Confectionery Of Years Gone By

So the reference to a thing called a Red Bounty (still don't recollect it tbh) in the film thread set me thinking about sweets of my youth that to the best of my knowledge are no longer with us

Sports Mixtures

Football Chums

Fruit Salads/Black Jacks

Bar Six

Aztec Bar

Spangles

Texan Bar

Sure there must be many others. What favourite of yours is no longer with us 🤔

Just heard an icer (Ice Cream Van) outside our house and bought two sliders, for the first time in over 30 years. One was for the Wife.

Fine enough, but over £6!!!

Can't be sure of the exact value, but sure the last time I bought one, it was about 20p!

An icer??? It was the icey for me growing up!

Nope, plain sliders.

I was a little bit drunk, when I bought them.

I don't even like ice cream that much. I think I must have had a nostalgia rush, when I heard the chimes.

🤣

Did anyone here tell their kids "when the icer plays their chimes it means they're sold out" 😂

Vivid memory o' a wee lassie gettin an ice cream cone fae the icer ... a 'cappie' if ye prefer .... excitedly she ran fae the icer, but tripped, and the ice cream fae her 'cappie' flew aff an' landed in the gutter. Ah laughed ... she roared an' grat!

Ah now recall that occasion often when describin' a person's disappointment ... or soor face thus ... "A face like he/she jist drapped his/her cappie ten steps fae the icer."
