DT Politics Thread

Seems ConDems have crashed down south as expected with Labour making pretty big gains.

Be interesting to see how things pan out in Scotland but presumably given it is STV there won't be any councils where a party has overall control.  Apparently heading for the lowest turnout in years up here but then you'd hardly know there was an election on where I stay.  No posters or billboards and I only got one leaflet through my door which was Tory, which is bizarre given in my ward I'd imagine they'd do well to get even 4th on 1st preference never mind get anywhere near a seat.

Don't suppose it means much so far away from a GE but already had Tory MPs demanding Callmedave is more right wing after UKIP success in the south and comedy figure Lebit Opik demanding Nick Clegg resigns as leader of the Lib Dems (but seemingly stay on as Deputy PM).

Also glad to see that so far nobody has voted in favour of Mayors in various English cities. Total waste of time and money and nothing more than a celebrity driven ego trip (see B. Johnston and K. Livingston)

I Would go along with that.

The yanks are very precious about their flags. Remember when Sinead O'connor burnt one on stage many years ago?

Still wouldn't change anything sadly.

Keith is only thinking on how to keep the 'special  relationship', special.

America can take Greenland tomorrow and fuck all the UK or the UK can do about it.

They could sell off the bonds, along with other countries, to China preferably, but I doubt it would happen.

We are too wedded to America and that has come at a price, which we are now seeing.

There is little Starmer can do in this battle.

I am sure talks are happening behind the scenes and hopefully Trump pulls back from taking Greenland, but I can't see it.

He is too far into this now to back down.

I’d imagine they’ll have a quiet word at the Davos works jolly.
He’ll back pedal from it, he just needs a way to do it without losing face with the crayon munchers that vote for him

Macron threatening the anti coercion instrument.

Showing some cajónes perhaps it's a response to all the cheese eating surrender monkey jibes?

But they don't have to sell off the bonds they only have to threaten to do so. Play poker with Trump and there's every chance he would shout 'snap!'

But we are dealing with a deranged person, who has surrounded himself with even more deranged people.

I think he and his cabal of cunts have passed the point of no return now.

I hope the EU find some balls to deal with it, as I wouldn't be expecting anything from the UK.

That is true but I reckon make Wall St and the $ wobble (OK the world catches a cold) and he's gone. Sure it's a risk but if Europe is smart about this they can possibly set themselves up as the leading economic power. The UK  could .... oh wait.

I see Macron has got a black eye, did his "wife" hit him again?

Probably not, but thanks for the edgy take.

It's good to know what the tabloid-fodder are believing.

How is it edgy, dId you not see his wife hitting him on a plane last year?

You don’t think putting wife in inverted commas was edgy?

It’s nice to know that Reform are even worse at politics than Labour & the Tories

They’re basically the party that lost the last election in a landslide. Good work Nigel 😆

All these Tories signing for Reform just want to get back into power by any means necessary.

Poor Nigel

starting to realise he is now the leader of the party that failed previously- wonder if he will use the same anti-immigration messages to stop defecting tories before they bring him down🤣

Can actually see the Liberals and the greens doing well by default

I'm ok as long as they are signing for reform and not The Dons

Who would have thought, that when they agreed to release the Epstein files, the first political casualty could be Starmer.

Definitely not him, which just makes it’s funnier 🤣

Just to double the laughs, the wee scrote most likely to benefit from Starmer going would be Streeting, but he’s fucked himself over too. As has Sarwar up here. Great stuff, they all thoroughly deserve it. Perhaps we may see some blue forensic tents appear in some gardens, or is that a bit over the top?

I reckon another 'Ferry Fiasco' headline must be incoming soon, with Holyrood elections due in May.

It’s the Queen Elizabeth Hospital scandal that’s came out the unionist grumble bingo machine

They seem to ignore Labours part in it though. It was interesting to see Michelle McGintys name appear on the list. This is a councillor who thought she didn’t have to pay council tax because she was on the council. She also campaigned to build one of Scotlands biggest secondary schools on Levengrove Park (google it, it’s lovely) all because she doesn’t drive and a bus would get her nearer. Big brain Labour 4D chess stuff

BBC seem far more interested in “At Home With The Farages” puff pieces showing what a ruddy nice bloke to have a pint with Our Nige is while the Labour government are perfectly content to let GB News break all kinds of broadcasting regulations on a daily basis and despite the mounting evidence that Brexit was planned by these outside influences from the very beginning have no interest whatsoever in addressing that head on.

It’s a load of bollocks. He’s getting a harder time than people who are actually in the files.

If I knew Mandelson was a bad egg, had seen the photos with the birthday cake and the nonce & knew they were still friendly after Epsteins conviction, is it not asking too much for the Prime Minister to know it as well?

They'll deny it but he & his cabinet all knew. They just didn’t care because they all worked together & shared the same goal. Destroying the Labour Party.

Well done chaps, jobs a good ‘un. They just didn’t think for a second they’d be collateral. Which I find incredibly funny

I get that and can see the kind of injustice of it.

But Jesus H. fucking Christ, what was he thinking?

Nothing. He pays Morgan McSweeney to do that.

He’s made a complete arse of it but who do Labour think they’re replacing him with? The ring wing press will be going all out for a GE so they can get Reform in.

Mandelson more than helped Starmer become Labour leader and ultimately Prime Minister, by getting rid of Corbyn and the manner in which it was done.

Starmer knew about Mandelson and Epstein, but still rewarded him with the Ambassadors role to the US.

Everything Mandelson touches turns to shit.

Karma's a bitch.
