Panda Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Only watched from the 30 minute mark (just in time to see us concede). We're defending well enough, although we were sleeping at the goal. Had a couple of decent deliveries from the left but no-one able to win a header. Quote
wee toon red Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago The coordination has been good and there's a pattern to what we're trying to do with and without the ball. Fine so far for pre-season. The two centre backs and Briedl have looked decent. We were initially very right-sided but has the half wore on we got Yogane on the ball a bit more. Quote
wee toon red Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Claasic Olusanya. Work rate and determination gets him an open goal, which he then misses. Quote
2stars Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago How the fuck did he miss that? Yogane put his hands o n his head then looks to the bench as if to say fuck me Quote
Panda Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago I often lie awake at night and think about the time @OrlandoDondescribed Olusanya as the third best striker we've had in the past few years. That is one of the worst misses I have ever seen. 1 Quote

For last season he was effective, but it was meant as a comment regarding the lack of quality we’ve had that he’s the third most effective, not as praise or a compliment to him. Quote
wee toon red Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Just been denied a stonewall penalty after Olusanya did quite well to combine with Bilalovic and get into the box. We've not been as good in the second half, Twente have really dominated the ball. Quote
STFU_Donny Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Marshall certainly doesn’t look out of place, which is nice to see. Quote
wee toon red Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Lost 1-0. Positives were that organisation and work rate were good and the new signings all had something to offer. Marshall did well when he came on and I thought Azeez looked a bit more useful. Olusanya is Olusanya, you know what you're getting. Decent for a pre-season friendly, especially in the first half. BigAl Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago 1.0 full time. On reflection I might have been harsh with my half time comment. Over the piece, I think they just about edged it but there were a few things about us that looked a step forward from last season. Early days and whilst admittedly the lack of goals in the team remains a concern, I suspect we will prove to be more difficult to beat than we were last season. Quote
OrlandoDon Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Only saw pieces of the first half but still think we’re short a legit winger, think Yogane is right footed on the left, can we please get a traditional pacy winger who goes on the outside? Quote

Preferably post a video of you saying "I'm sorry" and we'll all move on. Quote

I think we can also say that 433 is the formation we are going with this season and it looks to be solid enough so far. Twente are a decent enough test at this stage of pre season and I'm certainly not disheartened after that. We certainly seem to be pressing much better than we have seen in a long time. With the league Cup on the horizon hopefully we will start to click going forward and that will springboard us into the league campaign nicely. We also have Mouloua to come into the squad and that will also change the dynamic of our attack. Quote
Panda Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago We looked tidy enough and in the first half defended well for the main. Not as solid in the second half and TC Twente passed up a few chances. Thought Yogane looked okay in the first half and Bilalovic was good too in his cameo. That's two left sided players though, yet we're lacking on the other wing (Keskinen played there first half, couldn't see who was there second half but we offered very little down that side). Was surprised Olusanya didn't play on the right, although we had no other striker on the bench. Two friendlies to come plus four very winnable League Cup games. I'd expect we'll have gone up a level by the time the Hearts game is upon us. Quote

I've still got concerns about both full back positions as well. Malloy is fine defensively on the left but doesn't offer much going forward and Frame looked pretty rusty when he came on. I think the right back area is stronger than the left but can still get better. Quote
TheDonbytheDee Posted 45 minutes ago Report Posted 45 minutes ago (edited) Just seen the Olusanya miss. Didn't think he could possibly have a worse miss than the Livi one last season, but he surpassed that today. We just shouldn't sign such poor football players, who we all know just won't improve us. That’s the ongoing argument though, isn’t it? Yes, missing an open goal isn’t improving us but in other parts of the game does his work rate and pace improve us? I’d argue that in certain situations, yes it does. Not as our main man or a starter, but there’s a role for him to play. Quote
Mason89 Posted 12 minutes ago Report Posted 12 minutes ago My attitude, work rate and ability to miss open goals would all be first class but would we not be better with someone that can play football? Quote
