Then once the speed wears off it's time to mellow out a bit with this good ol' boy. It isn't Sunday but I'm in the mood to play it anyway.

 

 

 

Was still young enough to bounce around on the dancefloor when it first came out. Arthritic knees mean that's less likely to happen now but I can still tap my fingers on the bar and nod my head along to the beat.

What a song.

I can’t not post a new Trashcan Sinatras single. A wee bit overproduced for my taste, but will be good live when they tour.

In Glasgow tonight for a Rick Astley  concert. A Xmas present for the Wife.

Not my thing musically, but put on a good show and he can certainly sing.

Gabrielle, who had a few hits in the 90s, was the support and wasn't to keen on her.

At the gig there was an ex fitba player from the 80s/90s, but for the life of me I couldn't recall the name, but was sure it was an ex hun and then it came to me. Ex hun, diet hun and Dundee hun, Cammy Fraser.

I don't think I would know any current SPL players if I was sitting next to them, bar about a handful of Dons.

I take it, it was just Rick singing never gonna give you up for two hours then............or does he have anything else in his illustrious repertoire? 😉

He admitted himself that he keeps his best until last, as everyone would fuck off if he played it early. His actual words. 

He has apparently had a couple of number one albums in the past few years, but I only knew his 80s stuff and they sounded decent with his 9 piece band.

Not my cup of tea at all musically, but as I said, he was decent enough and he can hold a tune and has assembled a decent band.

I've been to much worse gigs of bands I do actually like.

I was at Knebworth in 86 when Belouis Some opened with "Imagination" and closed with "Imagination". In between he was just dodging bottles thrown by all the Quo fans up the front. They then made a point of leaving before Queen came on, denying themselves the chance to see Freddie Mercury's last ever live performance.

I think I also saw Chumbawumba open and close once with "Tubthumping". Might be doing them a disservice, but who cares as they're gash.

Motörhead once played a gig at the Barras and opened with the Ace of Spades. Half the crowd fucked off straight after

Years since I listened to this album.

Still sounds superb, all these years on

John Otway always announces he is performing both sides of his only 'hit' single first so those who 'need' to leave early hear it ... because that is the only reason they came along

Getting weirdly into Angine de Poitrine at the moment. Can’t tell whether I like the sound or the vibe or just the sheer avant garde balls out madness of it. 

Went to see Tame Impala at Hydro last night. Cracking show. Saw them 15years ago at a small venue in Edinburgh when they were just a guitar based indie band. They’ve come a long way to a packed Hydro last night. 

Debut single from a new Irish band from Limerick. Got a shoe-gazing feel to it, for those of us who were around in the 90s.

 

Michael Stipe doing the theme tune from Rooster, which is brilliantly written comedy. 2 birds with one stone…
