Agree with Jute. One off discounts are fine but a long term/permanent reduction is needed. And no it won't have people battering down the doors straight away. People will take time to come back. A few wins wouldn't go a miss either. So I don't think anything has been "proven" about the effectiveness of price cuts.

My old man bought one and he finds it much easier to use than a laptop/computer/netbook. As a result for the first time in his life he now uses email and can surf the net. Of course he could do this on a netbook but the ipad is much easier for him to learn.
