Is the young Scottish lad David Gray still at United? A couple of guys I know used to play with him when they were kids... he's from Roslin near Penicuik. I heard he's mean't to be absolutely lightning.

I think with Peter Thomson, the fact he is an international and perhaps the parallels with Kevin Doyle, have made him a more exciting proposition. I watched that Youtube that someone posted the other day, and while I appreciate its difficult to make an informed judgement from a couple of minutes of video, the standard of goalkeeping and defending was reminiscent of Saturday afternoon down my local park in Nottingham. he'd be a gamble... but, as reading found out, one that could pay-off big time!

Some great comments on that message board! A typical attitude that you'll commonly encounter down here... I can take that sort of critcism from some quarters, but I've been to Darlington and its a fucking shite hole.

I don't understand this one at all? £100,000 is a helluva a lot of money for us... this guy must surely be a good prospect? However, at the same time this is a player who can't get his game for a team in the lower reaches of the coca-cola leagues. If he's not good enough for league 2, surely he's not worth spending £100,000 on... or is he? Has anyone actually seen him play?

It really is, isn't it! Although, I think we had a lucky escape with this boy Bakens. I really don't think its a good idea to try and bring in a centre half from Dutch lower leagues to play in the SPL - particularly with our track record of signing Dutchmen.

Majorca is as good as english anyway... I've been there a couple of times, years ago, and have never seen such a concentration of Brits abroad - bar nowhere! ... so I'll stick with the "j"

I'd resigned myself to the fact that our signing are likely to be restricted to a bunch of fucking "Dutch gimps" a long time ago. I reckon we need a new left-back more than another centre-back. We have Considine & Night-Mair covering at centre half... admitedly they are both shite, but at least we have someone who can fill in. We don't currently have a left back in the squad... que yet another Dutch gimp?

I think it's unfair to say he's only had half a good season... Alan Gow is a player that many of us have been aware for a long time now. As with most players from the lower divisions suggested as potential signings... i remember things: "This boy Alan Gow, a winger at Airdrie United, has been getting some rave reviews... worth a look?" - "Fa's this... div youse nae remember whit happen under JK's reign, ya prick? What has this boy ever done anyway?" .... and so on, and so on as he progressed through the ranks only to be picked up, eventually, by Rangers. The lad is a good player and has been for longer than half a season, he would certainly improve the left hand side of our team. I'm 100% certain of that. Fair enough the signing policy under Pele was a disaster, but that more to do with the manager than anything else! I'm certain their are players in the lower divisions who'd improve our team. I'd rather see us go back down this route than signing any more Dutch Amateurs.

Has anyone been present at Ibrox where we have defeated the Huns? That would be my ultimate magic moment! I will die a happy man if I'm ever to experience this glory!

Sadly Higdon would probably go straight into our starting line-up. He is better than Mackie and Bebo, therefore would probably be a useful signing.

Looks good to me. In my opinion the aberdeen home kit should be completely red, free from any other manky designs.

If thats true, then I'd say its looking very likely he's staying.

Dixon, Gow and Black/Cowie would be brilliant. However, I just can't see any of them happening...... they simply don't fit into the criteria of player we've been looking at. ie.. free As for John Kennedy, there is no way our board would gamble money on this guys fitness. It'll be interesting to see if can recapture his previous form wherever he ends up - he looked like a superb player before he got injured.

Maguire is worth another few years contract on peanuts.... as someone said earlier, the lad has a wee bit about him - enough to suggest he might make it as footballer in a couple of years. Give him a contract similar to Stuart Duffs and we'll see if he develops over the next couple of years. Doesn't represent much of a gamble in my opinion.

I met Willie Miller, the christmas before last, in Dusk while I was back in the 'deen on Holiday! Despite the fact I interrupted him while he was in the company of two very attractive young women (must have been about half his age), he was a perfect gentlemen. He agreed to pose for a photo with me, which made my night! Unfortunately, he also guaranteed that we would beat Rangers in our SPL fixture the very next day. Sadly, we ended up losing, so you can add "liar" to his list faults.

Quite interesting... our defending after the interval clearly drops off quite considerably. Not really sure why this happens/how to prevent it though. Conditioning not quite right?

Our support has been dwindling for a long time now. As I've mentioned before, the future looks extremely bleak too! SKYs blanket coverage of the EPL is that all kiddies are interested in these days... They're not going to bother paying money to watch Mackie and Foster down at a freezing cold pittodrie, when they could bide in and watch Rooney & Ronaldo on the box! We're in the process of losing an entire generation IMHO.
