  1. New striker incoming from wolves. Austin Samuels on loan with an option to buy. Quick apparently. One senior goal ever, which fits the profile.
  2. Yep. Wouldn't be surprised to see that site planning suspiciously converted to planning for hooses. The beach site would be ace, but I'm guessing that if there's common good land involved it will face a lot of objection, more so if the council are to put funding forward. It could take years, which is fine. Then there'll be the ground works that close to the sea. By the time we start, sea level will have risen into the away end, drowning several Huns.
  3. Quite right, bunch of fannies. They should have just requested that the fans in that stand, or the whole ground, be removed before continuing. It's great to see it being filmed though, the boring BBC would have panned to the sky or some nonsense.
  4. Why would they go for a poor man's Calvin Ramsay? Someone needs to sort out their recruitment.
  5. I thought the same as you first half, apart from maybe the last ten minutes. I wouldn't say that the Ramirez chance was easy, he struck it first time and hit it well, but Gordon was well positioned as you'd expect. It's not even one I'd have expected Rooney to score, and I think that has to be the benchmark for Ramirez. The jury is very much out still. I think he'll do okay but if he's not scoring then he offers little else. We were desperately needing a replacement after 70 minutes and in that regard it reminds me exactly of the McInnes years with Rooney past his peak. Brown was very good today, but I think the change in Ojo is down to workrate and concentration, he never really had an issue getting stuck in. He had several bookings and a red for us previously. He was just always late and rash in the tackle, but now he's not giving away the stupid freekicks.
  6. As soon as I said this, Jenks started to improve. Had a good finish to the game. A good battle, decent performance. That's the McRorie we signed.
  7. Yasss. Brilliant cross from Campbell. Ojo didn't get the chance to miss. Well played.
  8. Thought Brown has been decent, Jenks poor. Gallagher poor defending for the pen, bit very soft. Ramsay been excellent.
  9. I didn't even notice I'd done the latter. Full of the puns me.
  10. Aye, should be a good one. No idea how good they are, or us for that matter. First proper test of the season, in terms of seeing where we are (although tempered by the fact we've probably got some Jet* lag). Anything less than a four goal victory should see Glass oot the door. *Pun intended
  11. Gemmill said he thought that he might not start, so while he was still eligible for the u19s he was better off there. Seems reasonable, it's not like he's had 6 minutes on the pitch for the Huns or anything.
  12. To be fair, I don't think the boos themselves will be performed awkwardly, I think they'll likely be quite full blooded. The inappropriate public goading concerning the early death of an opponent is exactly what we've been missing during the pandemic.
  13. I think Lewis has been fine. We've been very much like a McInnes side: our first eleven is good but any injuries in important areas renders us useless going forward; it's taking a while to work out his best eleven, and he's determined to keep everyone happy in the meantime; we're entirely threadbare and relying on luck to progress in Europe; we faced poor European opponents, that made us look better than we are, unfairly raising expectations; some of the signings aren't as good as we first thought. Glass has had zero support in recruitment this summer, through the dicking about in getting the new head of recruitment in. The head of recruitment can't be expected to have much in the way of strategy by the end of this window. Perhaps a couple of loanees and leave things until January.
  14. The cricket pitches nae part of the common good land? Doubt we'll see much built there.
  15. I think Ojo did us over in that game.
  16. Agreed, he was very good. There's probably not much room for improvement in McKenzie, unlike Ramsay, so I don't see him being a guy that'll make us a million but if we'd signed a player that good we'd have been delighted. It's important to note that Greg Leigh was deemed good enough by McInnes. That was the tired approach to dealing with youth that we saw. Leigh was a nothing player. McKenzie might not have been quite good enough at the beginning of the previous season (I don't know), but we didn't need a journeyman in instead of giving him valuable minutes on the park.
  17. Unsettling an opponent isn't done in that fashion, I'm assuming it's the former. McLennan did a good job of running fast in the direction he's facing tonight, we don't need Boyle.
  18. Good result. We had a shocking first half. Much better second half. Jet was an abomination, the whole game hinged on him coming off. He was a complete liability. The entire shape suffered because he can't track back, resulting in Ferguson, Brown and Ojo getting pulled all over the shop. As soon as McLennan came on and started pressuring and marking, our shape was restored. I'm not sure what we do in the next leg, we're not going to create much and Ramirez doesn't have the fitness to mark and make the runs. They were good. We can match them at pittodrie and hope for an opportunity. Disaster for Considine, hope he's okay. Twenty short of third place in the player charts. Doesn't look good. McKenzie excellent in that role and thought Hayes put in a good shift too.
  19. Fuck sake, Considine out. Doesn't look good. Nae defenders? Whack on a striker? Nope, none of those either.
  20. Yep on both accounts. A solid looking team with plenty of cover for when Jet forgets to run. It's the sort of side you'd see McInnes playing against the Hun or Tim. Caution and hope to sneak one. Really lacking a striker to take off the bench if things aren't working and I wonder if this one could be a step too far. 6-1, Considine double, Gallagher, Ramsay, Ferguson and Ramirez. In that order.
  21. I thought Gurr put in some really good crosses under pressure. Logan of any season with us wouldn't have put in that second half defensive performance though. He was very lucky to still be on the park and should have been hooked immediately after bringing down Berra. I'd rather see McRorie used as backup for Ramsay. Whilst I sort of agree with your point about folk writing him off, it does stand to reason that if he can't displace Hernandez then he should be deemed not good enough for the dons. That does raise very legitimate concerns. However, I was far more comfortable when we signed him after he was released by Atlanta, which suggested* that there was no deal between us and our dodgy parent club. I'd like to see him a few more times before I pass judgement, he seemed to panic a little after his yellow and never really settled. As a backup, he could prove useful. My first impressions are not, but I'm not as convinced of that as I was Hernandez. *I say suggested, as I don't fully know. In theory there may have been a gardening leave style arrangement where they were paying him until he found a club or something.
  22. If you virtually fly back to the UK, you can watch it here: Time
  23. I totally disagree, and I think the commentators got it completely wrong too. The ball is swerving and Lewis can see that his defensive line his far closer to him than the attack. The safest option was always to do exactly what he did, which is parry towards his fullback who can easily deal with it (if unsure, he has an easy header behind for a corner. The idiot red TV commentator even suggested he should have caught it, which shows that he hasn't touched a modern fitba in the last twenty years, and definitely not tried to catch one with a bit of swerve on it. Lewis got two solid hands on it and parried it sideways towards his defender, there was no option to parry it around the post and with the swerve parrying it downward to pick up at the second attempt would have been risky. It was his best option for dealing with that, and it's difficult to understate just how poor Gurr dealt with it.
  24. That would be an interesting development. Bought by Atlanta and loaned straight back to the dandies. About 90% of me would hate to see such a move, with around 10% finding it incredibly funny.
  25. Hibs reject a £500k offer from the dons for uber-dandy Boyle. Would be a decent steal.
