Remarkable stuff in Greater Manchester where the Greens take the seat and even Reform beat Labour.

A bloody nose for Starmer. That's what he gets for supporting Israel. The Greens pro-Palestine stance (about their only policy I'm onboard with) won them the all important muslim vote.

Interesting day ahead.

Labour kicked out in Gorton in a surprise to nobody.

It's nice the Greens won, but every main party contesting that seat should be ashamed only 47% of voters turned out to vote.

I've said for years you can't call the Westminster system democracy, when we have such low turnouts.

I would not have a sitting MP for areas, where over 50% of voters don't vote.

Prepare for a day of Labour "big hitters'  being wheeled out to tell us they are listening to voters and getting on with the job of reducing waiting lists and raising living standards.

Nothing changes for anyone.

Hearing the Tory party has lost their deposit in a by-election is a great way to start a day.

Maybe their leader will now wise up and stop chasing the 'white van man' vote by throwing about unseemly and banal phrases such as "paedo enabler" at the dispatch box. Reform already has that vote sewn up.

She needs to move back towards the centre right if she wants to save her leadership.

Sky News on the moving strip thingy :-

Election observers from 'Democracy Volunteers' report "concerningly high levels of family voting" in Gorton and Denton By-election.

What's that all about then.

Despite all the dodgy stuff I will predict Labour to clinch a very narrow victory over the Greens.

Just copying the Trump/Celtic playbook, always cheated never defeated.

Some people may have said that in 2011 when they started digging into fujitsu and the post office

I mean more that the coverage itself is weird. Even if she’s innocent, it would still be weird. We’re at the stage now, that we’ll find out what her favourite soap is and what the stars have in for her future

The comment section underneath these articles are an absolute bin fire.

What comment section?

I don't follow the story much, as beyond my simple brain, but IF there is doubt it needs investigating.

The next big scandal to hit, which will come from Private Eye investigation, will be what is happening down in Teeside in the form of a regeneration scheme. Truly mind boggling levels of corruption being alleged.

I just follow PE online. Better for the environment. It sounds like Letby lawyers weren’t up to much but that doesn’t automatically mean she’s innocent. She had the longest trial in uk history and an appeal.

The Teeside regeneration scandal should already see multiple people in jail. It’s like they haven’t even tried to hide it

Them Goodwins are fucking losers wherever they pop up.

The victor’s speech sound like commie talk.

That’ll do for me.

She sounds like a deefy. Anyone know if she is one? She seems to wear her hair down over her left ear perhaps to hide her hearing aid. Nothing at all wrong with being born deaf of course. She seems a very able woman.

As an aside the lassies from the deaf school were well known for paying out more often than the Dancing Cairns bandit. Wonder if there's any scientific reasoning why that was the case

Reform UK nonces are fair kicking up a fuss about the Asians "family voting". Couldn't it just be that not all of them speak English or understand the voting process so they needed help from family members?

I'm not buying that it's been done in any attempt at "cheating" per se or that people were forced to vote for the Greens against their will. There's a very good and understandable reason they voted for them. FREE PALESTINE!!

Starmer paying the price for cosying up (and worse) to the Jews.

The whole PE investigation into the Letby case, was started through doubts raised by medical professionals about the evidence given throughout the trial and why MD has run a series of articles about it in PE.

Plenty have cast doubts about the medical evidence used against her. Well beyond my understanding of it.

It's a very emotive matter and very unpalatable, but IF there is any doubt it needs investigating.

We've put plenty to prison and the gallows, in this country, based on poor evidence for crimes equally as bad, or worse, than what Letby is guilty of.

I wouldn’t claim to understand any of it either but surely all they’re doing is offering their opinion? None of them were there and PE seems to completely ignore the rest of it. Plus MD is a bit of an oddball (my expert opinion)

I don’t think it helps the families either, with all the google Doctors clearing her entirely

I quite like MD, speaks a lot of sense and he's good when on Countdown.

Folk giving their expert opinion based on Google covers everything nowadays, with even more making coin from conspiracy theories.

I'd like to think what is in the PE articles is based on professional/expert opinion and I doubt there would be many wanting to help someone convicted of something like murdering babies, without due cause.

It's a gender thing. A woman and a nurse at that couldn't possibly be so evil. Always men blah, blah, blah. She must be innocent ergo the original evidence and the resulting trial and sentence simply must be wrong.

Whatever. Wokery at work.

Was it wokery when Beverley Allitt was jailed?

Since you have only recently found forums, I reckon AFC Chat would be right up your street.

You can discuss AFC all day and I suspect their lunatic fringe would appeal to you in The Pub section.

I couldn't say if they have an ignore function though.

No idea.

I'm speaking about this particular case but she was sentenced in 1993 which was long before wokery kicked in. So it's not really relevant.

One odd thing about the Lucy Letby case is that the babies names are being kept secret. That is very unusual.

Why?  What difference would it make?

Is Letby is a cause for you conspiracy theorists?
