Apropos to nothing Hibs players transfers are currently worth on average 5 times that of Aberdeen players. A bizarre situation exists where hibs get 1.5 million for Murphy and we get 200k for Hart . Even accounting for age and contract length the difference shouldn't be that much. Hibs have made a fortune out of a side that was, is, worse, or at least no better, than Aberdeens. Asking why that is then you have to look at the power of the media in hyping up the game. The recent (10 years) lack of money and interest in the Scottish game is certainly partly to do with the fact that everyone, managers, players, media (cunts like Chick Young) kept saying our game was shite. Say something enough times and it becomes true is a cliche but there is an element of truth to it. The media say Hibs are brilliant and play magnificent football with wonderful young Scottish players and hey presto the big teams come knocking. These payers are out performed by Aberdeen's who everyone says are a hard working, functional side playing dull football and our players go for peanuts. Logical? Back to Fletcher, I see him at one of the OF next season for 2 million and whilst our lot will be Lovell leaving AFC for free and I still wont understand the massive disparity.

Fair enough on your opinion and the sour grapes thing was just a wee joke. The thing is that I don't trust our current board to hire anyoner better, indeed history shows they can do much, much worse. I also think that management, be it football or any other, has many many new techniques and everyone is looking for the new magical buzz word or cure. Believe me, I have the powerpoint scars to prove it. The latest seems to be prozone and the currentfascination with the holding midfielder. Fair enough use these to enhance but (as you probably know) don't underestimate the strength of surrounding yourself with talented employees, who you reward, motivate and support. If that's old school then so be it, it still works.

I'm not sure about it but your point comes across as a bit of sour grapes. I'd also add that Mourinho's teams were some of the most cynical I've ever watched. I'd think that as opposed to some football philosophy of always playing the ball on the deck, ad nauseum, that a mixture is better. Manchester United are the prime example of this. Arsenal are only now beginning to rediscover their verve now that they have Flamini in the middle to belt a few people and they certainly mix it up a bit more in terms of their directness. Watching them 2 years ago with 5 million square passes was just as uninspiring as a long ball team. Furthermore, I still don't know how you can say JC is purely a motivator without inside knowledge of his methods. your last point about us getting better results wth different tactics is pure speculation. Lastly I'd question your claim that we solely rely on the long ball. I just looked at our recent goals on RED TV and only 2 come from a direct long ball.

Orlando, no offence but when was the last time you sat in on the team talk or training. It seems a bit like the BNP myth that another coach could come in and take the players, signed by "fat fool who can't coach or spot a player", and take them to another level. Who's to say he isn't taking a group of half decent players to their maximum performance level? I guess that JC will be judged when he's not here and we can then, and only then, say how good or bad he is.
