So the reference to a thing called a Red Bounty (still don't recollect it tbh) in the film thread set me thinking about sweets of my youth that to the best of my knowledge are no longer with us

They predate Boost, but in the 90s were rebranded Peanut Boost.......before they saw sense and put them back to Starbar.

There is a new Old Jamaica under the Bournville  range but not a patch on original.

Never knew it was still available. Thought it was discontinued way back in the day.

Ive been living in NZ for 24 years now, and miss a heeeeap of UK sweets. Biggest misses are:

- double decker

- Gold biscuits 

- Ritter Sport -the yoghurt one

- Caramac 

- Kendal Mint Cake

- revels 

- UK Maltesers- the ones here are made from aussie chocolate, and are mingin

I would genuinely recommend kiwi chocolate brand Whittakers. Proper chocolate and I can’t touch Cadbury anymore, just doesn’t come anywhere near close. Not made with any of the palm oil shite either.

Had my first ever Walnut Whip last night, very enjoyable.

No chocolate snob by any means and still like a bar of Cadbury chocolate, but undoubtedly went downhill since the yanks got involved in them.

A Penguin biscuit can't be classed as a chocolate biscuit anymore, due to lacking the required level of cocoa in them. Same with a club biscuit.

I think that rule will be applied to a well known chocolate bar, soon enough.

Lorry tipped its load in Mastrick and parked up in car park where rent Office is now.

Hardly drink alcohol now and "ale" of choice  currently is pepsi max..would love to try scotch cola again

I remember Scotch Cola, and it was Hays. You can see a picture of a bottle in the below link, hopefully it works. Not sure that's the original stuff the bottle though and certainly wouldn't want to drink it.

Woodpecker Cider and Bon Accord Blackcurrant cordial was drink of choice for kids in our house. Advocaat and Babycham too.

Never liked McEwans when I was young, but my pint of choice now.

Sports mixtures 'nae blacks' was the recognised norm.

The licorice eens were nae enjoyed.

Remember buying 50p worth of sports mixture fae a shop in Kemnay while on a school camp thing to Monymusk, probably around 1977, used to get 3 for 1p, ate the lot then was sick as a dog through the night, don’t think I’ve had them since.

Im nae old enough to remember getting THREE sweets for 1p. But I do remember TWO for 1p, back when we actually had half p coins. Up.until probably the mid-80s you could ask for a "10p mix-up" and get 20 sweets

That's my era too. You used to get a fair bag of sweets for 10p. Cola Bottles and the little foam mushrooms, being a particular favourite. 

I used to always dream of being able to buy off the top shelf from the 'icer'. Not dirty mags, just expensive chocolates, like Mars, Bounty, Twix, etc. 

Your 10p back then, could also buy you a cone, with either juice or chocolate sprinkles, or an ice cream soda and then you started to get 5p bags of crisps.

Our icer used to sell a ciggie, a match and a polo in a wee bag for 10p. Happy days.

10p mix wisnae a 10p mix without cola cubes. Or just a massive bag of cola cubes and nothing else for 10p. That's what I want for breakfast. Right now!

I was thinking Reekie maybe meant Cola Bottles v Cola Cubes, as I can only remember red ones too, but I could well be wrong. 

I do remember Pineapple chunks, which were basically a Cola Cube, but yellow.
