5th, i think Hibs and United will battle it out for third but we'll get better as the season goes on. as for winning a cup.... i think if, theoreticaly, we finish 5th, then surely that means we're the 5th best in scotland, so coming 5th in a cup competition ( or going out in the quarters) is what we should be aiming for? so anything more than that is a bonus? So is the idea of to reaching a final or even winning one would then be aiming high? i dunno, would this equate to logic? comments please...

och well we're kinda fucked! catch 22, we need an exciting product on the park to entice fans back through the turnstiles and put money into the club on a regular basis, thus we have some money (however small) to invest in the squad. We need investment in the squad to enable us (theoretically) to play better and exciting football giving fans an exciting product on the park...... and on, and on, and on, and on and ariston! If i was loaded (like Mr Milne) i'd invest. But i'm a die-hard fan, i know that any money i'd put into Aberdeen (or any other football club for that matter) i'd never see a return from. In reality, a football club is like a fancy hobby for the rich. in terms of making money, football is a major no-no can't really blame him for not investing, but i'd hope he'd have the decency to step aside if some other crazy millionaire (preferably billonaire) came in and wanted to invest in the Mighty Don's.

couldn't agree more. problem is, seeing as there is no real competition for places, some of our senior players think that they no longer need to put in the effort and/or have the right attitude/mentality. this is killing us. i'm all for bringing in the younger players but the fact the squad really wasn't strengthened in the transfer window, which would have given us some more competition, is taking its toll already. IMO he should drop half the squad and give the young one's their chance. we'll probably lose a few games but it might at least give miller/mcdonald/kerr etc a good kick up the arse. its amazing how much effort players can find when their place is under threat!
