Aberdeen v Hibernian

Stephen Robinson's Big Red Juggernaut continues its journey to the Championship on Saturday 11th April with a 3 pm kick-off at Pittodrie when Hibernian come up to bag themselves an easy three points.

I fancy us to surrender meekly once again to a 0-3 defeat, with the players having blethered a lot of pish to the media about "putting in a shift" and "rewarding the excellent fans" in midweek.

Bunch of c*nts that they are. Aye, the players, nae the fans.

My pants are a bit less sodden than usual this week. There's still some way to go before I will feel confident about wearing light coloured trousers, though.

It’s crazy that we are hurting so badly in center mid. We allowed Clarkson polvara aouchiche and sivert leave, all who were not long term for us, but would probably start ahead of most of what we have

It has certainly been a horrible place for fans to come to for a while!

Not as optimistic as you Swaddon. Doubt this lot would beat the women's team and they are keech too. Maybe Elvis is the catalyst to inspire a miracle. Other than that is there any word when Knoester might be back?

The only thing we have to cling to here is the fact its Hibs.

If we’re lucky, they’ll Hibs it.

If it goes as expected, McGrath will bag a  hat trick in a complete stroll for them…

Play a 5-3-2, Nisbet and whoever wins the training ground raffle up front, Cameron and whoever's turn it is in midfield, Shinnie in front of defence, Lobban and Frame (if fit) to try give us some width.

Honestly, I'd probably take a draw. A goal would be a wonderful bonus. Two goals and I'd need a lie down.

Hope Joey Harper gets a great reception. Maybe give him the last 20 minutes too.

I hope Joey Harper gets a game, never mind a great reception.

It’ll be the 56th anniversary of his goal in the 1970 cup final.

Certainly better chance of him scoring than any of our strikers.

I'm leaving Glasgow early to get back up in time for this.

No idea why I am bothering, but feel I must.

How does Robinson pick a winning team out of this lot.

Confidence must be even lower after today and that's the last thing we needed.

Agree with the formation, but Shinnie isn't the guy to be sitting in front of the defence. He's not the left to right type, he's the up and down guy! Aremu showed nothing to suggest he could be the left to right guy either (which is why it's inexplicable that we let Nilsen go), so I'm not really sure who we play there. One option could be to play Cameron there and have Shinnie and Geiger pressing high and getting on the second balls, but if Geiger isn't fit then I'm not sure who does that otherwise.

One thing I think is obvious, is that Robinson doesn't have a clue what to do in there either.

Is it worth risking KMK in there? Is he fit?

He's fit, I think, but he's not very good. He was way off the pace any time he's played this season, and looks to be a year or so away from being ready for first team games. If he'll get there at all, I wasn't convinced he would have the legs for it at all to be honest. Hopefully he'll get there, but I wouldn't be risking him at this stage in the season. Especially not when Robinson seems to be in full throwing the players under the bus mode.

where was Geiger yesterday? Horrible to throw youth at the problem, but I’d prefer to see Kjarten over afeez, who looks like our central midfield Ambrose so far.

id go w shinnie Geiger and Kjarten in there, but awful that we have no clue who to play when we have six games to save our season.

3-5-2 please and stick with it for the last 6 games.
no clue why we changed keepers, stick w mitov.

Milne Morrison molloy, maybe we see knoester before the seasons end. Lobban on the right, frame or gyamfi, frame is young and has shown more in attack, maybe too inexperienced, but so is gyamfi I suppose. Geiger Kjarten and shinnie, nisbet and olusanya.
Not a lot of flair or width so two up top w a bit of pace from olusanya is a must. we also need a three man center mid with a bit of physicality to get us in the front foot.

2-1 us, nisbet and olusanya!

I know we’ve got no choice, but the fact we’re having to rely on Milne, Morrison & Molloy as the defence to get us out of the shit gives me the fear.

Not the only issue we have of course, but they’re nowhere near up to it i’m afraid.

Our best hope is the fact we should have 4 home games out of the remaining 6, and the 2 away games should be Dundee, where we’ve got a pretty decent record actually, & Livi who are probably as bad as us & may well be down by the time we play them.

Its not much, but its something…

Reluctantly agree with this. Be really hard to play through at the very least. We are going to have to tough this out, we don’t look capable of stopping the bleeding with set pieces but our real problem is that we aren’t scoring goals. As chaotic as Olusanya looks, he seems the most likely to make something happen, even if it’s just by dragging defences around and creating space for Nisbet. It’s a pity we can’t find a place for Topi but he might just have to be a last 20mins weapon.

Hopefully Mats Knoester back for the post-split fixtures.

Is that you hoping, or word on the street he is??

I thought that Knoester was out for the remainder of the season and that Devlin might be available for the last couple of games.

Last I saw from club was that Knoester was waiting for all clear from medical team but they were hopeful he might be back for last 3 or 4 games. Been no update on him since that I have seen.

Scott Burns article end of March quoting Robinson saying he might be back for last few games.

Having Knoester and Devlin back soon could make a big difference.

Also, minority here, but I thought Aremu had a good second half on Saturday and Robinson may stick with him.

Our lot have shown is nothing to suggest they are capable of beating anyone and I see no reason at all this weekend will be any different.
0-2 (or 3) to Hibs and with Killie beating Dundee, Timothy likely to beat St Mirren then we will be heading into the post split games with us, Killie and St Mirren on 30 points each.
Squeaky squeaky bum time indeed, and I know the two teams that my money would be home to have enough fight and dig about them to finish 9th and 10th and avoid the play-off spot 😬

Aremu was stiffed by Robinson in first half with the 2 man midfield. He hasn’t got the fitness to cope. Once there were 3 in there with Armstrong linking play a bit more he was less exposed. If we have him in there doing the basics, breaking up play and screening then he is sufficient. Any word on why Geiger didn’t appear?

Muscle injury, but has still been training and only expected to be out short term. No word yet on whether that means he'll be back for Hibs.

I have a good feeling that we are winning this one.

Goodwin got his first win for us against Hibs and I am of the opinion Robinson will too.

I agree with you. We should lose, we should put in an abject performance, we should lose at least two cheap goals and we should struggle to get many shots on target.

However, with Aberdeen such underdogs here, this is where Stephen Robinson is at his best. He's only lost five home games out of 13 in his managerial career v Hibs, only five out of 17 against Hearts, and only four out of 12 v Aberdeen. Just 14 home defeats in 42 against three teams with significantly higher budgets.

I don't know if he can create that at Pittodrie and make it a horrible place for opponents to come again, but I have a feeling he might just produce a wee surprise result on Saturday.

*If he doesn't, was @TheDonbytheDee who predicted it first, not me...
