  1. Games are won and lost in the transitions. These happen all over the pitch. Difficult for creative players playing final balls if there is no one making the runs and the opposition are giving no space. That’s why ours played so many long diagonals. Sevco sat in like a poor team playing a top team because they wanted to counter the fact we would be playing Cosgrove. We were poor today. Their goal was a penalty following an offside that wasn’t given. All their chances were from a hoof forward on a counter. We had one chance and took it. They have all their signings in, I would hope that we’ll have another 3 or 4 in by close of the transfer window. Taking nothing away from the huns it was a very good defensive performance, but if Gerard thinks it makes them a class above he’s in for a shock. Based on today, the tims will stick a 3 or 4 past them each time they play, as will Hibs if our remaining signings are the right ones I’d expect us to also.
  2. You beat a high press with long balls. It was pretty much a certainty we would start with Cosgrove so the hun sat in and attacked on the break. There was no tactical genius to the way they set up after Morelos was sent off, fuck all changed other than their ‘out’ became their wingers. We struggled to break them down and the possession we had was passive but that’s because of the way they set up. The diagonal balls were frustrating but all today really highlighted was how desperate we are for a top striker. Today would have been a day for Rooney his runs would have stretched them and opened space for others. To say sevco were a class above is deluded at best. A Moult or Marquis and we’d have won that by a few despite how poor we played.
  3. Shite performance but fantastic goal from the lad Anderson on his debut. Bit unlucky with his header earlier too.
  4. Just going to place this here... www.stadiumforbath.com About as central a location as you could have in any town. Land would be worth a absolute fortune for housing development.
  5. Did spurs sign someone?
  6. Seem to recall a similar level of arrogance from Bayern in 2008. Didn't they turn up to Pittodrie in their kits, in time for the warm up and leave in their kits after a warm down.
  7. Niasse was the guy, season before last, that Koeman stripped of his shirt number, locker and made train with the U23's, after one second half appearance in a preseason friendly. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/oct/11/everton-oumar-niasse-ronald-koeman-roberto-martinez I remember reading this at the time and thinking he came across quite well. Maybe a bit of pig headed belief and misguided arrogance but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Certainly seemed to work his way back in under Allardyce.
  8. See they're looking to loan out the lad they signed from Hamilton in January that they haven't paid for yet... Corrupt.
  9. Read yesterday that some midfielder they signed from League 1 would be getting £4k per week. Would hope if they're throwing that kind of money around in the conference, that they're paying a fee for Rooney.

    Was that Johnny Vegas??
  11. He's 26 though?
  12. McCann would say that, guarantee it would be a "massive step up" and "huge opportunity" if it was the huns sniffing about. TBF if you've been watching you-tube videos you've seen more goals of his than I have. Probably seen him play 4 or 5 times in the last 3 seasons. Maybe he just came across that way in those games, local derby etc. It's difficult to say, I rarely travel away (not at all last season) and barely made any home games with the girls team I coach playing league last season Saturday Mornings. So only see players maybe once a season. Maybe John Akinde at Barnet would have been worth a punt, signed by Lincoln on Friday having just looked. Billy Kee was top scorer last season and would probably be similar to Marquis. Then again I though Frear would have made more of an impact at Motherwell, so what do I know? It's always difficult to judge. I remember listening to Phil Brown on goals on Sunday when he'd not long started at Colchester saying the players he had there were of similar and in some cases greater ability than those he managed at Hull in the EPL, difference was psychological.
  13. Can understand why we're looking at them as they are the sort of players Championship/League 1 promotion hopefuls are looking to sign. I'd rather have Marquis than Doidge. Doidge seems to get success by bullying the CB's and I can't see him getting away with that in Aberdeen shirt. Marquis would be more like May minus psychological effects of two potentially career ending injuries. I said earlier in the thread we should be looking at Eisa at Cheltenham, I'm maybe biased but think he's the best striker in League 2 and an age and with an attitude that means he will only get better, but think it's been confirmed they're looking for a fee in excess of £1 million.
  14. Where you hearing that? Would be amusing considering he’s never achieved his dream of playing a European game under the floodlights at ibrox. Cunt
  15. Doidge is an odd one. Been interest in the past for him to play at a higher level, but hasn't taken it. Might be money as Dale Vince pays way more than most league one teams. Can't see him at the village team next season though, might be a bit of a Moult.
  16. Had him on loan at Cheltenham. Like Goldson in the relegation season, unlike Goldson if he hadn’t got injured and we’d kept him I think we might have stayed up. Goal scorer. But not sure he’s worth £500k plus Grant McCann is a massive hun.
  17. There's one in Washington state, it's where Kurt Cobain was born.

    World Cup

Somebody should put a compilation of England’s misses and Pickford trying to throw the ball into his own net, to the audio of Neville going on about Belgium trying not to win. Twats.
  19. I'd agree with that, can't see much value in their squad at all. I'd have had Davies two seasons ago. Maybe, Keilor-Dunn in another season or two if he continues to improve. That's about it. Schalke would offer fuck all.
  20. If true, probably best we don’t. Without ever seeing him play, Gleeson has chosen to play here for 2 or more European games, a challenge at top half of SPFL Premier table & a go at a couple of cups, from The Championship.

How was that any different to one awarded to Australia against Denmark by VAR. I’d argue more so because defender headed against his own arm.
  22. I think it's a UK wide issue. Winning is the most important thing, from 6 years old on. Don't get me wrong winning is important but not at the expense of development. Been coaching youth football for 7 years with a mixed team and 2.5 with a girls team. I've never focused on just winning. Instead developing technique, decision making and not being afraid of making mistakes. To be honest it's been fucking awful and utterly soul destroying at times. You take a player who has been ignored and left a club because they're tripping over their own feet, give them game time, decent coaching focusing on them as a player and they develop only for another team to say "come play for us, you'll win more", and off they go. I estimate I've lost 20-30 players in those seven years to more fashionable teams and they hoard the better players eliminating competition, often playing atrocious football. Players that you've coached to be all round players, at the back because they're tall thumping the ball long for the short fast kid to run on to. Playing alongside some other big lad who's been with them since he was 6 but still can't kick a ball straight. I don't know what the answer is the EFA talk about coaches not being parents of a child on that team, but that I think is slightly unrealistic due to logistics. Although I understand why, as it reduces the risk of parents living vicariously through their children. I quite like the model with girls football whereby we played festivals every second month until Under 11. Parents could watch but not comment, games were short so no demoralizing scorelines and coaches encouraged to only be positive. It's still competitive as I think on the whole the girls involved are way more determined and aggressive than the lads. Only thing is you've still got folk involved who go round trying to cherry pick the best players and doing mini-leagues in their head. The only solution to that, that I can come up with is give clubs specific areas they can recruit players from. For clubs with more than one team per age group, give each team an area within their catchment area. There would need to be exceptions say a percentage per team can be outwith but league registration is only granted with a valid reason. That would force coaches to actually coach and work with what they have. Maybe even register with the league and they allocate you a team. Would stop all the A, B, C team nonsense. Compulsory Youth Module for all coaches and Level 2 within first 3/4 years. This should be funded by Sky, BT and others profiting from football. Along with EPL clubs being made to fund building of one or two all weather facilities per season throughout the UK. Grass roots clubs apply from all over the country and they are drawn from a hat. Sorry for rant but sort the grass roots out and the rest will follow, it's where everyone starts after-all.
  23. I'm sure you're correct, although it is Ryan Jack so I wouldn't be crediting him with not talking like a retard.
  24. Surely as we have finished above them every season of their entire existence, it is them who should be looking to challenge us...

What was Mascherano doing for the third? Standing with his hand up rather than actually defending. Dominic Ball-esque. Delighted for Croatia though. Loved them since Euro '96 Boban, Suker, Jarni, Bilic, Prosinecki, Boksic, Simic...
