  1. 2 strikers??? What the fuck are Maguire and Lovell meant to make of this? And how does this solve our shite midfield, porous defence and complete lack of a left footed player? EDIT: Just realised it says the brummie can play Left wing. I hope Steve Bruce has that position in mind as I have a feeling we won't be seeing him through the middle much
  2. TBH I'm more concerned about our own team than them. As long as JC puts out a sensible side in a sensible formation then I'd think we might have a wee chance. We need to get some confidence, wins and probably most importantly clean sheets on the board in the next few games.
  3. here is a more accurate list. (source http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/seeduc2007.html) Presuming that the seeds all win tomorrow night we WILL be playing one of those named below: Villarreal Bayern München Ajax *** AZ Alkmaar Panathinaikos FC Basel ** RC Lens @ Girondins Bordeaux Bayer Leverkusen Club Brugge Palermo Anderlecht *** Tottenham Hotspur Real Zaragoza Rapid Bucuresti Lokomotiv Moscow Zenit St. Petersburg ** Sparta Praha *** FC Sochaux-Montbéliard Blackburn Rovers @ AEK Athens *** Heerenveen Hamburger SV @ Dinamo Bucuresti *** Bolton Wanderers Austria Wien ** Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk ** Sampdoria @ Spartak Moscow/Celtic Sporting Braga Galatasaray ** Getafe Atlético Madrid @ Everton Fiorentina Empoli Stade Rennais CSKA Sofia ** Hapoel Tel-Aviv ** Red Star Belgrade ***
  4. As the teams coming through from the qualifiers are likely to be even worse than us are opponenets will come from those above and this lot: Rank Team Coefficient rating Group 1 Villarreal 78.374 1 2 Bayern Munich 73.640 2 3 AZ Alkmaar 63.995 3 4 Panathinaikos 55.415 4 5 Girondins Bordeaux 49.706 5 6 Bayer Leverkusen 45.640 6 7 Club Brugge 45.594 7 8 Palermo 42.808 8 9 Tottenham Hotspur 40.618 8 10 Real Zaragoza 40.374 7 11 Rapid Bucharest 40.255 6 12 Lokomotiv Moscow 38.920 5 13 Sochaux 36.706 4 14 Heerenveen 35.995 3 15 Bolton Wanderers 32.618 2 16 Sporting Braga 27.107 1 17 Getafe 25.374 1 18 Everton 24.618 2 19 Fiorentina 21.808 3 20 Empoli 21.808 4 21 Rennes 20.706 5 22 Panionios 16.415 6 23 FC Groningen 14.995 7 24 FC Nürnberg 14.640 8 25 Os Belenenses 14.107 8 26 Paços de Ferreira 14.107 7 27 Mladá Boleslav 13.851 6 28 Aris Thessaloniki 13.415 5 29 FC Twente 12.995 4
  5. so the sides that have dropped into the UEFA cup after last night and tonight are: Anderlecht Sparta Parague FC Zurich Dinamo Zagreb FK Sarajevo FC Copenhagen IF Elfsborg Tampere United (WHOOOOOOOOOOO) SV Red Bull Salzburg Ajax BATE (eh) Red Star Belgrade Dinamo Bucuresti Toulouse and one of Sellick/Spartak Moscow
  6. what was the hibs team. Looks like a great win for the reserves but we had a decent side out and it was basically the Hibs Reserves that were playing QP last night so I presume it was an even younger and less experienced side Hibs had out........maybe their U15s or something? Anyway good to see Lovell get on the score sheet. As for Young, I believe the expression is "Found his level" (and yes I'm quite aware that this could be applied to Lovell)
  7. what's another £20k to the international success that is the LSC?
  8. It's more that we don't need a young inexperienced striker than that he will be shit (which he will be)
  9. waste of time apart from anything how many Smiths do we need at one club?
  10. sheepheid min, I take it you weren't at yesterday's or even last weeks game? Zander has been outstanding and was the best player on the park in the first half. If I dropped anyone it would be Andy Considine who has cost us half our goals so far this season. Personally I would persevere with andy and zander. I don't understand why Touzani is at the club as JC clearly doesn't want to play him but he certainly isn't a RB. He may complement zander quite nicely in the middle but who knows as he has hardly kicked a ball for the first team. Midfield needs a boot up the arse, particularly our captain, who has been pretty woeful this season so far. As for strikers I have nae idea but JC needs to pick 2 and play them every week. Ideally Lovell should get a run as when he does he generally starts scoring so I guess given JCs love of Mackie that means a Lovell-Mackie partnership is the way to go.
  11. Even at 3-1 I initially wasn't confident that we would win but then we had a 10-15min spell where we were excellent, and really should have gone 4-1 up. The bastards made me think it was game over then we went and shot ourselves in the foot. Can't believe that Zander is the same player that was a constant bomb-scare this time last season and is now such a vital player for us that we collapse when he goes off. Suggestion was made last night that he should be captain instead of Seve and amazingly I'd probably agree at present. Seve was again disappointing and really needs to pick his performance level up. Unfortunately we don't really have any options in the middle so his place is safe but we desperately need an improvement there. It has been a poor start to the season but it was always going to be tough. We were generally poor vs the top6 and united last year, particularly early on, so it is no real surprise that we have found it tough again. We finished 3rd thanks to our results vs the bottom 6 and it is these matches that will again ensure we are battling for europe come May. Looking at our rivals, the OF will run away from the rest this year but should be a good battle for the title. Hearts are looking miserable, and our draw with them looking worse by the day. Unless changes are made you have to wonder if they'll even be top6 but no doubt they will improve at some stage before swapping managers disrupts things again. Hibs will be their inconsistent best but seem to have a bit more resilience than the past, coming back from 2 goals down twice already this season, something they would never have done a year ago. May well be our main challengers for 3rd although there keeper looks even worse than the previous lot. Killie will be there usual solid selves and finish somewhere between 5th and 8th. United and 'Well look to have improved and should be challenging for the top6 but surely europe is a step too far for them at the moment. As for the rest, looks like Brew will have a hard job at ICT, and Gretna may have some comepition for 12th with them and Saints while Falkirk will do enough to again finish in no mans land. Anyway great days entertainment and I'm confident that things will come good, as long as JC sticks with 442, and it's absolutely brilliant to see how well Zander is playing, lets hope he keeps it up (and plays 90mins sometime soon)
  12. agree whole heartedly that maguire should be given more a chance to shine this season (as striker nae a winger) What we need is for a strike partnership to be given a chance, ie a run of 4 or 5 games together to form a decent partnership (now where have I heard that before) as with the defence we should have established a partnership preseason, but instead chopped and changed. Infact have we not started with a different line up each game so far? (I would check but unbelievably RedWeb only has the pre-season results...how shit is that site?) At the end of the day it's all in the lap of the Gods and JC's tombola....
  13. try the ticket office doubt they have sold out
  14. can ye no read properly you daftie? He was talking about Oz
  15. did football start when the SPL was created? Pisses me off that folk seem to write 100+ years of football. Mind you atleast we're not as bad as the EPL-courtesy of BSkyB. Absolute everything down south is talked about since the Premier League was founded
  16. how many times did folk say Egypt was a stupid idea, before, during and after the tour? Where we off to next year? Burma?
  17. you expected someone employed by afc to stand up for the fans you poor deluded fool
  18. I have no idea how, after all the grief Morgan was giving them, the ultras managed to get permission for this but well done Alot of work and well worth it. (I'll omit the comment about a comparison with our teams efforts but you can imagine) Keep up the good work
  19. would it be wrong to start a thread about hating Aberdeen?
  20. as I got banned for fuck all my argument that I got banned for fuck all seemed to work at least afc hat seems to work quicker than the SFA (although it has just as many crazy rules and idiots in charge....allegedly)
  21. I've managed to persuade certain midget bond villians that it was a farce that I was banned.....so now I'm not
  22. I hope too otherwise we are f&*^*%* (to quote afc hat)
