Not for the first time, I had absolutely no idea what we were trying to do yesterday. You could see it was wrong after 2 minutes. The whole ground was just waiting on it happening.

We can hope but what really concerns we is that they totally outplayed us. Nothing suggests we can win a game right now. We have no spine, no guys that will dig deep and drag us through this. Not saying gogic is the answer, but that’s the type of player we need. And a few. We have Armstrong and his hair.

3 managers this season now and none of them have managed to get a tune out of this lot. It’s clearly the players that are the issue, and by default the horrific recruitment.

Not a single even half decent signing last summer, not one. Its actually pretty remarkable.

Your point about Robinson not having a squad here suited to his style is why I had serious reservations about him as our manager, and its playing out as feared so far.

We probably need 2 wins from the last 6 to guarantee being safe given goal difference, maybe 2 wins and a draw. We’ve got 4 home games too, but is anyone confident this lot can achieve that? No, me neither…

I think we’ve created a perfect storm in our recruitment this season. Too many technical players with no dig, too many CBs who can supposedly play out but can’t jump, too many wingers designed to ‘cut in’, too many young projects to optimise player trading, too many ‘they were fucking brilliant when they were 18 so they must be good even though they’ve been shite for the last 6 years’, too many loans or temporary contracts who don’t give a fuck. Did I miss any of the absolute shit show of a recruitment strategy that sees us utterly devoid of any structure, belief or confidence?

One league win since December and some reckon we'll be okay as four home games left to play

Hate to break it to you, but we're equally as shit at home. 

IF Hibs go in front early on Saturday, Pittodrie will be toxic. There is no spirit of 95 vibe on or off pitch.

I think our best chance of survival, is Killie being worse than us, but I wouldn't bank on it.

Aye, it was obvious to everyone watching last summer too, it wasn't with hindsight that we're saying it. It's not just the summer either, it was continued in January. Clarkson, Polvara are miles better than those that have replaced them, and Nilsen leaving is just absurd. Focusing on bringing in more lightweight shite like Cameron too was just ridiculous.

It’s more that its clearly better than 4 away games would be, so gives us a glimmer of hope. We need something to cling to.

Agree it’ll come down to someone being worse than us, likely hopefully Killie, but the fixtures will play a part in that.

We’re due to play them up here, & St Mirren. That’s way preferable to us having to go down there, not even close…

I honestly don't think we have any advantage, including likely playing four of our remaining six games at home,  as we enter the closing stages of the season.

I think we will rely on others to save us, as I don't think we are capable of saving ourselves.

We are speaking about winning 2 games in the next six, when we have only had 1 league win since December.

Everytime we think we can't get any worse, it does.  It's not like we are unlucky either, in that we are losing games, when we are playing well. We are just shyte. 

Of course, I do hope our players find something from somewhere and claw us out of this mess of their doing. 

 

Wouldn't bank on us having home games v St Mirren & Kilmarnock btw.

Due to the absurdity of the split, one of Aberdeen, St Mirren or Dundee will have to play a third away game at Rugby Park. 

There is also a chance we may have to play at Tannadice a third time. 

Is being a top six team last season gives us a slight advantage in these decisions, but not confirmed until it's confirmed.

As much as it’s definitely clinging to small positives, it’s obviously far more likely we get wins at home than away. Am I missing something? Appreciate we are pish, which ever angle you approach it from but we are extra specially pish away. Not only have we not scored in an age, we aren’t even getting shots on target. I wouldn’t fancy us away against any side in the Scottish leagues at present. Contrast that with recent home games. We should arguably have beaten Dundee, even when we were down to 10 and a win against Falkirk wasn’t a stretch. I’m not trying to build a case we are good but unlucky at home but we are certainly more likely to pull out a result there.

Yup, good shout. The leadership are now obsessed with the idea of player trading. We are filling the squad with ‘potential’ - either young guys who haven’t really learned the craft or put in the hard yards, slightly older guys who have lost their way after early career success or as you say off form and so not played for months. We seem obsessed with unearthing hidden talent at the cost of just some good solid, experienced players.

Yep this. The recruitment has been a complete omnishambles for at least a couple of years, and this is exactly why.

Completely forgot the basics in pursuit of a very ill judged strategy - the basics being you need a solid experienced team on the park that can cope with the unique requirements of this league…

I reckon we'll be lucky tae get a draw v HIVs ... but Ah'm pretty sure we hae enough tae cobble together an' see us clear o' the dreaded play off zone. It might get ugly, but we'll get there  .

Hearing a little criticism of Robinson, think it’s really harsh to judge or put him down. The guy came in to an awful situation, terrible team on a terrible run. And he kept us up with a few points and a few wins. We don’t play overly well but I don’t think the wins and games we didn’t lose were a brutal watch.
Actually pleased robinson saw the shit of the last two games, clearly players who aren’t good enough playing or know they are already leaving. Either way, proves they shouldn’t be here and helps provide clarity. Just hope we can offload some contracted players.

Summer is massive, as has been the case in previous summers, an abundance of signings needed. I certainly hope Robinson has Aberdeen ambition and not st Mirren ambition. We are not a top 6 club, we expect top 3. I think given our budget that’s fair.

Have said before we build around certain players but sounds like Mitov could be gone, plus does Knoester have another major injury? Who do we actually have that’s a legit starting 11 player??

Maybe long term. But not next season. Robinson is right to say top six for now.

A very good Motherwell team just finished fourth. An impressive Falkirk were sixth. They, and Hibs, are our immediate targets.

There will be comparisons with Hearts - but they had a good squad last season, but the wrong managers in Naismith then Critchley. Shankland, Halkett, Devlin, Baningime, etc weren't bad players, just under performing. There was always a feeling a better manager would get more out of them. And then their recruitment added gems like Barga, Kiziridis, and a few others.

We're not in the same boat. That's why the criticism of Robinson is harsh. He has a far bigger job than the one McInnes walked into last year.

Now Hearts might struggle next year due to European football, although squad wise they look like they can cope with that better than the previous teams who made it to the groups. Also, they might not even have group football, it is possible they could lose qualifiers in all three competitions. So a weakened Hearts might just mean third for them.

Hibs will be interesting. They actually would improve with a better manager. Again, we have more to do in summer than them, and it's not like we have a bigger budget than them to play with.

Honestly, unless we have a superb transfer window, we'll struggle to be above fifth. Fourth would be a very good season. Top three would really be some effort.
