Just finished Eddie Turnbull's book "Having a Ball" A great read, highly recommended.

You are probably right and its far too early to let the euphoria flow just yet, but what was noticeable was the vast improvement in overall commitment and better organisation at the back and in midfield. And they kept it up for the whole match, with no heads going down. They seemed to want to play for the team and the shirt again. The "auld yins" psychology must be doing something. Long may it continue.

I've just read Eddie Turnbull's book, so I'm looking forward to a similar revival. There are some interesting parallels with the current situation. No reason why a similar period of success can't happen again in the same way., although like other teams we will probably be erratic for a while.

Could it be that Brown has treated them as men, just like the great Eddie Turnbull did all those years ago.

Think he flew from Birmingham. Maybe he still lives in the Midlands - he played for Coventry until 2008. I think he played alongside Folly at Plymouth when they were there.

I guess some independent operators might want to offer something, but doubt if Stagecoach or Firstbus would get involved. If they want to maximise attendances, then they've got to make it easy to get to, which is at least an advantage that Pittodrie has. I can see the Stoney buses getting packed, maybe they'll make a detour.

One big reason. Pittodrie back to Castleback would be tolerable "dead" mileage, i.e. empty. Loirston back to the City is a different matter. As a commercial operation I doubt whether it would be viable.

Are they bringing back the yellow buses? And the trams maybe? I remember them all lined up on Merkland Road. Doubt if they'd get up the Nigg Brae though.

With plenty of "atmosphere", no doubt.......... just for home fans?

Whatever the logistics, it's never going to have the easy access that Pittodrie has. It's going to be sterile and bland, like all the other new out of town stadiums. Where are the nearest pubs, and what happens when you can't get a car park space. At least you could park at The Beach and walk across the links to Pittodrie. Will the Pittodrie Bar become a museum?

The new stadium plans are obviously gathering momentum and it will eventually happen at some point. I hope consideration is being given to car parking, as unlike Pittodrie, it will be difficult to access by public transport. What will happen if you turn up and the car park is full? Very few back streets to park in there I would say. I'm sure this will have been fully considered by the planners as always....... maybe?

Yes, same here. Usual browser differences, but gives it a much cleaner look. I like it. Just need a bit more traffic.

So you don't think Milne got them in the second round by offering incentives? By nothing to lose, I meant that they are in the twilight of their careers, and might not hang around too long if they had to put up with what you suggest. Just depends what burning ambition or egos they have at their stage of life.

Whenever he put on a blue jersey, he was never going to be welcomed back. Best all round if there's a deal and we get a decent fee for him. The fact that he's now doing PR for them suggests that he's gone native there anyway.

I've just recently joined so don't know much about the history, but like a lot of other similar forums, depending on how active it is and how it accepts and/or encourages new posters, it can get to be sterile with the emphasis being on the predominant majority view. As it is a supporters forum it is natural that as numbers dwindle then the "hard-core" posters will tend to dominate. While it's good to know that there is a solid, although probably smaller base of loyal support that continues to promote the cause unquestioningly , there is also a much larger number that have just got out of the habit, being disillusioned almost to the point of no return. When and if they come back then livelier discussion may be re-generated. In the meantime there isn't anything to be gained by slagged each other off when a sceptical, more questioning view is put forward. After all we are all here because fundamentally we are Dons supporters. I'm not saying that we should all be agreeing but we should be slagging off the opposition, not each other.

I admit that on the evidence it looks as though our players have minimal commitment. If that is the case, then what is the reason for it. It seems to be a convenient peg to hang the blame on, but a whole team can't adopt this attitude together, surely. If it does then there must be very powerful forces at work.

Brown also spoke about how AFC is the only major club in a very large area and has a huge potential support to call on. He is right, but a lot of the faithful need to have belief instilled in them once again and I fear it could be a long process. Of course there is always a solid hard-core of support, but that may have dwindled as well. A guy I know, who has been a supporter since his teens like me, hasn't been to a match for over 3 years, which is something I would never have believed could happen. It would take a lot to persuade him to go back now. How many more like him are there. Yes, the team could benefit if the support rallied round in big numbers, but what comes first, increased support, or better performances.
