Needed a written invite to shoot too often and shirked physicality. Yes he was the best of a bad lot and a decent finisher but nothing special. In fact I think duk helped him hugely. For a man that tall he never scored a header either. God I took stick for it but since he left us the proof has been in the pudding. I don't think he's any better than nesbit and I don't think he'd improve the mentality of the squad as I don't remember him ever really putting his body on the line for the team. Nice to have in a winning team but not someone you can rely on. Gotta love a bit of healthy revisionism . I think we can all agree he’s a rat bastard but to suggest he wasn’t that great anyway when at Pittodrie is some impressive psychological management. 3 Quote

OrlandoDon Posted Friday at 19:52 Report Posted Friday at 19:52 Another signing with character and leadership clearly mentioned. Plus much needed height. I wonder if this is the end of molloy, especially since he cannot win a header. not concerned, but keen to see some creativity signed. Obviously Ronan is one if that’s a done deal, but wingers would be nice. Quote
Jormungandr Posted Friday at 20:20 Report Posted Friday at 20:20 It is reassuring to see that Robinson immediately realised - right, whole new defence. Also, 6 foot 6 tank signed up - this guy might even overtake Gogic in my/Moog's mancrush rankings. No way this guy disna win a few heiders, right? Quote

Type Miovski into the search and use "search by author" and @redordead He hated that boy long before it was fashionable 3 1 Quote

He’s useful as a back up LB in certain games where you don’t expect to be forcing the game and more likely to be defending Quote
manc_don Posted yesterday at 10:11 Report Posted yesterday at 10:11 Hopefully he does the job for us, but signing players from the lower leagues in England worries me. We’ve been burnt too many times. It’s a bit uninspiring, I’d expect players to be going to the o’s rather than from them. But fingers crossed he brings some much needed leadership. 1 Quote

I'd argue that defenders from down South are generally a good fit for the SPFL. We've had some bad ones, of course, but we've had decent success too. Being 6ft6 is a very good start, and could be the defining starting point of the Robinson era. A very Robinson signing. The interesting part is that he's left footed. That suggests no room for Knoester, if we're going for a back four. That would be a boost for Milne, who could be allowed the space to develop alongside a guy who'll most likely target everything entering our box. We could very easily have opted for a right footed giant to accompany Knoester. Quote
The.Moog Posted yesterday at 11:10 Report Posted yesterday at 11:10 (edited) 6 foot 3 right sided CH - Mayo 6 foot 6 left sided CH - Happe Back-ups in Tobers (if finally fit) and Knoester unless we get a good offer in which case he could be away. Cheerio Milne & Molloy at CH. Proof of the pudding will be on the park of course, but its a resounding yes from the Moog jury so far in that Robinson has identified a glaring weakness (wasn’t hard tbf) and has has done something about it early doors. Just need Gogic back there now to complete the set… Edited yesterday at 11:11 by The.Moog 1 Quote
Jormungandr Posted yesterday at 11:14 Report Posted yesterday at 11:14 Was there any estimation as to how long Knoester would be out? First thoughts were it was a really bad one. Quote
The.Moog Posted yesterday at 11:19 Report Posted yesterday at 11:19 Said he’d be out a couple of months so will miss the league cup group games but might be back for start of season proper, though that might be a wee bit optimistic… 1 Quote
Ajja Posted yesterday at 11:53 Report Posted yesterday at 11:53 Orient fans have mentioned a lot about fitness and injuries. Made of paper and AI pics of him signing on at Dons with a cast on his leg type stuff. Some saying he would have played at a higher level than them if he could stay fit. He did play 40 games last season so maybe he is strengthening and conditioning in the right places. Fingers crossed. Quote

Abz just did a podcast on him with a guy from an orient podcast (his last name is pronounced happy btw). Injury was mentioned but hardly to a Scott booth or Paul Bernard level. The thing that really pleased me was he is apparently very tidy on the ball, not one for hoofing it at all and particularly good at finding a right winger with a crossfield pass from the left side of defence. Certainly not a hammer thrower. Quote
OrlandoDon Posted 23 hours ago Report Posted 23 hours ago Interesting that no gossip about briedl, happe, or Ronan until they are pretty much a done deal. Club does well to keep things quiet, which makes it less fun for us! who is next?? I’d like to think we could find a cheaper equal or better ability player than olysagna, although you can’t deny he was effective in the games he played, plus I think we’re more inclined to try and find the next Miovski instead of paying a chunk of money for the current one. If you took the majority of “online” dons fans’ opinions of anything then you’d be in for a pretty wild ride. I assume (hope) most club’s fans will be the same so will cross my fingers that this guy will be decent. Edited 23 hours ago by wee toon red Quote
Ajja Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago (edited) SR is clearly going for the concrete just now. Strong CMs and muckle CBs. The central spine is starting to take shape but it’s never the exciting part of building a team and is probably what we are all expecting him to be handy at. Hopefully we start to see the flare being added soon. Much harder bit to get right. Lutz needs to step up. Edited 22 hours ago by Ajja Quote
Don Julio Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago Talk about a complete 180. Kilmarnock and Leyton Orient versus AC Milan and some other continental clubs. Will be interesting to see if it’s better or worse (I’m not prejudging) but it couldn’t be more different. Suggests the club has no strategy. Quote

The.Moog Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago 14 hours ago, Brochred said: Or...decided that the previous strategy failed miserably so they binned it. Not convinced on lower league englandshire recruits but let's just see how it goes The point of a strategy is it isn’t set in stone. It outlines the vision and targets so everyone can understand what you’re trying to achieve and their part in it - but it also is intended to be revised and amended as time goes along. Now our strategy was clearly massively flawed, but it appears that’s been recognised and they’ve changed course - so credit for that. Hearts have signed 2 lower league CH’s from down south, and paid over a million for one of them allegedly, so clearly Jamestown doesn’t have an issue looking there. Every signings a gamble, especially with us, but it will be interesting to compare our new CH’s and how they get on with the Diets new guys. One thing for sure, on paper they are definitely more suited to this league than any of the recent CH signings have been… Quote
