Crazy American Politics

Story #1

http://www.statepress.com/2012/03/12/senate-judiciary-committee-endorses-controversial-contraceptive-bill/

The Senate Judiciary Committee voted 6-2 Monday to endorse a controversial bill that would allow Arizona employers the right to deny health insurance coverage for contraceptives based on religious objections.

Arizona House Bill 2625, authored by Majority Whip Debbie Lesko, R-Glendale, would permit employers to ask their employees for proof of medical prescription if they seek contraceptives for non-reproductive purposes, such as hormone control or acne treatment.

“I believe we live in America. We don’t live in the  Soviet Union,” Lesko said. “So, government should not be telling the organizations or mom and pop employers to do something against their moral beliefs.”

Lesko said this bill responds to a contraceptive mandate in the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act signed into law March 2010.

“My whole legislation is about our First Amendment rights and freedom of religion,” Lesko said. “All my bill does is that an employer can opt out of the mandate if they have any religious objections.”

Story#2

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/rick-santorum-wants-ban-hardcore-pornography-222833811.html

Rick Santorum wants to put an end to the distribution of pornography in the United States.

"America is suffering a pandemic of harm from pornography," Santorum's official website reads. "Pornography is toxic to marriages and relationships. It contributes to misogyny and violence against women. It is a contributing factor to prostitution and sex trafficking."

The former Pennsylvania senator states that, "as a parent, I am concerned about the widespread distribution of illegal obscene pornography and its profound effects on our culture."

Santorum criticized the Obama administration for turning "a blind eye ... to the scourge of pornography" and for refusing to enforce obscenity laws.

"If elected President, I will appoint an Attorney General who will do so," Santorum writes. "While the Obama Department of Justice seems to favor pornographers over children and families, that will change under a Santorum Administration."

Hilarious. Trump really is thick as shite. Everyone in the galaxy could see that coming before they even met. What an embarrassment of a nation (as most nations are). Two of life's absolute losers inv

  • We just mainly hear about their gestapo shooting Americans in the face, the child sex trafficking and fascist stuff but that’s good news about property taxes

Surely to fuck the non-psycho GOP-ers need to step in here.

This is sub-Bond-villain shit.

If the world comes out the other side of this, surely the U.S. will get mega, socio-political reforms in place to ensure no other criminals can pull off what Rapey has done?

Doubt it, the dollar reigns supreme.

Nuclear strike likely takes out most of the Middle east with whatevers left becoming a deathzone.

Say goodbye to the Oil industry

Did always wonder how the world of Mad Max would eventually come about. Best put all your money into pig farms, bondage clothing, and dog food

Why has Melania suddenly come out and made a speech to distance herself from Epstein? She trying to get ahead of something big coming or is this just more gaslighting from Team Trump?!

Odd thing to do.

People were saying a while back (some jokingly, some seriously) that Trump has made such an arse of the Iran war that he'll need to put some Epstein stuff out to distract back to that.

Probably exactly what this is.

So much winning!

It appears the orange gimp has went too far, depicting himself as Jesus.

If it wasn't so serious, this Trump presidency could have been the best political satire ever.

It’s very strange what Americans will & won’t put up with.

My big match prediction of him being gone by the end of summer is looking good. He’s unraveling too quickly

Surprising to me that's the thing that's finally having an impact. My experience of living there was that most people who go to church do so for the financial/tax/social/networking opportunities more than anything. I guess this gives people the "out" they have been secretly craving, cognisant that no-one will believe they suddenly actually care about the poor/minorities.

No chance this is the out. "Proper Christians" love the Iran war. It'll blow over in a day.

What are the tax and financial benefits of being a bible basher in the USA?

My experience was more middle-class suburbia and that seemed mostly about "donating" large (tax deductible) sums to tax-exempt religious organisations and being rewarded in return with jobs, contracts, business opportunities, etc. Social capital you could say.

Not sure but theres got to be some benefits when it comes to jobs. Do you get unemployed Mormons? All the ones I know cut about in range rovers

'Murican 'Christians' are a weird bunch.

They espouse an ethos so contrary to Big J's that it is hard to think they haven't named themselves ironically.

I used to go on a Bruce Springsteen fan board. This guy, a Sceptic, was one of these outwardly nice guys. Kept bumping his gums about his church activities ....charitable giving etc.

But he used to give it large with some seriously toxic socio-political views.

He'd basically put up with anything any government did as long as his taxes were low (though never low enough as that would be zero).

I don't believe that's specific to US Christians though. I'd argue that the entire religion is founded on the antithesis of Christ, with the writings of Paul, specifically, appearing to bear no relation to the actions and words attributed to the big guy. I'm sure Paul was a great lad, but he seems to have got it all wrong.

I thought 'yet Iran has the strait' was a nice reply to JD Vances 'we hold all the cards' comment.

Most folk of the religious persuasion that I know are the biggest c*nts agoing.

Used to work for a family of Jehovas Witnesses many moons ago.

What a bunch of crooks they were.

Just a form of freemasonry in my opinion.

Well, look what happened to John Lennon when he allegedly said the Beatles were bigger than Jesus.

No, its fairly global that right wing types wrap themselves in some form of 'faith'.

But American evangelists are next level.

Have you watched them speaking in tongues? How the fuck can the congregation sit through that and not say how mental it is 🤣

The Jesus thing is 100% a deflection strategy. He has got himself into an absolute mess with Iran and doesn’t know how to exit without huge amounts of negative press. Given that’s pretty much the only thing he cares about aside from endless grifting, he needs something to shift the conversation away. Having essentially got rid of anyone sensible or with any kind of experience in diplomacy he has lost the benefit of advisors, thinking he can handle everything himself as he is smarter than everyone else. The pace of his unravelling is picking up, assume due the stress he’s under. Expect full blown madman by the summer and then removal after midterm bloodbath.

I still think he has one more war in him and I believe it will be either Greenland or Cuba.

Cuba doesn't have too much natural resources to offer, so Greenland it is.

He is 100% mad though and he will take his place amongst the historical mad fuckers. History won't be kind to him or the cabal of cunts that surround him.

Recent catholic convert JD Vance telling the pope to be careful on matters of theology is a ballsy move

I think even the headbangers in their child killing army would refuse an attack on a NATO ally.

They’d steam into Cuba no bother at all.

Maybe he’ll go for Canada during the WC for full reality TV show vibes.
