.

Celtic representatives met with Ann Budge and her Executive team yesterday and were made aware of particular issues which arose at the match on Sunday.

In addition to these issues, missiles were thrown into the Celtic support, a Celtic supporter sustained injuries at the match after being hit with coins, and sectarian abuse was again directed at Celtic staff and players. We are also aware of a home supporter again attempting to enter the field of play at Tynecastle, this time to approach one of our players.

We are addressing these matters with Heart of Midlothian and welcome the desire of Ann Budge to seek a positive and enjoyable matchday experience for all football supporters at Tynecastle. We look forward to working with her to achieve this.

Celtic supporters have a long and proud record of positive support for the Club. Our fans have developed an excellent reputation and this is something we cherish and wish to preserve.

It is very important to note that the vast majority of Celtic supporters and Scottish football supporters behave impeccably at matches. With regards to the reported incidents at the match on Sunday, we would like to re-iterate that any form of offensive or inappropriate behaviour is contrary to our core values and the Club will deal with those responsible in the appropriate manner.

We share the concerns expressed by Ann Budge and her aim to eradicate all forms of offensive behaviour from Scottish football. We can assure Heart of Midlothian that we will be pleased to continue to co-operate with them fully to ensure that all issues from this match concerning both sets of supporters are addressed.

  9. Think by next week it will be in all newpaper selling places. Some Supermarkets had it from day 1, other made a tit of it and said no room in store (Morrisons) and people just tweeted them their displays with 5 bins for the Sun, Record and Daily Express and a host of individual bins for 20 odd papers.

WORK on the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route is set to be completed ahead of schedule.

The AWPR was due for completion in spring 2018, however, the Scottish Government today revealed that the project will now be finished in winter 2017.

Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure, Investment and Cities, Keith Brown, made the announcement in Aberdeen today.

Mr Brown also revealed that Connect Roads has been awarded the main construction contract for the AWPR/Balmedie-Tipperty (B-T) work.

Mr Brown said: “Since overcoming all the legal challenges back in October 2012, we have done all we can to accelerate the procurement and construction of the AWPR/B-T.

“Following the shortest procurement processes for a contract of this size and complexity – it has been just 23 months since the contract was put to the market – we have now been able to also bring the completion date forward to winter 2017.”

Leader of Aberdeen City Council Jenny Laing said: “I am sure the people in the North-east will be delighted to learn that this hugely significant project is progressing and that we are another step closer to the delivery of the much-needed AWPR.”

Leader of Aberdeenshire Council Jim Gifford added: “It is very satisfying to reach this stage of the tender process.”
