Faith No More - Surprise, You're Dead
-
Take some chill pills and you might have a bit more success in the job hunt, mate. I was just paraphrasing what was written in an article. I don't know anyone at Pittodrie on a personal level. I don't know Ron Atkinson's nephew dog-walker. All I was doing was posting a link to a sotry about one of the "possible" next Aberdeen managers, and passing comment on it. If it pains you to read this sorta stuff, then maybe football discussion forums aren't for you.
-
Read a disturbing rumour on "ComeOnBoro" website that Noel Whelan wants to be the next Aberdeen manager, and says one of his backroom staff that he'd bring with him would be .... Ron Atkinson! http://www.comeonboro.com/matches/080918288.php No doubting that Ron has got the experience. But I don't know if I could stand his constant drivel (aka Ronglish) being quoted in the Record every other day. It was bad enough having Jimmy working for the Record.
-
Yeah, he's just been named as assistant manager at Darlington.
-
So long as it's not anything shite like "New Pittodrie Park" or some shite like that. I do like stadiums that can be named singularly, like Pittodrie, Hampden, Tannadice, Tynecastle, etc (ie I don't like things like Rugby Park, McDairmaiaiaiaiehdh Park, Fir Park, etc). Would simply naming it "Loirston" be too shite? Sounds alright to me.
-
HELL NO! I hate Williamson. He's WORSE than JC. He's only marginally better than Jim Jeffries, and Jim's level is on a par with the bottom of the barrel.
-
I'm hearing worrying rumours that Bobby Williamson will be next Aberdeen boss. To me, he's on a par with JC in terms of shiteness, and just slightly above Jim Jeffries in terms of for-fucks-sake-ness. But then I did just read a rumour that Noel Whelan and ... wait for it ... Ron Atkinson have showed an interest in the Dons post. JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ, imagine the shite we'd have to put up with from the Daily Ranger with all the quotes that Ronglish comes out with!

Aluko and Langfield comment on " transfer requests"
Reekie_Red replied to RnP's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Doesn't matter anyway. Both are tied up on fairly decent term contracts. If they want to move, then someone's gonna have to pay a heck of a lot for players of the caliber of Sone and Langfield who, arguably, are now our most skilled players since Smith and Seve look to be goners. -
Darren Ferguson is . . . . .
Reekie_Red replied to TENEMENTFUNSTER's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Just shows he's more professional than the likes of McGhee who quite happily lifted his miniskirt at the prospect of managing Hearts. -
I was neither in the JIG camp nor the JMG camp. But I'm wise enough to realise that these two camps DID and still do exist. Just like capitalism and communism ... just cos I know they exist and know what each stands for, doesn't mean I subscribe to either of their values.
-
I just don't think McGhee is the answer to our long-term prayers. Whilst he may very well get our team playing well to begin with, I fear he may well drop off within a couple of years and we end up back at square one in terms of looking for a manager and the JIGgers saying "told you we should've kept the Jimmies"
-
Agreed. He's not really done much good OR much bad in football management so far. Black would definitely be a sentimental move, as would McGhee. There's an element of Fergie being that too, but he's at least proven that he can build winning teams. And, from what I read, pretty exciting attacking teams too!
-
... unless that someone is Jim Jeffries. In which case, I think most Dons fans will join Miller and Shauney in leaving!
-
I'm not convinced by McGhee. He's an okay manager, but we don't need an "okay" manager. We need someone who is going sustain JC's good work of keeping us in the top 4, but rebuild our cup ambitions. I very much doubt McGhee would be able to keep us in the top four. Hell, I think we would struggle to remain in the top six after a couple of seasons under his guidance. Black would be the more obvious choices that we can afford. But I would love us to give Darren Ferguson a good shot. Yeah sure he's brought Posh up two divisions in succession. But surely the chance to manage a club in Europe in a completely new league (whilst still in Britain) would appeal to him. Not to mention the fact that he'd be walking the halls his father helped build (metaphorically speaking).

McGhee to leave Motherwell.........
Reekie_Red replied to glasgow sheep's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I'm really not favouring McGhee coming to Pittodrie. I think I'm in the minority here, but I've not been impressed with his performance at Motherwell. If we had ONE season finishing in the bottom six, the Red Army would be on his back faster than we can say "JISMGOD". At the moment, the only name I've seen on the list of candidates that I like is Darren Ferguson. But we'll never get him cos we'd have to pay a hefty fee to Posh. -
So long and thanks for all the memories......

The European run was fantastic. But for me the real two high-points must surely be: (1) restoring the credibility factor to Aberdeen Football Club, and (2) Skelping BOTH sides of the Old Firm on a regularity that has not been seen at Pittodrie since Smith/Scott. -
... anyone else got Eric Clapton songs in their heads after that topic header? http://www.thedandies.co.uk/messageboard/chat
-
Exactly! You can't judge a player by the team's overall performance. If memory serves me correctly, in 1999/00 season when we finished bottom of the league, our regular keeper was Jim Leighton, one of our main central defenders was Russell Anderson, Eoin Jess was our most notable midfielder, and we had Winters and Stavrum up front! Cannae base your decision on a single player by the team's overall results. I'm sure there'll be some crackin players up for grabs from the Celtic youth squad. Then again, for every gem there's probably five Bryan Pruntys.

Donstalk, Aberdeen-Mad and the Ultras join forces!
Reekie_Red replied to Stand Free Ed's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Macca-Speak was the resident tim on DonsTalk many many years ago. He offended absolutely everyone every day with every single post that he made ... but not a single one of his posts actually broke the rules of the forum so we couldn't ban him. We eventually just bit the bullet and told him to fuck off ... which he eventually did. -
Still, against Rangers he was always immense. I liked auld Comb Worry (as the commentators called him)

Reekie_Red replied to Stand Free Ed's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
I mind the auld auld DonsTalk pre-match pissup about 8 or 9 years ago. BobbyB: "Hi I'm Bobbybiscuit" Cuervo: "Hi I'm Macca-Speak" BobbyB: <awkward silence> "... is that right then?!" <Bobby looks away in disgust, seeking solitude in his glass of vodka Cuervo: "Nah min, as if! I'm Cuervo" BobbyB: <laughs> "You fuckwit!" -

So ... does Mulgrew get to play on Sunday? -
Last game of the season - how will it go?
Reekie_Red replied to mizer's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Dust out the passports? If we get into Europe, yer gonna pretty much have to take yer passport with you to the Hibs game at Pittodrie, such is the short timeframe between the end of the season and the start of the qualifiers.
