Can I pick your brains min?

 

I'm having trouble with my boiler here in Budapest.

I know it's not a very good one, we had an entire central heating system put in (7 radiators in large rooms) for less than our optician at the time paid for her boiler.

It's a Saunier Duval therma classic F25e

 

I've always thought it was possibly not powerful enough to heat the whole flat but I'd rather not replace it right now.

 

Of course we are not here all of the time but it's pretty important that I can rely on it to keep the flat at a certain temperature during the winter.

 

When it was newly installed we were advised to keep the pressure at 1.8 bar and set the temperature at 56c for the hot water and 50 for the heating.

I had a major service done in January ( long story but loads of dust and bits of plaster everywhere including in the boiler)

 

Anyway the temperature control is all to fuck and when I arrived here yesterday the boiler had turned itself off and the red light was on. I put in some water and it worked but Ive been topping up and bleeding water continually.

Doesn't upset me one little bit,. Couldn't give a flying monkey's fuck.

Boiler doctor was round this morning, fixed things so they

are a lot better but a new part is needed so they will have

to order that and come back to fit it.

A new " air chamber" apparently.

 

How much will it be altogether?

Aye, aye, ok good news about the boiler but what about my bloody Ford Fiesta extended warranty?

Its his bloody boiler that gets me green with envy ( a boiler with repair costs we can only dream about)

I've heard of Rhino oil boilers but it's not a name well known in the north east .

Buc, if I have a radiator (oil-based system) that keeps needing bled (aye, like every week), what's the deal with that shite? Do I just need a new radiator, or do I need the entire system drained or some shite? If it's just a new radiator, and given it's nae gas, can I just replace myself or is that illegal? Cheers in advance sir.

Buc it just says "Rhin Oil Boilers" on the front, nae make/model or owt.

Maybe you have a leek somewhere in the heating system that's why you need keep airing it.

 

Could be a radiator valve you can check them when the heating has been off and the radiators are cold as joints expand when hot and contract when cold it's worth checking every radiator valve with a toilet tissue .

Never air a radiator when the system is on air it when it's off then wait 5 mins before switching back on.

 

If it's a pressurised system you will need to top it up between 1 bar and 1 1/2 bar.

You will need to pressurise at the boiler . As I say check all valves even around the boiler look for damp patches around the valves on the floor or carpet when it's cool .
