Really good win, fantastic result. Just saw the second half. We looked decent, with everyone getting stuck in. Battled very hard. The back four looked good (Logan probably the worst of the 4, but still good). McKenna and Shinnie won everything, and Arneson did fit he does. O'Connor made a couple of dodgy passes but was otherwise strong and McLean held onto the ball really well and got stuck in. GMS looked like a confident player. Well done McInnes, despite the cup(s) shite yiv done exceptionally well in the league.

Can't imagine Moyes doing much. Hopefully we'll hear of some decent applicants in the coming weeks. I doubt the position will be filled this year. I'd personally hold out for a while if there is no outstanding candidate at present. There is plenty of time to work out the best person and folks will come and go from jobs before the next campaign.

Seems to be a hell of a lot of support for Strachan still. A quick shifty on the BBC comments for example, and it's about 50-50 with those for/against. Strange. The Slovenia game was classic Strachan. Reverting to type when the pressure was back on him again. Undefeated in 6 games is a great stat until you realise it was just the pure desperation associated with the all or nothing nature of the situation. Strachan's job was effectively gone after Lithuania/Slovakia, it was just a case of throwing caution to the wind and going for it. It was like playing 6 games against the Tims where you know you haven't got much chance so the pressure is basically off. As soon as it came to the crunch and it relied on Strachan making proper footballing decisions again it all came crumbling down as he returned to his comfort zone. More importantly, as a manager he seems to thrive on that hard luck tale. It's like he enjoys the "heartache" and showing that he's a "true Scotland fan". He's a fucking drain. Like the cunt beside him. International management is about being ruthless and risk averse. The right thing to do in that last game was to take the essence (and formation) of what you had in the previous games and then throw in a couple of form players like McGinn, MacGregor or even Fraser who'll really fight hard and add something. Every international game should be a challenge to those players in the first eleven. Strachan was always "famed" for being outspoken, yet he had nothing to say about £36 a ticket versus Malta, nothing to say about the running of the game in this country. In reality, he was the obsequious little shite the SFA wanted.

Anderson started (and finished) against Norway in 2004 at Hampden. Man of the match as I recall, he had a fantastic game against John Carew in his prime. Seve was only a sub against Faroe and Lithuania for about 5-10 mins in both. Remember being pissed off that he didn't get more time against faroe given our dominance. So Anderson last starter I think.

I agree with most of that. I'll forgive Strachan when we make it to the play-offs. However, you say we didn't play that badly previously? We were fucking awful. The performance against Lithuania was one of the worst I've witnessed watching Scotland. It was Liechtenstein bad and it's really important to remember that if we fail to qualify, as it was unacceptable and so was his ignorant, flippant response. McLeish had a better performing team without the dickishness, and Vogts got us to a playoff too. I also think that they weren't slicker or technically better than us. We moved the ball about really well and were the better team for the entire match. They have a couple of good players, but I think it does a disservice to the players we had at our disposal to suggest they were technically better. Also, maybe a bit harsh on Bannan. He made some poor passes, but he was also trying a lot to break them down and play the killer pass. Fletcher, who I agree was good last night again, didn't put his neck on the line in the same way by just playing the simple ball. I think you need someone trying stuff even though it doesn't always come off. That said, I'd be happy if he wasn't in the team in the next match as I don't think he's good enough (neither Forrest or Philips either of whom should make way for Fraser). Would add that I didn't think Teirney had a great game either. He needs to trust his right foot. He put in a really good ball the only time he played one on his right. Anya offered far more threat when he came on, despite not being as good defensively. Got a good chance on Sunday. Think we'll win.

Excellent win and good performance. They were probably playing better against 11 as is so often the case. Well done Chris Martin for hoofing the boy into the ball for the O.G. Griffiths, Morrison, Robertson were good, Bannan had his best game (nae difficult) in a Scotland top. Martin did will when he came on despite actually being a farmer rather than a footballer.

They're not. That's the point. They've put forward a shite transport plan and, instead of addressing the plan, attempted to put pressure on the cooncil with shitey PR campaigns and aurora bollocks. Same as they did with Loirston. The cooncil are there to represent the city, not AFC. AFC have no excuses, this should be watertight. The NIMBYs haven't come up with one serious objection. Look back and you'll see Tom and others all suggesting the club needed to do more with the application and it appears that they haven't bothered. If it doesn't pass, it won't be because "nothing ever gets built in Aberdeen" or "NIMBYS ruined it", it'll be because - like everything big that gets attempted in Aberdeen through vested interests - the appropriate work hasn't been done, probably in order to cut corners and cost.

^^^^This. If McInnes hasn't noticed before now that Logan is shite going forward then he never will. He's a great right back, but he will never ever attempt to go at a player, so playing wide in some fucked up back 3 is just stupid unless we're expecting to defend the entire game. We needed proper width in either Wright, Stewart or even Christie. GMS was awful again, but if yer going to play him into form, then take the fucking defensive responsibilities off him a little. All over the shop all night, and it was almost entirely down to formation and personnel. Ball starting was fair enough if Tansey wasn't fit, but that was only based on the fact that McInnes should ken if he can play fitba or nae. He obviously canna, so McLean should have been alongside Shinnie with Wright in out wide and Christie in the middle. Rooney came on and jumped far too early for every single header. Him and May are not going to form a working partnership, they're too similar (in that they make the same runs). We needed width, not more central players. 4-2-3-1 was the only formation for tonight. Shite fae McInnes Also, Moult. I said before the Limassol game that we needed to spend the extra money to get him on board before that game. A striker was the difference between us getting through and not getting through and it cost us. So that's the euro money, plus he's just cost us an appearance at Hampden with another excellent performance. Getting through in Europe would have meant we could have afforded May too. I suspect the board not sanctioning the extra dough is what has really cost us here (although 250K for GMfuckingS is looking like pishing money doon the canal).

GMS looked gash, but give him another ten minutes in a role where he's not expected to do more defending than attacking then ditch him for Wright when he doesn't improve or make a double sub.

I don't get the impression Deek views Tansey as a starter at the moment, which is why I think it's a strange move. However, it could be something more simple that we don't even think about such as availability of a surgeon or some such. The club has maybe been given a couple of dates and thought, we might as well keep him available for a couple of games. Thing is, we're only really holding him back by 3 working days (if surgeons dinna dee wikends) if we keep him in the squad until Monday, and the extra week that'll take to get him back is probably nae going to make a difference if he's out for a month. I doubt McInnes would throw him straight back in for the Tims after 4 weeks out after an op. He'll take another couple to get back to fitness. Probably a smart move, even if he only comes off the bench tonight to score the winning free-kick.

I do the opposite journey quite regularly, I reckon the Blairs route will still be as quick. Unless the arse end of Badentoy is connected in anyway to the new road, then it might be fine. I'm assuming it will be, so you could either go into Badentoy if that's where ye are, or go across the ASDA flyover and in if you work in the town itself. There's definitely a slip road on to it from Banchory Devenick, but I haven't worked out if you can come off the road and onto the back roads behind the Devenick Dairy. That way, you could come out at hillside and head into Portlethen that way. It's nae obvious, and difficult to find the route on the transportScotland/AWPR page (it takes more than 1 minute, so I can't be airsed). Hope yiv still got a job to go to though given it's only 6 months away.

It's a good point. I don't think we've deserved to lose any of our games other than Hearts one too. However, there is none where we've comfortably deserved the points. I suspect what people are really saying is that we've been unconvincing against mostly bottom 6 opponents and, against what appears to be a decent Motherwell team, our performances would not warrant a victory. Do you think that's fair?

I bet it isn't

Went past that last night, only has one section left, so will finish next wik (believe they do one section per week as they wait for it to dry). Otherwise, think it's on target for about March/April next year, with parts maybe open before that. Think the original schedule was June next year, then they made some ground and set a target of December this year, before pushing it back again. Be interesting to see it when it's done, although it winna effect me until Kingsford opens.

I see fit yer saying Bobby, I just think we're way off it with the 2 up front just now. Wait until we have a bit of confidence before trying it again, or if we're trailing. The cup is too important to be fucking about with trying shite out. We've proved over 3 seasons that we can batter teams like Motherwell playing 4-2-3-1, there's no sense in buggering up our cup run. Maybe gie it a shot on Sunday if we get through.

Going to be a very difficult one on Thursday. Back to basics for me, solid at the back and in midfield and let the creative players do their thing in a recognised (for us) formation. No dicking about. Get back on track and start winning games convincingly before we try fucking about with the setup. Keep Maynard the fuck away from the game.
