The Senate Judiciary Committee voted 6-2 Monday to endorse a controversial bill that would allow Arizona employers the right to deny health insurance coverage for contraceptives based on religious objections.

 

Arizona House Bill 2625, authored by Majority Whip Debbie Lesko, R-Glendale, would permit employers to ask their employees for proof of medical prescription if they seek contraceptives for non-reproductive purposes, such as hormone control or acne treatment.

 

“I believe we live in America. We don’t live in the  Soviet Union,” Lesko said. “So, government should not be telling the organizations or mom and pop employers to do something against their moral beliefs.”

 

Lesko said this bill responds to a contraceptive mandate in the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act signed into law March 2010.

 

“My whole legislation is about our First Amendment rights and freedom of religion,” Lesko said. “All my bill does is that an employer can opt out of the mandate if they have any religious objections.”

Rick Santorum wants to put an end to the distribution of pornography in the United States.

 

"America is suffering a pandemic of harm from pornography," Santorum's official website reads. "Pornography is toxic to marriages and relationships. It contributes to misogyny and violence against women. It is a contributing factor to prostitution and sex trafficking."

 

The former Pennsylvania senator states that, "as a parent, I am concerned about the widespread distribution of illegal obscene pornography and its profound effects on our culture."

 

Santorum criticized the Obama administration for turning "a blind eye ... to the scourge of pornography" and for refusing to enforce obscenity laws.

 

"If elected President, I will appoint an Attorney General who will do so," Santorum writes. "While the Obama Department of Justice seems to favor pornographers over children and families, that will change under a Santorum Administration."

The Nonce in chief was out with Linda McMahon yesterday, saying the same teachers that go climbing for dollars for school supplies, were surgically changing your kids sex during lessons.

This is how you end up with dildos on basketball courts. It would be great if guys could stop being so fucking stupid for 2 minutes

Who's we? A quick glance at the BBC shows there were updates on his condition a few weeks ago and a photo of him and his wife a month ago. What do you need as confirmation that an old man is unwell and taking a while to get better? Do you think that reporters/you should be given access to his bedside to quell online rumours? Or should he just be left in peace with his family to recover, or otherwise?

What's the conspiracy here? It seems extremely likely that an 84 year old man could still be unwell after pneumonia. It wasn't that long ago that there were stories of Trump not being seen, then, previously, Biden. When the truth is both plausible and quite mundane, it's probably safe to say that there isn't much in the way of conspiracy.

In theory this guy is a public servant. He has been fairly open about his opinions on health care, sick pay etc. Do you not think the that the people who elected him deserve some kind of representation? How long should they go without? At best, he’s incapable of doing the job. The reason the conspiracy theory exists is because of how his party are handling it. Nobody, including the governor, can get in touch with him.

I think that if you have no mechanism within your system to deal with sickness in an elected representative, then the system is flawed, not the person. I don't think I'd be banging on the door of my MP, asking him to get the fucking potholes fixed, if he'd just had pneumonia. Maybe a governor should be doing more to address a broken system rather than gossiping about an 84 year old. This governor lad sounds like a bit of a bellend.

If you can’t prove that you’re alive and still earn a living indefinitely without having to check in from time to time, then I’d agree the system is flawed.

The odd thing is that nobody is trying to find out. The republicans don’t want an election, the dems are happy he’s not voting. I don’t think banging the door every 76 days is asking too much to see if he’s dead.

One of the cable news channels showed video of congress in session a couple weeks before McConnell was hospitalized. They sped through the entire day and he was motionless the entire day in a wheelchair. There was a 'wheelchair driver' sat beside him the entire time, fidgeting as you'd expect. A few times someone would come up to talk to McConnell, once apparently to tell him he'd 'voted the wrong way'.

Basically, he was full Weekend at Bernie's weeks before his "fall".
