Falkirk v Aberdeen

Sorry @swaddon min, have too much to rant tonight to wait for the match thread to appear.

Just how significant is the Falkirk game now?

If we lose to Falkirk, they will leapfrog us and we'll fall to eighth. Since we'll be in January, that's sackable territory.

A reminder of Dave Cormack's statement on 31 January 2024 when he sacked Barry Robson:

"There is a talented squad of players at the Club which makes our current league position unacceptable." We were eighth, after three wins in 11. Robson's final game was a draw.

Jim Goodwin was sacked on 28 January 2023 with the club in seventh, with two wins in 11.

Stephen Glass made it all the way to 13 February, with the club in ninth, with four wins from 11 (two from nine).

Unlike two of the above, Thelin is still in the Scottish Cup, and unlike all three has won a trophy within the last eight months. The sporting director's recent arrival also buys him time as he unlikely doesn't want a sacking on his record too soon. And, Thelin also hasn't had the January transfer window.

So all these things to me would suggest even defeat at Falkirk wouldn't mean Thelin is in any immediate danger.

However, fail to win on Saturday, and that would be three wins in his last 11 (four in 14). And a double header with Rangers is after that. Lose the cup game to Raith Rovers and you know what, that might be when the club did need to act to stave off angry fans.

Jimmy, I don't want to read in two years about your first league title at some Scandinavian club where everyone is raving about your 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3 hybrid. For the love of fuck, FOUR AT THE BACK ON SATURDAY!

Crumbling stadium is on Milne. He deliberately let it rot for years. The council have led us a merry dance on the new ground too. Training facilities are good, not their fault they are not being

  • I’m not sure outsourcing a “strategic review” to a consulting company and then hiring someone affiliated/linked to the consulting company to lead the “transformational changes” is a particularly smart

  • I share your enthusiasm. We are consistent. Consistently shite and have been for a year now. Maybe the odd good performance but even in wins, which doesn’t happen that much, we’re a dire watch.  fal

Our team is so poor there is no player I would worry about losing. Not one. I would rather keep any one of them than the manager though.

Knoester Milne and lobban, rest I don’t care.

Nisbet playing off Lazetic. That's great, but you're 75 minutes too late with that Jimmy.

Nilsen is on 3 fouls after his first booking.

It really was a wild setup. That midfield of Aouchiche and Armstrong is winning nothing unsurprisingly.

If those two holding players were Shinnie and Clarkson then it’s a different story.

Jimmy trying to get himself sacked?

And it lasted six minutes.

We have changed the front four a total of four times today.

Stuart Armstrong has played four different positions.

Not sure why you would keep two CH’s utterly incapable of handling the physicality of Scottish football…

Desperation. It’s the worst and most obvious desperation we’ve seen from a manager in recent times. Week in week out it’s hoping something will stick. That’s how we ended up with a back 3.

We have to move on, the fan love and support will start to drop for sure.

I know it's been discussed a lot, but Clarkson must have done something really bad to not get a game in this side at the moment.

It’s a shambles, we are all over the place. Totally lost discipline.

Thelin on one of his trademark winless runs again as we tumble down the league. New year. Same old crap. No redeeming qualities.

He must be away this transfer window. Same with Palaversa.

I’d really like to know why cormack keeps jimmy. What has improved in the last 18-20 months?

we’re an awful watch and have been for most of jimmy’s tenure. And we rarely win. Cup final papered over a vastly disappointing season, and this season we have been piss poor most games. Even the recent wins we’ve been very fortunate to win.
it’s time to move on, sadly. We gae jimmy more than enough time. No shame in moving on.

Totally outplayed by Falkirk. Not one shot on target. 90 minutes of utter pish. How will Jimmy spin this? A complete shambles of a football club.

That was grim. Just grim. No real redeeming features at all.

Can’t help but feel the end is nigh.

Bl@@dy useless

They are actually getting worse

It's never going to get better under Thelin, might as well dump him now.

It’s because he’s an oddball with no knowledge about football

I’ve tried to remain supportive and I’ve been on the fence for a while, but thats it - I’m done.

This guy is a clueless charlatan. He has absolutely no idea how to fix any of the issues we have.

18 months in and millions spent to produce a genuine bottom 6 SPFL outfit. It’s a complete joke.

He needs to go, he won’t of course, but he needs to.

Instead we’ll waste another transfer window and stumble on with this directionless, clueless mess.

It’s completely unacceptable…

It's a bizarre tactic to go from a back three to a 4-2-4 within a few days of your last match without a huge amount of time on the training pitch. We showed in the second half (a little bit, anyway) that the 4-2-3-1 was a more balanced setup, and at least one that the players seemed a little familiar with. It seemed a little bit like a final punt by Thelin.

Back to day zero for the three year project.

Dont agree. Think we are a well organized and well run club. We dont want to sack a manager every year so gave jimmy time. That’s fair. But Jimmy’s time is up and no shame in admitting that, he was backed and funded. Maybe the Lutz position came too late for him, but there’s little to suggest jimmy turns this around. We’re a mess defensively and in attack.

not looking forward to the Huns double header.

The sheer number of managers in such a short period of time does not back your point up.

Only moment of enjoyment was when Nilsen turned into prime-Zidane for a couple o seconds.

Otherwise, utter p1sh fae start to finish. No redeeming features.
